    3 Month Update

You're doing fabulously! I'm sorry for what you've been through but I"m happy you were able to deal with it ok. Has all of that 82 lbs been since surgery or did you lose any of that on a pre-op diet? I had surgery one day before you and I'm not doing that darned good! LOL

    I'm finally in Mexicali

I went and dug up your earlier post in the tell your story forum earlier to wish you luck with your surgery and to say I hope it all went well. I didn't even see this thread! So glad everything went smoothly and that you're doing well! Welcome to the other side!
  9. Hey girl! I was just checking on you. You should be sleeved by now! Hope it all went well and you are recovering nicely! Can't wait to hear from you.

    Smoothie King

I have a Gladiator Smoothie nearly everyday. Sometimes I go to Smoothie King and get one sometimes I make them at home. I make sure to specify I only want ONE serving of fruit in my smoothie though as the normal smoothie comes with 2. I get either the vanilla with banana or the strawberry with strawberries. The strawberry and banana together is a very popular one but I don't really care for it. They also make a chocolate powder and sometimes I make that one at home with no fruit added if I've had enough carbs for the day but still need some Protein.

    I cried tonight ...

That is SOO exciting! I'm so very happy for you...I can't wait to see your post that says you're wearing size 6's!! woohoo.... Congrats!
  12. For those of you who drink the Premier Protein RTD shakes from costco....is this the same product? We don't have a Costco anywhere around here so I've been looking for it online. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Premier-Protein-Shakes-18-11oz-shakes/dp/B001O213RM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1280257788&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Premier Protein - High Protein Ready To Drink Shakes, 18-11oz shakes: Health &[/ame]
  13. Ok...so I really like these! The 14 oz. bottle has 32 g's of Protein. Has anyone else tried these? Are they are good choice for a Protein Drink? I also really like the Muscle Milk Light Protein powder. I'm trying to find alternatives to my one and only that I like the best that I get at my surgeon's office. That is PrescriptFit Lactose Free chocolate powder. One scoop mixes with 6 oz. of Water and has 14 g's of protein. Thoughts on the OhYeah! RTD shakes and the Muscle Milk Light powder?

    gallbladers gotta go

That seems to be a common occurence for people after WLS. My best friend who has NOT had WLS but who has lost a good deal of weight over the last six months had a gallbladder attack last week and was in so much pain her hubby took her to the ER and yep...they took that sucker out. The surgery took a whole 12 minutes. That's it! Anyway...best of luck to you...I hope you're in and out of there and can get back home soon. Please let us know how you're doing as soon as you can. Will be thinking of you!
  17. lillita...if they weren't chewable I'd buy them from you but I cannot stand chewables so I quit taking them. I did switch to the One A Day gummies...they taste like candy! lol Everything else I swallow.
  18. Hi everbody. Since making the decision to have WLS I've been reading and researching and just absorbing as much information as possible. I'm so glad I found this site! After reading about the band, the bypass, and the sleeve...the decision was an easy one for me. The sleeve it is! I'm a 39 yr old mother of two and wife of one. I work full time at a job I absolutely love. I've struggled with my weight most of my adult life. I have some pretty bad lower back problems and also have very high cholesterol although I've never been put on anything for it. (Probably because I don't have a regular family doctor that I see) I also suspect that I have a mild to moderate case of sleep apnea that's developed over the last couple of years. When my back problems started to get worse I really packed on the pounds. I probably have about 150 lbs to lose at this point...and doesn't that just sound YUCK! It's really affected my physical ability and that is SO not working for me anymore! LOL I'm hoping that getting rid of some of this extra weight will help with these issues. I want to be healthy. I want to be active again. I want to live a long life and see my kids grow up and give me grandkids one day...not too soon mind you! I attended a seminar last week and I have an appointment scheduled with the surgeon on March 31st. I'm self pay so they said it would go pretty quick so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible so I can be as best prepared as possible. I also went ahead and made an appointment with a regular GP/Internist for a checkup next week just because I don't have a doctor that I see on a regular basis and haven't had a full checkup in probably oh....ever? But at least I'll have that behind me when I go for my consultation with the surgeon. I tell you...you guys are just an invaluable source of information...and I wanted you all to know how much I appreciate you all sharing your insight, your stories, and your knowledge on these forums. Now for my questions. 1. I'm a smoker. I know they ask you to quit at least two weeks before you surgery but realistically speaking I don't think that's going to happen. I was curious if there are any other smokers out there and what your docs had to say about that. I did order some e-cigs and am hoping to substitute with that and at least cut down significantly. I'm also hoping that after I lose some of this weight and feel better physically and can become more active that I will have a desire to quit. Any other smokers out there? 2. What tests did your surgeon do or order before surgery? I know that I will probably have a sleep study done and some bloodwork, but I'm not sure about what else. They will do the psych eval on the 31st during my consultation. 3. Can anyone expand on this drain tube I keep reading about? What is it draining and what is it attached to on the inside? I will have a one night hospital stay (assuming all goes well and according to plan) so will that be removed by I leave the hospital? That really seems like the grosset part of the whole thing! lol 4. Do they catheterize you during surgery? 5. hair Loss. I keep reading about this. What causes this to happen and does it happen to everyone? I have super thin hair already...I'll be bald if I start losing hair! Is there anything you can do to prevent it? I had other questions but now I can't think of them! lol Any words of advice or any specific questions I should ask my doctor about? I'm seeing Dr. Matthew French with the Surgical Specialists of Louisiana. Thanks!

    Constipation after surgery

Yes constipation has been a big problem for me. In the beginning I sipped on Milk of Magnesia a few times a day per my surgeon's instructions. It got to the point where that stuff made me want to HURL. It's nasty and I couldn't stand it anymore. At about 2 months out it had gotten really bad and I had been taking Colace pills everyday for about a week and nothing had happened so I said forget this and took 3 Dulcolax. That worked. Now that I'm eating more veggies and salads, it's not been as bad plus I'm adding Miralax to my smoothies. I won't hesitate to take a laxative though if it gets bad. If you're very early out, I'd use the Milk of Magnesia...it works well and works gently too.

    Hello! I'm new.

Welcome and good luck! This site has been invaluable to me! It's a wonderful resource and I've made some friends too...that's always a plus!
  21. By the way..I love your profile picture! You are a very pretty lady!

  22. Hi there! I guess you could say I am dieting...sticking to protein first and trying to get in all my fluids each day. I keep my carbs around 30g per day.

I'm not exercising much and I'm sure if I would I'd be losing a little better...it's just so danged HOT. Sounds like you're in the dreaded 3 week stall...it happens to most of us but it will pass. Did you take measurements of yourself before surgery? It was nice to see the inches coming off even when the scale wasn't moving.

Also are you journaling what you eat everyday? That's been a tremendous help to me. I use Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com to log everything everyday.

Oh and feel free to write me anytime!

    One Year today

I think you've done fabulously and you look great too! But the important part is that you're doing healthy things like all that exercise...I WISH I could find some motivation and excitement for exercise. Hasn't happened yet! Pay close attention to those inches because you're probably gaining a lot of muscle with all that exercise and muscle weighs more than fat! I think you WILL make it to your goal...and getting refocused on your protein is a step in the right direction! Congrats on your success so far and I wish you continued success for the future!
