I'm pre-op and the negative comments worry me!
goodlife replied to sweetlover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one who wrote about my weight loss having slowed way down and being in a stall.....that was just me venting. I KNOW the weight will come off...it simply has to. I have to learn to be patient and learn that my body is going to do it the way IT wants to do it. A big part of my frustration is that I've learned that I will only lose weight two weeks out of the month. That has to do with my cycle. I don't know if it's hormonal or what...but that just plum drives me nuts. From mid cycle (ovulation time) until a few days into my period, that scale is NOT moving. I guess I retain a lot of water during that time...don't know what else it's doing but let me tell you...I could just fast for that entire two week period and I don't think that scale would move. MADDENING! Now...aside from my frustration....I absolutely LOVE my sleeve and have zero zero zero regrets. I never for one second felt an ounce of remorse or wish I had chosen a different surgery or whatever. I'm down 75 lbs from my high weight in the middle of March and I feel fabulous. My husband says I'm so damned sexy he just can't keep his hands off of me...sometimes that is NOT a good thing..hehehe. There have been so many changes and all of them positive. I would do it all over again 10 times over! I'm 3.5 lbs away from my halfway mark and will be 4 months out on the 28th. I'll take it. -
Wow....is all of that post-op or does it include loss from a pre-op diet? That's FANDAMNTASTIC!!

So when does the sipping stop?
goodlife replied to tootie46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say whenever you're comfortable drinking more normally. I was able to drink almost normally right from the get go. If drinking normal size sips vs little baby sips causes you discomfort then don't do it. -
I haven't eaten post-op....what are the nut stats on the one you ate? Calories? Protein? Carbs?
-
Welcome to the boards and congrats on your decision. I'm just about 4 months out and I love my sleeve. Zero problems and zero complications. Best of luck to you!

cwalker...I'm in the same place as you. I'm trying so hard not to get discouraged. I'm journaling my food....I keep my carbs very low around 30g per day. I get in all of my Protein plus some (usually) and all my fluids. I don't eat any Pasta, rice, bread, potatoes. I don't exercise as much as I should but a hell of a lot more than I did before, but I have started walking and I bought a treadmill. Before surgery I was pretty much sedentary because of my back problems. Everything I did hurt my back and I couldn't even walk around the block. So walking a mile to a mile and a half and even doing a little bit of jogging in there is a big improvement. My only cheats and they aren't very often..maybe once or twice a month is a couple of drinks or if we go out to the movies I'll have some popcorn. That's it. I lost 24 lbs pre-op 20 lbs the first month post op 15 lbs the second month 10 lbs the third month and so far this month like 5 lbs. I'm going off of memory there so I may be off a bit...but the bottom line is this sucks. LOL

Wow..you are right. This month you can see BIG changes!

157 for total cholesterol is great...do you know your other numbers? HDL (good cholesterol)? and your LDL (bad cholesterol)? 111 lbs is awesome....congratulations! and you're absolutely correct about being psychologically prepared...it's truly the most important part. -
What an amazing start!! Congratulations! I can "hear" your excitement from your post!! lol

1 month mark - post op
goodlife replied to Sunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 23 lbs in one month is an AWESOME start. I lost 20 lbs exactly my first month post op. -
That's awesome!! How many calories are you eating per day? Could it be your'e not eating enough and that's what's causing the dizziness?

Pills all day - sick of it already!
goodlife replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my two month appt. I told my doc I couldn't stomach one single chewable anymore or I was going to start puking and asked him if I could go back to taking regular pills. He said as long as I didn't have any troubles swallowing them to go for it. Life has been good every since. I take my prilosex and iron in the morning and the rest at night. -
You're doing great...that's not slow at all.

Starting to think I will never get a date!!!!
goodlife replied to YOLANDA240's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
UGH...that's for the birds. I'd hate if I had to wait that long after getting approval. I was self pay so it all went very quickly. One day shy of a month from first consult to surgery day. -
well I can tell you that I'm one who doesn't eat bread, Pasta, rice, or potatoes. I really don't have room for them if I'm going to get in all the Protein I need. But I totally agree with you that it's a big mind game. I lost 20 lbs the first month, 17 lbs the second month, like 10 lbs the 3rd month, and only 2 lbs so far this month. It's very frustrating to not see the scale move at a continual pace..even if that pace is slow. I have my 3 month appt. next week even though it's a few weeks late...I can't wait to see what my doc thinks and whether I'm still on track or what. I know that if I exercised more regularly it would probably help. I'm getting in all my protein and fluids and I keep my carbs around 30g per day. I'm getting anywhere from 600-800 calories per day and usually closer to 800 most days. Why I'm not really losing I have no idea.

Oh I think there are a lot of us here...My high weight back in the middle of March was 292. I was 268 the day of surgery. My goal is to get to 135...whether I can do it, who knows. I'm a pretty slow loser now...did good at first...but been a little discouraged lately. Course I'm not really exercising much...just starting to. Walked 1.5 miles last night. That's really good for me considering 6 months ago I couldn't even walk around the block. -
I think 26 lbs in 2 months is great...and I think you're right on track.

Tummy Stretching? Opinions!
goodlife replied to NtvTxn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll probably be the person that stretches their stomach out. lol I can't seem to get the hang of stopping before I'm overfull. I eat too fast even when trying to make a conscious effort to not do so. I guess some old habits are really hard to break. -
Happy Anniversary! One year and 98lbs gone!

Wow...that's a big difference! You're doing great. Congrats!

Have they given you their reasons for thinking it's not a good decision? Because whatever they are, I'm positive they can be countered easily. Thankfully most of my friends and family were super supportive. My husband went through a spell (out of fear) where he was being difficult. I was ready to sell him to pay for my surgery! LOL. He came around and is my biggest supporter. He still worries that I'm going to get sick by not eating enough or whatever...when he's home he brings me Breakfast every single day to my office and also checks with me every single night to make sure I"m taking my Vitamins. LOL I swear he feels more like my daddy sometimes...and that's just kinda weird. *grin* Anyway, if you are confident in your decision then that is all that matters...best of luck to you. And for what it's worth..I think it's a great decision! I love my sleeve!
