    Finally posting a message

Well I lied...I did have to have an EKG and a chest x-ray..but not until my pre-op appt. at the hospital a few days before my surgery. Everything was already scheduled and paid for at that point.
  3. Holy crap! You ride your bike over 70 miles a week? Ok, you're my idol! wowow...just wow. As for this phase..the only thing I can think of is distraction. When you catch yourself doing it, try to focus on something else. Maybe take up a new hobby. Transfer a bad addiction to maybe a more productive or healthy one.
  4. My surgery was last wednesday and I just signed up at myfitnesspal and put in what I had today. I've had 415 calories, 27 g carbs, and 54 g of Protein. I have no idea how it's going to work when I progress my diet. It's rather confusing.

    What website?

I know you guys have posted links a million times....I should have bookmarked them or something. But what are the websites that you all use to keep track of what you eat daily and do they have the different Protein powders on there too or do you have to enter the nutritional information? Thanks!
  7. Congrats...it will be here before you know it!

Welcome...I'm glad you decided to quit lurking and start posting! Congratulations on getting your date. I hope too for you that your diabetes is short lived. I didn't have to have any pre-op scans of any kind. Do you have any other health problems or history that would have prompted this?

    Benefiber....UGH!!!

Anything has to be better than Milk of Magnesia...eewwww I was told to take a few sips of that each day post op and I did it for like 3 days but each time it was worse and worse and I nearly puked it up so forget it..not doing it. I need an alternative!

    Jack mario's surgery 5/5/10

Hi Shauni, Thank you so much for updating us. I've been thinking about him and wondering how he was doing. Please pass on to him all of our well wishes and tell him we can't wait for him to get back to posting!
  12. Who's your surgeon? It sounds like we have the same one. The diet is a bit odd. I posted it here last week....forget which forum though.
  13. That's the spirit! LOL Good luck tomorrow!
  14. That is amazing!! Congratulations on your awesome success! What kind of exercise have you done throughout these 9 months? How much can you eat now as opposed to the first month or so?
  15. What EVER! lol I just got back from my post-op appt. Tomorrow will be one week since surgery and I've lost 8 lbs. That seems kind of ok to me..especially since I came home weighing 13 lbs more than I did when I went in! She said I'm following the rules maybe a little TOO much. *banging my head against the wall* I got in like 70 g of Protein yesterday and about 65 oz of fluids (including my protein shakes). She said that was a lot for only being a week out. Here I've been forcing myself to get it in..scared of getting dehydrated..what the heck! So I guess I'm going to stop fretting about it and just chill out. She also told me to stop taking my PPI and the Symax and see how it goes without it. Hey..my BP was normal ...so that's a good thing!
  16. You can do it!! Keep the faith and know that we're here for you!
  17. Looks like you're a lightweight..I've heard that lightweights lose a little slower than us really fat people..lol

    Chat tonight - May 4th

    not working for me either!
  20. cool! You're a lightweight! lol How tall are you? I'm only 5'2"....shorty. Funny little story...today I was sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's office waiting to be called back and I was chatting with the other people in there also waiting. 2 of us had been sleeved..one guy had the RNY, and one lady had the band. She was going on and on about how much she loves her band and has lost about 50 lbs. So then her phone rings and she answers it and she tells the person that she's at the doctor to get her band unfilled a bit because she's throwing up so much and just can't take it anymore. When she hung up she repeated that to all of us...so I was thinking. Are you SURE you really love that band? That doesn't sound like any fun to me! But then they called my name so I didn't get to hear the rest of the conversation. Strange how some people define love...lol
  21. How did it go at the hospital? What did they find out?
  22. The first week has not been too bad. It was nice though not having to do anything...my youngest is 15 so she's pretty self sufficient. My husband took care of everything and my parents were here for a few days too. I got lots of rest and I'd get up often and just go walk up and down my driveway. I had pretty bad acid the first day home but none since. I was pretty tired the first few days. Had a lot of bloating and gas and was burping like crazy. That has lessened significantly. Now I'm just still a little bit sore and still get tired pretty easily but that said that's completely normal. It's really not bad at all......take advantage of the help though and get as much rest as you can.
  23. If you don't mind me asking..how much weight do you have to lose? Do you have a goal weight in mind?
  24. Congratulations and welcome! I don't really have any advice...I just had my surgery last wednesday. Keep posting though..the more the merrier!

    Anticipation is heavy!!!

Yep we all go through it. I sure did...especially as I'd never had surgery before except 2 c-sections but I was awake for those. It was much easier than I expected and not so scary afterall. You're going to do great!
