To The Emergency Room I Go...
dlh278 replied to Wps2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged because of this. When I had my surgery (March 12), I had "unidentified" blood for about 5 weeks, then it stopped like a light switch. Since then, I have gone from 290s to 2teens today. I still want to (and will) loose another 30 pounds. Just take every day 1 at a time... -
First Experience "losing It"
dlh278 replied to amy0501's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Much as I hate saying... It's a good lesson learned because ( as I said when I did the same thing) it won't happen again. Glad you are alright -
The pain will go away eventually (took about a month for me to say "zero pain"). Keep smiling and your toes tapping. It gets better very soon

Glad things are going well.

Pre Op Bypass With Diabetes

My surgeon ever said a specific number, but just said if it was "too" high... Your surgeon will be able to give you the safe/ unsafe range that he/she is comfortable with -
I started at about the same point (294) on March 12. Now at 259 and dropping to 180 before I am done... Good luck to you!

Depends on the day... Good one day and bad the next (no way of knowing without trying it whether it will stay down or not)... I feel your pain

Pre Op Bypass With Diabetes
dlh278 replied to ms.pinup85's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on 2000mg Metformin before surgery. On my surgery day (March 12), my number jumped from 120s to low 300s. It took a few weeks to drop back to prediabetes numbers. Today was my first <100 in a long time (without meds since April 1st). Expect a large spike from the surgery, but the hospital staff will be nice enough to monitor you blood sugar frequently while in the hospital (and they will not be shy about waking you up every 3-4 hours to do it). -

Add to Panda's thoughts... The potential to be off the diabetes meds sooner... -
Nope. Surgery on Monday. Released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Drove to the office on Thursday morning...
