    Stall 2 Wks Out

Hopeful- I had my surgery on May 21 and I am having the exact same fears that you are. I know that I need to stay off of the scales but I can't. I have made some posts asking the same question as you. Hopefully we'll get some response. John, Toward the end of my pureed phase I was not satisfied. When I had my one week post-op apppointment I expressed my concern. I still haven't thrown up or found anything that I can't tolerate. And although I don't feel hungry, I feel empty. One scrambled egg was not enough!! But then I went on the soft diet. solid food makes me feel a whole lot fuller!! And the Dr also told me that I may find that one or two more bites of egg or whatever I am eating might be enough to make me feel stuffed. And the Dr was absolutely correct!! How much longer before you can progress to the soft stage?

    My Journey

    A Lot Of Pain! :(

I am so sorry!! Please keep us updated on your status? What kind of physical activity have you been doing?
  9. My question, to be more specific, is... is there a period of time after surgery that people tend to plateau.... I just don't feel that I am losing like I should. Is my body going into starvation mode and holding on to what it's got? It's just so scary to think that I could have gone through all of this and now it's not working. I know that sounds panicky and crazy...but there! Any advice? And Vamp....you look like a different person!! Way to go!

    Question

I think that's a totally normal reaction. You didn't want to sit there and watch everyone eat while you couldn't. I'm sorry that you ended up in that situation. I luckily only had to follow the liquid diet the day before surgery. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my operation. I went out for the first time yesterday. I am at the soft stage diet now. I ate a meatball. Other than the waiter looking at my strangely, it was a good experience. I didn't feel deprived at all either. I don't know how to describe it, but I just don't want food like I did before surgery. You'll do great. Hang in there!!
  12. Went to my first week post op and found out I lost 14.5 lbs. I can't believe it! Get to progress to a soft diet now! Woo hoo!

    Exercise After Surgery

I am pre-op and have a surgery date of May 21. I am having laprascopic gastric bypass. Can anyone share with me when they were able to start exercising after this type of surgery? I have joined a gym and am now wondering if it will be a long time after my surgery before I can start exercising again. Thanks!

    I Need A Glass Of Wine...lol ;)

I just read in one of my books that one drink can be the equivalent of 5!! Start with a teeny tiny bit!! I think the reason they say a year is because alcohol has lots of calories and no nutrients so it can thwart your weight loss efforts. So I think I little would be fine...just be careful!! Cheers!!

    Anyone Else June 5?

Best of luck to you!! I am eight days post-op. I don't know what kind of diet you have to follow post-op but I wasted a lot of time before surgery preparing different pureed meats. I froze them in ice trays. I threw them away yesterday. I ended up making taco meat, pureed that and put some cheese and mashed avocado on top. Then I made a wonderful roast in the crock-pot from theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com. Delicious. It looked like cat food all whizzed up, I'm not gonna lie but it tasted great!! Lol!! For some reason, the stuff I had frozen just made me so nauseous to even think about eating it. I am now on a soft diet and it's wonderful. Another friend on here suggested that I get up as soon as possible after surgery. I did. The day of surgery I walked 16 laps around the nurse's station. Ever since I have come home I have walked at the park for at least 30 minutes every day. I feel great!! I have struggled to get in all of my fluid and protein since the first full day I was home but it's really paid off. I feel great!! I've lost 14.5 pounds. I was nervous as well. I do nap when I get tired but you won't necessary feel tired all of the time. I sure haven't. Hope this helps.

    1 Day Pre Op

Best of luck. I'm a little over a week post op. I didn't sleep much either the night before. You'll sleep plenty tomorrow!! Best of luck!!! And just so you know, so far, I can't think of one reason that I would regret having this surgery so far!! You will do great!

    Post-Op Discomfort

I am still very sore around my abdomen. I find when I walk though it helps the stiffness and pain. I still take my pain medicine at bedtime and usually once during the day. This helps me to get up and get in the walking which in turn has helped me tremendously. But if it hurts, don't do it!! It's not a race!!

    Im Home!

Woo hoo John!! It does feel amazing doesn't it!! Every step I take I feel so much better!! Awesome job!!
  23. I had my surgery on Monday. Got home from the hospital Tuesday afternoon. This is late Wednesday night. I got in all of my fluid, all of my protein and walked for over an hour in the park this evening!! I don't know what I expected but it surely wasn't this. One of my friends, Jen in SoCal told me to get up ASAP and I did. I walked 16 laps around the floor the night of my surgery and eight the next morning before I left. I find it really hard to get up out of bed but other than that I feel great.
