Negative People Around Me...
Panda replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I only told a select few people also...to keep negativity down. Now I'm 24 days post op and the cats out of the bag! people know now and I don't care because they see me out here working hard walking two miles a day and I've actually had a family member or two call and say congratulations! Yes prove the nay sayers wrong and use their negativity to your advantage and turn it into positivity! Good luck and you have all of us! -

Need Advice! If Anyone Out There Can Help Me.

They say at least 2 here but they also say with the hormonal changes sometimes mistakes happen. I know u for sure wanna wait until your weight stabilizes...patience is always a virtue -
Jeeez! My doc said three days! The nurse suggested fleet enema or stool softenErs. I bet you lost about 7 lbs! Lol! Congrats on the big BM....AND MANY MORE! Lol

Its going great! Losing a lot of inches. I haven't weighed myself because I get consumed by it. A week ago I was at -25 lbs. I'm 24 days post open and big changes are happening. sleep apnea is subsiding. I barely snore at all. I am on no pain meds at all for joint pain. I exercise 6 days a week at minimal. Don't compare your weight loss to everyone else's because everyone is different. I've slowed down from the dramatic jump in the beginning but I am still losing. I've been told that sometimes when the scale isn't moving you are losing inches. I am happy to be feeling less winded and tired all of the time...

1St Ov/fu Appt (9Days Post-Op)
Panda replied to Yodelania's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use Bariatric fusion. Its the highest protein content that I could find online plus it is specially formulated for bariatric patients. Plus there is a Protein Powder called beneprotein by nestle that mixes easily in hot and cold food. Its what they give u wen you're on a feeding tube. -
Well said RaleighNC!! Your words r quite motivating as well as inspiring. You r definitely beneficial to the group

I totally understand with the valid points you all are making about not driving, but being a passenger in a vehicle can have the same effect if the driver slams the brakes? One would think. I asked and the nurse why they said no driving & she said because the narcotic pain meds impair your judgement. She gave No physical reasons at all. If so they would also say no RIDING in vehicles. They would say no exercise and what not also. My surgeon gave me a whole booklet of exercises to be started immediately after surgery. Increased oxygen promotes healing. I guess the no driving thing is truly a judgment call by each individual but I just figured if I was well enough to do resistance exercises with thera-bands surely I could take my daughters to school: ). Just food for thought

CONGRATS! I am so excited for you! -
I'm happy to be losing any weight at all. Since I started on soft food my weight loss has slowed but I am not discouraged. I exercise everyday and keep my eye on the prize. Someone on here said that sometimes you're losing inches when you're not losing lbs. Maybe measure yourself instead of weighing in. Most importantly don't give up!: )...I also wanted the quick fix...but happy with what I've got. They keep saying protein Protein PROTEIN is the key to getting the pounds to drop. So that's what I am focusing on....I don't think I'm getting to 80 grams each day
-
ONLY 14 lbs in two weeks! That's a lb a day! Thats excellent! With all due respect it sounds like you have unrealistic expectations...
-
I drove the next day also. Someone had to take the kids to school...speed bumps were a little uncompfortable but other than that things were fine. I think they say no driving because of the pain meds...
-
Dont get discouraged yet! 2 weeks you pro ably still have swelling from the surgery. Have u weighed yourself? Have u lost weight. Im down probably over 20 lbs (haven't weighed myself in a couple days) and i dont really see a difference but I feel better. Im only 19 days post op. People around me see a difference. But 20 lbs from nearly 300 lbs im sure the changes are slow. WLS isnt a magic wand. You still have to do your part . Without the surgery i could've worked out hours on end and NEVER would've lost over 20 lbs in 19 days. So do t get discouraged so soon! Best wishes ....

Why Did You Choose Gastric Bypass Vs Gastric Sleeve?
Panda replied to fattypattynomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose bypass mot only because my insurance didnt conver the sleeve but because in addition to the smaller stomach your small intestine is partially bypassed which causes malabsorbtion which means you only partially absorb the calories that you do eat. Being MORBIDLY obese this was most definately the choice for me -
I had my hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as my bypass and I feel great. Im 18 days post op as of today.

I made it through and I am grateful! This morning i ate about 3/4 of a popsicle and am full full full! No nausea or vomitting. Pain is starting to subside....i think i may be discharged this evening. I only have 6 small holes on my stomach. Most definitely easier than a c-section
-
I bought the Bariatric Fusion online. Google it. Day2 all i could drink was protein meal replacements....now i just have 1 a day for breakfast...when i eat a lowfat yogurt I mix 1 scoop of beneprotein into it. Its made by carnation and can be purchased at certain drug stores. Its odorless and tasteless. I mix into almost everything I can to get the protein value up. You can google it also...it's what they use for people who r on feeding tubes but u can add it to food....

I drink bariatric fusion meal replacements because its 27grams of protein per 6 oz shake. Even higher protein #'s if u make it with skim milk....
