  1. Daily stimulating scalp massages... and I be heard that doubling up on your Protein helps. Your Dr can do a blood test to see how much of a protein deficiency you have so that you'll know how much you need to intake. A lot of nutritionist say that the hair loss related to this surgery is actually a protein deficiency Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk
  2. In the beginning I had no appetite at all so it wasn't an issue. Now (it'll be 3 months this week) the kids est what I eat. I used to cook for them and then something for myself but my girls thought the the things I was making for myself seemed way more interesting and exciting so one day my youngest said "mommy you don't have to cook two meals well just eat what you eat!"...my teenager is on board as well. So my healthy eating has caught on! When there are carbs involved I just don't eat em.. Like when we have turkey burger I omit the bun and cheese on mine...baked chicken...I just pull the skin off of mine. Liver & onions...no gravy or rice for me. This surgery has benefited the whole family. The other day at the grocer my daughter picked out sugar free ice cream on her own knowing that I don't even eat ice cream. In other words she picked her favorite flavor of ice cream in a sugar free brand for herself. She also found me some sugar free relish fat free Peanut Butter and when we went out to eat the other night she asked the waitress did they have a low fat/low cal menu...warmed my heart. They are always looking for new recipes and things that I (we) can eat. I'm glad we are doing this as a family. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

  5. Wasn't really wanting a Drs calorie count was just wondering what mfp was saying. Also you czn change the serving sizes in the app. For instance if you only ate 1/3 of an egg...where it says how many servings it'll say 1, you can change that to .33 to reflect 1/3 or s serving and it will recalculate you at that serving size. I know calories aren't important...I was just wondering where everyone was at. I actually only use the app for the purpose of counting my protein.... Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

    Friday Weigh-In!

I had my surgery 3/21/2012 and last week I hit 50 lbs. My Dr says I'm doing fine because they want you to lose at a nice pace over a year of time. I started at 385 and I am 5'6". I used to get discouraged because I wasn't dropping swiftly like everyone else but I'm also watching my skin shrink with me which is awesome! Dr says because I'm losing at what "I" call a slow pace but he says I'm right on track percentage wise. I guess they gauge you by having lost so many % of your excess body weight by time markers that they use....saying all if this to say great job! Kudos to us! I compare myself with the tortoise and the hare! Lol! And we know how that story goes: )... Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk
  8. I slept in my stomach in the beginning. I did this because back in the day when I was a paramedic they used to tell us to lay the person on the injured side because the pressure relieves the pain. And sure enough I slept like a baby! No pain or nothing til I rolled over. As long a I was flat on my stomach I was fine...just the rolling over part that was awful Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

    Pre Op Diet

That's a good idea. I didn't have to do the prep diet but I started walking everyday two weeks prior to surgery as well as the exercises that they gave me to do immediately after so that I would already be over the soreness of starting a new exercise regime. The day I got home from the hospital I walked a mile and everyday after while I was recovering. The only down time I had was the one day I was in the hospital. It was exhausting walking in the beginning right after surgery but I persevered.... Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

    Friday Weigh-In!

-2 lbs...this sucks...the past month I've only lost 3 lbs per week and now even less. I exercise daily...5 x's a week minimum. These are the types of results u see without having surgery. Maybe its the damn prenatal vitamins....I'm gonna stop them for a week just to see... Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

    Jealousy

The grass always looks greener from the other side! Lol! But when you stand on the other grass then you realize that the grass wasn't that green afterall. Although we cannot be held accountable for how others choose to act or feel but we can take a look at our own actions and ask what part we played in our mates insecurities. I'm not judging anyone but I did want to remind everyone how precious the covenant of marriage is and that it is a relationship blessed by God. So why not treat it with all the respect intended so that it may be blessed by all of the Lords bountiful blessings. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

    Post Op Help

Yeah checking with Dr is always a good idea. I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago...and the type of chest pains I got were sharp and in my heart. I think my was indigestion because I felt like I needed to fart or burp but couldn't but most definitely gonna mention it to the Dr in two weeks. I'm 12 weeks post op. Jealousy

Flirting. A huge thing on a marriage. A union that the Lord has endorsed and signed. I've never married but seen first hand plenty of marriages suffer because of it. Flirting makes your partner feel insecure fat or not. Why not flirt with your spouse? Anyone heard the saying every time you go to the beach you get a little damp? Flirting is going to the beach. To all MARRIED flirts, maybe you should read your bibles because it is the greatest love story ever told. It will guide you on what your role is as a husband or wife. It is distasteful as well as disrespectful to God's covenant of marriage to flirt. I'm sure I'll receive alot if flack as a single woman for saying these things but I know what my Bible says and I stand by the word of God. These are the reasons I've never married. Not because I'm fat but because I haven't been about the right thing and would never enter into Gods covenant if I couldn't enjoy all of the beautiful blessings that come along with it because I still wanted to flirt and such.
