  1. I would assume fever with flu, too. I'm also not achy at all. I'm 100% sure I'm not pregnant:). Though my 10 yo would love that. I haven't eaten anything in 2 days cause of this pressure and the heaving. Maybe I'm just wacko;) I think I'll go to my family doc today and get her opinion. Part of me is starting to wonder if it's not just severe gastric reflux.

  2. I'm trying to decide what is wrong with me. For the last several days I have been extremely nauseous. I gag a lot and heave. Nothing comes up. I could have the flu or a GI bug. I constantly feel a pressure/annoyance over my mid sternum. It goes away for a bit each time I heave. My gall bladder is gone. So stricture or flu/GI bug?

  3. Bird,

I had RNY. I am a RN and also did much research on the various procedures. Each has benefits and deductions. It truly depends on what you're looking for and how restrictive you feel you need to go. I know people who've had issues with all the procedures. I will only speak for myself. My surgery itself went well. I am apparently the 1 in 1,000,000 that suffers horrendous pain with lap procedures. I don't think it would have mattered which way I went. Just be forewarned that not everyone can claim it didn't hurt a bit or they were nothing more than sore. And mine was all muscular. Not a bit of it was gas pain. That said I'd do it again in a heartbeat (just one not so in the dark;)). I've lost 70 lbs since June 7th. Off all insulin as soon as they got my sugars post surgery under control. No more BP meds. I don't get so out of breath when walking and I can do at least 3 flights of stairs without feeling like I'm gonna die. My only complication has been constant nausea and vomiting all solids. But that is all my gall bladder. As soon as that comes out I should be golden!!

  4. I was losing clumps of hair. Having always had such beautiful, long, thick, wavy hair I wanted to cry when I brushes or washed it. I currently eat very little r/t my gall bladder needing to come out. My Protein intake is in the toilet. I try and drink milk by the gallon;) cause it stays down. Anyway, I've been taking Biotin. I've tried the shampoos. Nothing is working. Then I cut my hair from just above my butt to my shoulders. And now the falling out has slowed up drastically. Im guessing taking some of the weight off the follicles has helped.

  5. You are the rarity' date=' but we do see it sometimes, besides stones, some people have gallbladders that just don't do their job.[/quote']

I'm learning that quickly;) Atypical gall bladder presentation. Pain issues that were severe and completely unrelated to gas. One of the gyn/onc surgeons on our unit said, "Aleysia, you're nuts!! Only you could have such issues. It's all unheard of." Of course this was after relaying all my surgical issues and the reason I was wearing a sling from falling over my own two feet while running to the phone to call a code! I'm just a hot mess!!;)

  6. I went through this about a month ago. My surgery was June 5. My doc said it can be very normal. He gave me nausea meds - phenergan' date=' reglan and zofran. Then he also gave me a scapolimean patch. It helps people going on cruises with motion sickness. He said the patch will get rid of excess saliva. I asked him what was going on and he said that when people start losing weight their body releases toxins and those toxins can make you feel like you feel right now.

It took me about a month to eat with taking the medication. It was a tough month, but I just ate what I could tolerate.[/quote']

What I wouldn't give if it were a non surgical problem:) I really don't want more surgery or Copays or time off work....... I'll ask my doc on Monday what he thinks about that. I'll make a recommendation for the scopolamine patch. However, my surgeon and all the other surgeons that see pts on the hospital unit I work on all lean towards gall bladder. But if meds will do the trick I'm all for it as long as its not permanently taking meds. Part of the reason I did this was to stop having all kinds of meds to take. Not to exchange one set for another.

  7. I had surgery on Thursday. Left Saturday afternoon. Was ok for first week. About a week out developed excruciating muscular pain. Was completely laid up until 5 weeks post surgery. Was off for 6 weeks. But I'm apparently one of the very few exceptions to the rule;)

  8. I still have the nausea. I haven't eaten any solids in 2 weeks. No stricture. My EGD was clear. I had my 3 month labs drawn. Somehow they are all mid range normal. Lol!! How is that even possible? I can't eat or take Vitamins. We did a gall bladders u/s on Friday. It's unchanged from preop. Dr said if u/s didn't show anything then we'd do a HIDA scAn so I assume Monday he'll write the order for that. All I want to do is not be nauseous and eat a little something.

  9. Huh' date=' do you use any pain meds, 8/24/09 was my surgery. I've done well went from 404lb to 185lb holding that wait for 2yrs now. I'm on tramadol for back pain and nexium to protect my stomic against the tramadol.[/quote']

When I had pain issues after surgery and they gave me Celebrex along with percocet my surgeon said take an OTC antacid with it.

  10. My husband stayed with me for some days' date=' but he must return tomorrow. My surgery was August 14th. I can move around, but my pain meds cause me diarriah due to sugar alcohol possibly containing sorbitol. That makes me uncomfortable and edgy all day. I don't know when the soreness will end and when this discomfort will subside. I'm hungry and I wonder now if this was a mistake? Thin or fat? Not sure? Maybe it's my discomfort talking and I'm damn tired of liquids! Sorry y'all too much complain. No sleep since 2 a.m. (TX time).[/quote']

    Josie.

I hear ya on the regret but once you get to the other side of the pain the regret quickly dissipates:)

  11. So' date=' I guess doing it on your own is doable, just sucky? I could get one of this grabby claw things...[/quote']

I would suggest that you stay in the hospital an extra day or two if they will let you and the insurance will cover it. I had my family around and didn't need them. I'm too stubborn to ask for help;) but if I hadn't I certainly wouldn't have left the hospital in under 2 days.
