I'm not a big juice fan, but I'm out of the country and beverages here are not very good. Has anyone tried juice? I'm a year out.

What does gastric bypass FEEL like?
kmiller replied to michellej's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over a year out and yep, everyone is different. I was not given any restrictions, period. I have kind of learned by trial and error. I do make sure I get in my protein and I try and watch my calories. I wok out 3 days a week and walk the other days. For me, when I get hungry and I do get hungry. I start feeling kind of sick and have a little pin in the pouch. As soon as I eat something it goes away. Now for me, I have to just stop myself. I don't feel full until after I've eaten too much. If I do eat too much or eat something that my tummy doesn't like, I have to head for the potty -

What ya eating tonight?

I think she was old hippie gal and I haven't seen her on here since someone decided to bawl her out for something she ate. That, in my opinion is shameful. Everyone is going to " stub their toe" from time to time so to speak. Clearly none of us are diet gurus or we wouldn't have needed this surgery in the first place. It's a shame that she quit or had to change her name on here because of one person who just couldn't keep her opinion to herself. -
Fabulous February Post-Op's

Danifoxpt and Cecilia RN, At the risk of sounding like a smart alec, I might respond to the " how much have you lost this week " question by saying, "I'll tell you, if you tell me". That might shut em up! As for the secretary who wants to know about riding your bike to work...a rather to the point reply would be, " why do you care about my transportatio? Are you looking to buy a bike and that's why you want to know about mine?" Or even better..."would you like to start meeting me for a bike ride? We could ride to work together! It would help with thoseounds you've gained recently"'. That should shut her up, and fast. A little bitchy I know, but it seems to me that most people just say what they think without one thought to everybody else. You might give it a try. -

.,,,,and that ladies and gentlemen is why I don't tell what I eat or how much I have lost this week. There will always be someone who feels called upon to point out our mistakes, like we don't already know. I don't need it. It's my business. I'll support you in this, because we all need to befriend each other. I don't point out poor choices as I have made quite a few, and so has everyone else. It happens. Just be supportive and kind and realize we are all still learning. My Dr. Allows lots of things other surgeons don't. It's not the same for everybody. -

Describe your 1-day post-op PAIN please
kmiller replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been around for probably close to 20 years. It's out in generic form now, thank heavens. I have a blood disorder and without this med I would have died years ago. Yes, even on Coumadin I clotted. The manufacturer and my hematologist say it should be given in the lower abdomen, which is what I have done for over 17 years, but like all things follow your Dr's. instructions as he will be the one to deal with any issues. -

That's a wee bit frightening. My surgery was open. I was cut from between my boobs to my belly button, and since then I have had that incision opened up twice. The injection was given by another nurse in the same area. If you google Lovenox, it will tell you to give it in your lower abdomen and nowhere else. -

Ok. I HAVE to jump in here. First of all, I am retired, but I am a Registered Nurse. Secondly, I have been on Lovenox injections nightly for 17 years. Yes, that's right, seventeen years. I have Never taken it anywhere but my lower abdomen, and if you give it correctly it really is not painful. Also I should add that you should NEVER inject this anywhere other than the lower abdomen at least 1 inch away from your belly button.
