  1. Could also be low sodium, or heaven forbid a blood clot. I think you should see your doctor. At least call and make him aware.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

Not only is that nasty, it's ridiculous. If they want it badly enough to put it in their mouth, then why not a bite or two swallowed and be done? Again, moderation verses deprivation. You know at some point the spitters might just pig out on what they are craving and spitting.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

You guys are too funny! Soccermomma73 you are so 100% correct! We have to be realistic without being martyrs or going overboard. This surgery is a tool to use wisely. I am 10 months out and I have lost 82 lbs.. I'm not breaking any speed records, but when my grand kids have their birthdays, I don't sit with a long haggard look being a martyr over a piece of cake. My daughter in law knows to cut me a small piece and I have a couple of bites and I quit. Am I full or do I feel I'll from it, no. I want to live my life to the best of my ability and be happy. My diabetes is gone, my cholesterol is normal and my grand kids notice that grandma has more energy. I would like to lose 40 more, but my Dr. Says 20 more is sufficient. It may take me several months and that's ok if it does, I'm happy and living in moderation and not condemnation. There are a few on here from time to time that want to condem choices others make. In my opinion for whatever its worth, if we are too severe or strict with ourselves I think we set ourselves up for failure. I'll probably get some non complimenatary responses to this post and if I do, so be it.
  5. Does anyone ever feel sick only to find out after eating something that they were hungry and not really sick, or is this just some of my weirdness. I'm 10 months out by the way.
  6. I don't think a little bit of diet root beer would hurt anything. I don't have any restrictions. Everyone's Dr. Has a different set of rules. To me the key is moderation, and making good choices. If you're not comfortable adding the root beer, I believe there is an extract you can get that's root beer flavored. Hope this helps.

I agree with Dotie and several others. We're not here to judge, but to support and celebrate! There are so many people in the world waiting and watching for us to fail. We just do the best we can and when we slip up, we start over. It's actually pretty simple. If I had wanted everything I eat scrutinized and criticized I would go somewhere else. I joined this group to celebrate and support. Isn't that why we're here.

I admire your courage and honesty, old hippie gal. No one is perfect. If they were they wouldn't be on this planet. I'm 58, married and rarely cook. Sorry, I'm just at a point in my life where I don't cook for kids anymore and I have the resources to eat out 7 days a week. I just watch what I eat and stop when I've had enough. I get on the scales every day to make sure I don't gain. I've lost 80 lbs and I'm 10 months out an still losing. My diabetes is gone and my cholesterol is normal. If I never lose another pound, but I will, I have accomplished my health goals. My surgeon is pleased and I have never been told not to eat something. All I have ever been told is 60-70 grams of protein, and 64 ounces of water. Why some people have to be judgmental is beyond me. We do the best we can, take it one day at a time and get on with it.
  11. Does anyone have any idea what percentage of the calories we take in are not absorbed due to the RNY? I use My Fitness Pal and it always says I'm eating too few calories. Just curious...I've never seen anything about this before.

    Calories bypassed

    I'm 10 months out.
  13. I am 10 months post op and I've been able to eat bread for a long time. I RARELY do it, however. I find that if I want to have a piece, I do. For me, moderation is the key. To say or think I will never be able to have foods I like again just makes me want it more, so if I want it, a very small piece is what I allow myself occasionally. I hope that helps.

What is the chicken, cream cheese, refried beans, and salsa recipe? I couldn't find it, but it sure sounds wonderful!
  16. I'm ashamed of myself, but I'm confessing. I have eaten everything in the house today. Yes, I got in my protein and water, and lots more stuff I shouldn't be eating. I don't know what got into me. I'm not a person who feels full or dumps, unfortunately. I'm too old to blame this on monthly issues. Of course being at odds with my only sibling and finding out I have to have yet another hernia surgery, before I'm fully recovered from the one I had n February. I don't know. I'm making excuses for my bad behavior. So ashamed. :-(

    SO BAD!

Thanks, Mia. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who ever cheats. I'm 10 months out with an 80 lb. loss and 40 more to go.

    Protein Bar

Hi all! First let me say, I'm 9 months out and have lost 80 lbs.. I saw my surgeon today who only wants me to lose 20 more, not 50 like I had planned. Anyway, I discovered a protein bar that tastes pretty good and makes a good late night snack. It's made by Kellogg's. it's called FIBER PLUS PROTEIN chewy bar. I had the peanut one. It has 10 gms. Of protein, 170 calories, 8 gms. Of fat and 9 gms.of sugar. I realize the sugar content may be a wee bit high, but all in all, it's pretty good.
  19. I had cataract surgery when I was 55 with implants. My vision changed after the surgery. I've lost 80 lbs in 10 months. What changed for me was the astigmatism. Not better or worse, just changed so the prescription for the computer glasses changed. The eye Dr. couldn't explain it. Maybe from the diabetes going away or losing weight. Who knows?
