A Twist On Protein Powder
kmiller replied to alhaff74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a plan! I wonder if some sugar free syrup could be used with it? -
YAY!! That's teriffic! Kind of starts the next phase off with BANG!!!
-
I was told to take 1000mcg of Biotin 3 times a day and Folic Acid. My hair is already very thin, so any thing that gets posted I would love to hear about.

I think it' s kind of an individual thing. If you don't feel bad, then I wouldn't worry about it. Kudos to you for doinng it. I really haven't started waalking since I got home and my Dr. doesn't want me on a treaddmill, which I have in my basement or in the swimming pool in my back yard., but I'll get with the program. Good Job!

I'm from Kansas City, Mo. and boy oh boy can I ever relate! I have lived on 2 protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, and broth for 2 weeks pre-op and now one week post op. I get all excited at the thought of cottage cheese and green beans..I know, tthats sad. I guess I have some buyers remorse, when I think of al the sagging old people skin I'm going to have to deal with, but at least, i won't be losing limbs due to my diabetes. I am concerned about gaining once I get to have a little bit of food, but we will see what happens. For the lady with the bowel issues, Not to be crude, but I am blowing out watery stuff 2 to 3 times a day. Just mind boggeling.

Yeah, I'm having that issue to Beth. I don't like the taste of most of the shakes, and one of them that had lots of Protein gave me some major issues. If you run across something good, let me know. By the way, what Vitamins are you using?

Scared..but Anxiously Waiting..and Counting The Days!
kmiller replied to Barbiedoll77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Barbie Doll! I know this site is wonderful. I have more friends here and more support than I have from some family members. Sad, but true. Anyway, I'm doing o.k,. I get my stitches out tomorrow and hopefully get my diet advanced. I'm sick of protein shakes and jello. I never thoght I would die for a green bean! LOL You hang in there girl, and if you need anything at all just holler. -
WOW Krista! That is a lot to lose in such a short time. I know this is nosy, but what was your starting weight to lose that much ? I'm on my third week of protein shakes and sugar free liquids and I haven't lost near that much.
-
I totally understand your fear. I have the same fear. I have only been on clear liquids and protein shakes since April 17th. I have lost and I do get on the scales every morning. I don't know why. It doesn't make sense that my weight would go up having nothing but protein shakes and clear liqids, but I do none the less. We need to stay in touch.

True! I feel closer to most of these folks than to some family members!

Maybe you could schedule your surgery for July 7 I was scheduled about 6 weeks in advance due to his schedule.

Praying for you. Keep us posted. -
I think it may hve something to do with being on the operating table. My back just killed me for days. It's a little better now, but I try and stay off of it, too.

Gettn Tired Of Orange Cream Protein....
kmiller replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sam's does carry the Premier Protein shakes, but I cant use them. They give me " issues" big time!! -
I'm sorry to hear this, too. My surgery was last Tuesday, and so far so good. What does your Dr. think may have caused this? Are you a smoker? I know, when I start thinking about food I get a little wigged out thinking was this a mistake? But honestly, no it wasn't. There will be some foods that I'll miss, but my weight and eating habits were going to kill me, so yes it was worth it for me. You'll be in my prayers.

NO problem with ulcers. They did put me on 20 mg. of Prilosec twice a day to reduce acid which could lead to an ulcer, but it's just a preventative measure.
-
Could be gas from the surgery. They put a lot in when they do these laproscopic, or perhaps from laying on the OR table.

Drugs And Alcohol Post Op?!
kmiller replied to Skinnyminded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it has to do with "addiction transferance". I've never known anyone with this issue, and I don't have it. -
Me too! To top it off the shakes I had been using no longer work with my digestive system, so now I have to start over trying to find something that will not taste awful, yet work. Any suggestions?

Barbie doll, You're going to get through this. Someone once said, " if God brings you to it, he will bring you through it." I'll be praying for you and all my sisters and brothers in this journey. -
Less Than 24 Hrs To Gastric Bypass Surgery :/
kmiller replied to normz956's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You'll be fine. I know the Magnesium Citrate was a booger. Lots of cramping and " going" There really shouldn't be any need to open you up. I was open ONLY because I had to have a previous surgery corrected. I'll say a prayer for you. -
From people I have talked to including my surgeon, it will eventually. I think it takes about a year.
-
Did anyone besides me have an open surgery? I'm 4 days post op, and nowhere near close to doing anything more than just passing gas. Not to be gross, but did anyone else have this?

Trouble With Pre Op Diet
kmiller replied to berniec's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Vamp! Did you have trouble at first getting everything in right after surgery? If I drink one more thing, I think I 'll pop!
