Could you do this with optimal restriction?

I can't drink at all unless it is something I should be eating like ice cream candy, chips, junk food basically. If I am eating what I am supposed to be eating I'm not able to drink. -
Try protein shakes for a while. At first I couldn't eat in the morning either, but now I can have eggs or oatmeal or something but I still can't do any sort of meat.

To be honest when I was 18 I weighed about the same as you do and I completely empathize that no matter what I did, I couldn't lose the weight. I got the surgery last year when I was 22. Part of me wishes I had done it when I was 18 before I had gained more weight, but I don't think I was quite ready for everything that comes with having this surgery when I got it. I am struggling with this change of lifestyle everyday, but I do have hope that this will work for me even though I haven't lost as much weight as I would like yet. So really think about if you are ready to go through the emotional aspects that this surgery brings much more than the physical aspects. I thought in the beginning that giving up foods that I love and throwing up every once in a while would be fine, but every once in a while I do get depressed. Don't let that discourage you though because a lot of people don't have these problems and feelings, but you should think about it in case you do. With that I hope you make the decision thats right for you. I am so glad that I got mine the happiness in seeing that scale go down and me feeling healthier have definately surpassed the bad emotional aspects. Good luck!

I just got banded 11 days ago. Most of my incisions are healing really well, but one of them is causing me a lot of problems it really is uncomfortable, it isn't my port incision, but I am starting to wonder if it is infeected. Any advice?

I agree, I believe that their statistics may be somewhat misleading because after the research that I have done on the web and at some doctor's offices, most patients have kept off anywhere from 40-50%of their excess weight.

For me it was more of a shoulder pain. I believe that it is from the type of procedure and my sister who is a nurse stated that it was gas that would get into your joints. She called it shoulder gas which sounds kinda silly, but for me it went away after 4 days. There are certain exercises that you can do to get rid of it also. That was definately one of the worst parts of it for me.

I just got banded 8/15 and I talked with my doctor about a lot of things, but he mentioned nothing about the intense itching that I would experience around the incisions. Today is Sunday so I can't call him but I was wondering if anyone else had answers to my questions because if this itching would just go away I would feel pretty great. Is it normal to be itching? Is it a sign of Infection? Anything that I can do to relieve some of the itching? Anyway thanks again.

I just found a way to pay for the surgery and after reading all the postings about how great Dr. Spivak is I have made an appointment to see him in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to have the surgery and I feel like it has taken forever to just get here, but I am so happy it has finally come.
