    Starting My Journey....

Congrats and welcome to the boards!
  2. But you're on the right path now so let the past go and only look at your future my friend. YOU are starting a journey to health. Always remember it's a journey not a marathon or race. YOU can do this for YOU because you are soooo worth it

    Package

Nope...just try your best to remember all the diets and about the time you did them and for how long. I couldn't possibly remember all that info but, I sure as heck remember 99% of all the diets I tried. I first listed every diet I tried, then how many times I tried them. Then I wrote in the length of time for the ones I remembered and how much weight I lost with each. The more recent I was able to put dates like month, year but, not for all of them. You should have a section you can write your own words right after listing all the diets so you can write in there that you can't remember all the dates/years but, that you know each one was successful or not successful, how much you'd normally lose only to gain it back...or gain it back plus. That's pretty much what I did.

    Chinese Food?

When my family wants it I tend to stick with Teriyaki beef or chicken on skewers. I will sometimes get also steamed dumplings and basically only eat the insides of them because the dough is too much but, I like the pork stuffing in them. I don't think my stomach could handle anything else really. They use a lot of oil unless you ask for steamed.

    Healing Process After Gbp Surgery

I was out for 6 weeks but, I ran into some trouble with infections. When I asked prior to the infections my doc recommends 3 weeks out and I have a desk job.

    Increased Bo?

Part of that can be from the gas they used during surgery and part of it can be from the protein shakes. When you can eat more balanced it should get better.

    I Have A Problem...

Kerrie-Ann..please do speak with your doctor or nutritionist at least. I hear you on the not being able to eat and it does sometimes happen due to "female" issues and swelling, I find...but, it shouldn't last as long as it appears it is lasting for you. Throwing up or purging as you say isn't good for your esphogus at all and you could be potentially bringing on more medical issues other than the one causing it by doing so. If you're not comfortable with your surgeon's office...maybe find one that you are comfy with? You should never feel that you can't talk to them. Please for your health sake.....let them know.
  10. Hello Bariatric Op - I actually ended up on a second round of antibiotics but, that time she put me on Florastor to help get the good bacteria built up. It worked, thank goodness! I've been off the antibiotics now for ...hmm...about 3 weeks and everything seems good. My weightloss has slowed down tremediously though. My metabolism is shot and has been for years. I'm hoping it will pick up soon! I just got back from Disney in Florida...walked about 10 miles a day, did my best with protein and didn't eat any junk yet gained weight. UGH!!!! So ticked. Although I can tell I'm retaining fluid it still stinks knowing I passed on all the fatty foods etc while there. OH well....I know this works and gotta kick up my exercise and fluids. Back to work on Monday...back to the grind of meeting all the nutritional things. How are you doing?
  11. I'm in the starting stages of getting the RNY surgery. After speaking with the nutritionist I wonder how the heck do you get all your Protein in when you're dependant on Protein shakes? I guess I'm scared...in how does one get it all in when you can't take more than a bit or two of something? I can deal with liquids for the stages before and after surgery but....I'm kinda scared of the more solid foods. After hearing about food getting stuck...dumping...zoiks! Have you had food get stuck? What was it like? How long does it take for whatever solid food you get in there to digest? Oh so many questions! More research for me to do
  12. Stepped on the scale today and YIPPEE finally hit the first goal of 50 pounds off. It's been slow but, understandable with all the dang antibiotics and issues but, finally off the antibiotics and feeling good. Naturally I would love more off than this but, at the same time I'm extremely happy. We all look at each others weightloss and journey but, in the end we're on our own journey. This I know and keep reminding myself. This helps keep my sanity on the weightloss and better health journey. One day at a time, one meal at a time, one forkful at a time and I'll get there. Thank you all for your support and friendship here at RNYTalk. I'm truly enjoying it all and saying my thankfuls for each and every day. Even the days when the scale doesn't move, the antibiotics, the infections etc....I know this was the right decision to better health. Hugs to all and I'm here for you too!

I Did An Appeal And It Was

honeydue - what you're going through most of us have gone through. Second doubts, nerves, worry all play a role and you know what........it's totally normal! You chose this journey a while ago for many reasons. Keep those reasons in your mind and heart. Gastric bypass has been around for years and the surgeons techniques and expertise have increased dramatically. Most of the horror stories are from years ago. I'm not saying it doesn't happen now a days, it does but, far fewer than years ago when RNY was first being done. During the seminars I've attended.....2006 when I had my lapband..the docs then said a 1-2% risk of serious injury or death.....now in 2012 this seminar they said less than 1%. For me because mine was considered a revision...there was a 1% risk. So those are great odds if you compare it to IF you don't do this. What are the chances your health issues or family history of health issues will be more than a 1% risk? Highly likely right? If you trust your surgeon...if you like the care you've received and know you will receive after surgery...then sounds like you have a great group to work with. That's more than 1/2 the battle of the surgery. The other half....well you have YOU....your hubby and girls.....and We're here if you need us

    Giving Lb The Bad News...

LB is so dang pricey. Hate it when I need an outfit and it's the only place I can find something. Dang pair of pants and shirt cost well over $100 and that's even with their coupons. The pants are always flair or boot cut or wide leg too. Unreal!

    Water

Can't say I've heard that one. I was just told to take in 64 ounces of fluid/water a day.

    Mood Swings?

Bert n Ernie - Lots of hormones floating around as the weight melts away. Yuppers I've been there myself. Thankfully I have an understanding hubster who realized what caused it and reminded me about it. It does get better though

Stall At 2 1/2 Weeks Out

at 2.5 weeks it's not really a stall. You're still healing and you're body is getting used to the reduced calories. Keep following your doctors/nutritionist eating plan and the scale will be moving. There are quite a few factors that can stop the scale for a while especially when so close to surgery. Swelling happens as you heal, all the Water retention from the surgery may not be gone...if you're cycle is coming soon you can retain fluids then too. Also are you getting in enough Fluid...fluid in means fluid out. If you're not getting enough in your body will hold onto what it has. Stick with their eating plan and that scale will move again real quick
