Kinda Sorta Gotta Date! (I Think)
LosingItForMe2011 replied to lessofme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
congrats on a date. I guess it could go either way about telling folks or not. You have to base your decision on who's going to be supportive or not the best you can. Good luck! -
Surgery Set Up For 5/21 Thinking Of Backing Out
LosingItForMe2011 replied to john's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi John, I haven't received a date yet for my surgery but, I did have Lapband surgery and went through the same thing. Everyone thinks they know what's best but, you know only YOU can make that decision. Think about the reasons why you're thinking about the surgery and why you started this journey in the first place. With any surgery..heck with anything we do with our bodies there are risks. It's whether those risks out-weigh the risk of being obese. If you have too many doubts within yourself, not taking into account what others who haven't had the surgery but, within yourself then maybe you should post pone it so you're comfortable. You don't want to go into anything not having your whole heart behind it. Are you scared and nervous.....sure you have to be. Heck this is no light surgery and if you weren't a little scared or nervous then I would say there is something wrong! I don't have a date and I'm nervous but, I really...REALLY...don't want to keep up with this weight and then some because I'm sure I'd gain more. I already have enough aches and pains that make me stop in my tracks. I want to be able to go places and do things as I get older...I want to retire and actually be able to do things I can't do during my working years. Anywho......people mean well but, heck we've all heard horror stories and if you did your studying and researching for your surgery you saw and read stuff too. The risk is much, much less now than it was even four years ago. They've improved their techniques etc. So think hard and deep....maybe a pro/con list for yourself and take it from there. Heck even call the surgeon, therapist or your bariatric center's help desk and let them know your feelings. I can bet they'd offer help Good luck with whatever decision you make just make sure its the best one for you -

Feeling Of Food Sitting In Throat?
LosingItForMe2011 replied to jemjem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had read somewhere that when the dialation is needed it sometimes takes 3 visits for it to stick. Mainly because your organs are elasticy so they bounce back. Thats why it takes a few times stretching it for it to take. Good luck...I hope you both are feeling better! -

40's New Beginnings

Hello Panda and Txs, They say it's basically natural for us to worry about not losing weight after going through this...mainly because all other diets have failed but, my surgeon says they've yet to have folks not lose with it. Our bodies do rebell though...so just keep eating the way your nutritionist told you, take your Vitamins, get your Water in and do the exercise and the scale will budge. I haven't had the surgery yet...but working on it. I"m thinking I may end up with surgery in June depends on how long it takes for the paper work. -
What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
LosingItForMe2011 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hello Vamp, I got the Twisted Cherry and Fuzzy Navel. Haven't tried them yet though. I also use Cappella flavor drops that are sugar free. I love the toasted almond and coconut in my chocolate shake. I used the snickerdoodle in the vanilla shake.....didn't like that as much. I find vanilla shakes I can taste the Protein powder more. Next try will be the PB2 mixed in with it to see if that helps cut the taste. Have you tried that? blankmama, I bought my sytrax nectars from Amazon. Oh and does anyone use the Calcet Citrate Chews? I just ordered some of them online too. I like the chocolate...going to try the lemon. CAn't find them in the stores so had to go online. -

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

I just picked up two containers of Syntrax Nectar...hoping they'll be good for a fruity flavored protein. I don't want all chocolate so need to mix it up. I also bought the unflavored in hopes to mix it with chicken broth or other foods like oatmeal, cream of wheat etc when it's allowed. -

I just tell them I know me and my body better than anyone possible could and this is the right decision for me. I've taken a long time to come to this decision with lots of hours of research behind it. Thank you for your concern but, this is best for me. -
Hi All 1 Month Out
LosingItForMe2011 replied to tishizme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you eating at regular intervals? I was told today that it's really important to spread it out and get in all the Protein and 64 oz of Fluid each day. Are you meeting the eating requirements provided by your nutritionist? Sometimes are bodies rebel for a while but, stick with the plan and the scale will start moving again. -

Thanks! It's the Losing part that's the hardest...isn't that why we're here in the first place. I know it's to prepare your liver for surgery...makes it easier to get it out of the way but, yeesh 20-24 pounds is alot. I'm trying though! I'm going to try out the chat if anyone is interested By the way I'm going through Tufts Medical Center's Weight and Wellness Center in Boston -

Hello law - sorry for the heck you've been going through. I hope you're feeling better soon! Did you already have a cold or something prior to surgery or came down with pnemonia because of the surgery? Hey KB! I'm doing ok. I've seen the nutritionist and started the low carb, high Protein stuff...it's not easy but, I'm getting there. So only 9 days for you...wow! Do you have to do a pre-op diet? Welcome JenniferD and Tammy...hope you're doing well. I have 3 more requirements besides the losing 20 pounds to go. I have to attend a post-op meeting, doing that tomorrow...see the therapist, doing that Thursday and then another visit to the nutritionist that's next month. Then hopefully a date after that.
