Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
LosingItForMe2011 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Any other helpful hints? I bought some flavorings for my shakes that have no calories, no sugar etc. They are by Capella. Folks use it for coffee but, it's great to make your plain shakes take on other flavors. I add coconut and toasted almond to my chocolate shake and it's fantastic! I've also added the peanut butter flavor to my chocolate and liked that too. -
40's New Beginnings
LosingItForMe2011 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Cathy, YOU are definitely right and I hoping our 40's group will keep us all remembering that. I know I'll probably need a kick in the pants because I'm bound to keep comparing myself to others. Not that I meant to but, after so many diets and programs you pray THIS is the last thing you'll need. So naturally the comparison comes along. I try to keep telling myself that this will be different and whatever will be will be as far as how quickly I lose but, I do know I'm going to do everything in my power to follow the program my bariatric group prepares me to do and to continue to work towards a healthier me Thank you for the reminder and welcome to the boards! -
Med Alert Tag - Do You Or Will You Wear One After Surgery?
LosingItForMe2011 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got one with the regular tag with red med alert symbol. Now that I have that I'll be making some of my own bracelet portions of it to add to it and change with my clothing choices for the day. I guess it's a hobbie that will take the place of eating that I use to do. NOT A BAD IDEA! Keep my hands busy instead of my mouth -

Cant Keep Anything Down!
LosingItForMe2011 replied to estherv7978's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
esther - seeing that broth stayed down....do you think maybe your body just isn't ready yet for the more solid food or that maybe you're not chewing it well enough before swallowing it? Everyone is different so we all react differently to each food stage. Maybe try blending the food first? So you're getting the more solid foods you like but, in a softer form until your body adjusts? Good luck! -
Advice And Suggestions For The Spouse
LosingItForMe2011 replied to barkatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
barkatt - I think it's great that you want to support her in every way you can. Believe me that in itself is helping her more than you know. How about looking up different Protein shake recipes to help change the flavors for her? Making sure she has all her Vitamins set for when she can start taking them again. Perhaps getting her set up with a bento box for when she can eat, some pretty measuring cups and spoons, food scale...all things to make getting the right portions right for her. How about buying a Bariatric cook book for when she's ready to eat regular foods and both of you can cook through the cookbook together That's what hubby and I are going to do. Good luck to you both -
I believe she meant If you're NOT to big to begin with the weight comes off slowly.

What Did I Do Wrong?
LosingItForMe2011 replied to stephane0603's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you chew the grilled chicken well? I've found grilled chicken dry and tough and I don't even have the surgery yet. If you didn't and took too much of it you may be having a hard time digesting it. Have you tried Papaya enzyme tablets or a little meat tenderizer to help digest it? -

The Simple Things In Life
LosingItForMe2011 replied to aleyampat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After reading all these posts I'm glad I bought a new recliner for my office LOL WE have them in the livingroom but, it's noisy out there. I'd never sleep, my dogs would keep me up. At least in the office I can shut the door so if everyone else is up, I can still sleep if needed. -

Got The Wind Knocked Our Of My Sails :-(
LosingItForMe2011 replied to jgarland's topic in Insurance & Financing
jgarland...the reason "not medically necessary" just means they didn't receive all the information they wanted the first time. I was denied as well for the same reason but, there are "specific" reasons. I've been denied twice....first time was because they didn't think I'd been under the bariatric center's care long enough. Three months was their requirement. My surgeon proved that and they passed that but, then denied me for the next things they wanted. This time they said the same 3 month thing which my surgeon argued they approved last time so they said they wanted a new letter. They also wanted a new letter from my surgeon that explains all about the surgery again but, with CPT (procedure) codes. (If you're not familiar with medical billing...it's the numbers used for each procedure billed.) She was going to write that over again but, they also wanted a NEW letter from my PCP that actually has the words "medically released for surgery". She had written a letter stating I'm a long standing patient who's suffered from morbid obesity the whole time and that I would benefit from Gastric Bypass surgery. Apparently she needed the extra words. Problem was she was on vacation and wouldn't be back until AFTER my first surgery date. So now I"m waiting to see her this coming FRiday, get a new letter and we can apply for the surgery again which is set for 7/11. Hopefully it will be Medically Necessary again. INsurance companies use that as a catch all when they want additional information. If it were truly not medically necessary then there will be no other requires being asked of you or your surgeon and they've seen all the evidence they want. Even then you can appeal. IF YOU call your insurance company it does help push it a bit too. Good luck! Again remember this doesn't mean a permanent NO yet. -
Help! I Am Having Gorging Problems!
LosingItForMe2011 replied to Nita1019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well the first time they wanted more info...my weight for the past 4 years and proof that I've been under supervised care for 3 months. My surgeon supplied them with that and they accepted those additions. Then they denied me a second time stating they needed proof about the 3 months of supervised care, a letter from my surgeon that included CPT (Procedure) codes and Medical release from my PCP. Well my surgeon argued the point on the 3 months that they had already approved and so they gave into that again but, wanted a new letter explaining it. My surgeon was ready to write both letters again but, my PCP went on vacation and wasn't going to be back until AFTER my first surgery date. Well so much for that. I see my PCP this coming Friday and praying I get the appropriate letter in place so my surgeon can then apply for the new surgery date of July 11. It's so nerve wracking! I was all set to go, had everything in place for 6/6 then let down. So I'm trying again...I won't give up! Always remember YOU'RE WORTH IT! You're worth your effort to better health...see if that helps with the food stuff -
