    Unrelated - Profile Pic Trouble

Happens to me with the ticker as well. I think there is a delay for it to update. Do you know if the profile picture you're trying to change to is the correct size? That could be it as well.

    What Now

In the end it really is your decision and only YOU can answer the question as to whether you can do this following the rules given to you by your bariatric surgeon and nutritionist regarding eating, amounts to eat and exercise etc that needs to be done. You know how often you tried before to lose weight and how successful you were etc. Definitely read and do research for yourself. DLC provided a lot of good links and I'll also recommend the Weightloss Surgery for Dummies book. It was a great reference and compared surgeries available. Explains well what needs to happen etc. Good luck with your decision

Feel Like Im Going To Be Sick

You're welcome Bambiv. Don't be afraid to ask for a different nausea med either. They have quite a few they can try. Not all are the same! Once you get that under control you'll be up walking around and feeling good. Nothing like walking when you feel nauceous...I was there...thankfully we found what worked. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon and can get the heck out of there

Feel Like Im Going To Be Sick

I had issues for a while with nausea as well. They tried 5 different meds on me in the hospital until we finally got it under control. The best med for me was the suppository they gave me but, you can only have that once every 12 hours. I did notice if I moved too quickly I would feel the nausea come quick. I hope they find something to help you feel better and have it subside. I also came home with a script for anti-nausea meds. I used them daily for the first 4 days but, then eased off them. I found a few different days I needed them again....I took half and it worked. I'm now 3.5 weeks post op and haven't had the issue for the past week, week and a half. good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

    4 Days Out

Call your bariatric group or re-read your exit papers from the hospital. It should list how much Protein they want you to take in each day. Then track it. You won't feel hungry but, you do need the protein in order to heal properly. Good luck and hope you feel better.

    Post Op Complications

kwhetzel...are you still in the hospital? I hope you're doing well and they've got it all set for you. Sending prayers.

    Frustrated

Are you watching your protein intake? Are you eating enough? If you don't take in enough protein/calories your body will stop losing. Best suggestion is to talk to your nutritionist/bariatric group for suggestions.

    Which To Have

I agree with Christopher the Dummies book is great! It was recommended to me by my bariatric group and I can understand why. Very informative! I chose the gastric bypass because I had already had the lapband for 4 years. I had complications from the lapband until if finally came out in 2010. After that I knew it was the gastric bypass for me because I didn't want to fail "again" even though the lapband issue wasn't my fault. I was very successful with the band for the first 14 months then I had issues. The issues lead to unfills that lead to weightgain. Had the band revised in 2008 and then never had it adjusted correctly again. For the next two years I suffered with overfills, unfills etc until it finally prolapsed and had to come out. So far so good with the bypass - I"m 3-3.5 weeks post op.

What Do I Need For The Hospital Stay?

OH and a bra.....I brought one that was pretty loose because the last thing you want is that tight elastic wrapped around you!

What Do I Need For The Hospital Stay?

I wore their johnnys the whole time. First one was put on with opening in the back, then the second one was put on with the opening in the front. I wore the socks they provided me the entire time and they have grippies on them so you don't slip. I brought my phone and charger then pretty much only used that and watched TV between dozing and talking with my husband. I did bring my kindle but, honestly, between walking, being poked, tests and talking with my husband it never came out of my bag. My surgery was 4 hours but, that's because my liver was adhered to my stomach so she had to peel them apart, then she had to undo the stitching on my stomach that was there from my previous lapband. Once that was done she was able to do the rest. I was had a lot of trouble with nausea so moving around too much was making me sick...brushing my teeth was tough until we finally got the nausea under control. Then the next thing you know you're being tested to make sure everything is doing well with an upper GI. GACK at that dang crap they make you drink. I felt I was left in there for quite some time...not sure if it's because of the revision vs someone who has the RNY that is not a revision. Once back to the room they started with the Water, Clear liquids etc. Chapstick was my friend for sure! I wore lose clothing to the hospital (sweatpant type) and just used the same outfit with a fresh pair of underwear to come home in since I barely wore the outfit an hour before I had to get into the Johnny.

    New Here From Wva

WElcome to the boards Great place to learn, read, research about what can happen pros and cons. Mostly pros of course which is nice My hubby has been very supportive and although he's not going through the process, I'm thankful for all his help and support. They of all people live with us through the struggles and challenges so when you have a supportive one it's great. Good luck with your journey and poke around, I think you'll love it here

    How Is This Even Possible?!?

It's definately a good thing to lose weight....gets your liver in better shape for surgery. Most centers want you to lose weight before surgery anyway so you're a head of the game.

    This It I Am Dumping!

Protein Shots! No Not The Painful Kind!

How does the saying go? If it seems too good to be true it probably is. That's what these shots or bullets are. I've yet to hear of one that has the correct kind of Protein. Definitely stay away from them. Besides...the Fluid you mix in with your protein powders does help towards your fluid goals for the day.
