    Cycle Changes & Pcos?

I know the surgery through me off. I didn't have PCOS but was regular prior to. I was due the day after my surgery on 7/11 and haven't had it or any signs of my cycle yet. At my age, no more kids for me but, wouldn't mind if the cycle stayed away LOL.

    Im In Love With…

I'm chiming in since there seems to be too much fun going on in here. Go away for a few and geesh you miss it all. Kevin starts a neat thread and now we're at spanking? I'm game. hahaha Honestly, I think it's great folks get a boost in confidence. We've lived long enough beating ourselves up and putting up with others helping with the beating. I'm looking forward to the day that I "like" having my picture taken or I'm not embarrassed because the pose isn't right or my chins stick out too far. This surgery is far from the easy way out to say the least. I've had my struggles since mine on 7/11 and it's a learning process even though I researched things like crazy before, during and after. The ups and downs of worrying is this going to work for me etc. Heck, still going through all of it but, it's encouraging to be here and read the positive and yup the negative things about the whole process. I think it's great to be able to look in the mirror and say "Hey, I like the new look and healthier me." Looking forward to it myself and this is encouraging Thanks Kevin for putting it out there, DL waiting for your pictures (says Tinkerbel LOL) and working with everyone here on our journeys. Go FOR IT!

My First Post As A Newbie!

welcome to the boards and the start of your journey!
  6. It does take a while to lose the water weight and swelling weight you get from the surgery. Then you do hit more plateaus along the way. Just have to stick to your program and know that it works. I know my scale hasn't budged in a few weeks as well. It is frustrating but, I know it will move

    Going Back To Work?

Everyone is different really. I know for me I wouldn't have been comfortable going back after 5 days. I ran into a few issues with an incision infection that didn't appear until my second week so that kept me out even longer. A sit down job will be easier but, make sure the desk isn't hitting at the point of an incision area. You may find it gets irritated.

    Offically On The Losers Bench

They'll send you home with something for nausea and keep up with it. After about a 4 days I was able to cut the nausea med in half and then only took it on days I had it which was only maybe a day or two the following week. After that....only had it once and managed to walk it off instead of taking something. I was terrible in the hospital and it took 5 different kinds to settle my stomach but it was managable once I got home and started walking more etc. Good luck and congrats!

    Restaurent Card!

They are worth a try but, not all restaurants accept them. Have you looked at the dang kids menu's lately...man, talk about junk I wish restaurants offered healthier choices for them as well or at least 1 healthy option. Hot dogs, grilled cheese, mac n cheese, cheese burgers and french fries are the main kid choices on a lot of menus. So much for choosing a kids items depending on where you go!

    Good Med News!

I hear ya there! I've had to take antibiotics since my surgery. The first time I took this last one I gut it into 4 pieces and thought I was going to throw up everything because it tastes horrible. So the next time I cut it in half only...same thing. Now I just take it whole because it dissolves so quickly it doesn't get stuck in my pouch. I just make sure nothing else is in there and I take in plenty of fluids before and after. (Anyone reading this though should check with their doctor or pharmacist prior to doing this with ANY med. I checked with both of mine first and received permission because of the kind of antibiotic it was.) Congrats!

    Full Length Mirror

I was thinking I'll be buying one myself. I've always only had from the chest up but, I think it would be a motivator as well.

    Revision Op

Juditha, I had a lapband put in, in 2006, revised 2008 and removed 2010. It is a great tool for those it sits right, mine did for the first 14 months and I lost about 80 pounds with it but, then the trouble started. Never got it right after that and after the revision. It was years of hell with the reflux and no sleep because of it. I had my RNY 6 weeks ago. I've run into issues due to infection but, otherwise I feel good and no adjustments necessary! No reflux either and that in itself is great! Good luck!

    Spaghetti-O

I was also told no pasta or rice. Puree'd stage to me is one of the hardest because you're on it for a while and not many food choices. Definitely call your nutritionist they are there to help you! They have lots of ideas on how to get the protein in with the items you do like.

Not Feeling Well Should I Be Concerned?

Hello Christi.....Have you tried asking your nutritionist? Maybe getting back to walking will help with energy. I know I feel better when I do my walking. I feel more sluggish when I don't. I'm only 6 weeks out but, I've notice in the mornings I'm more light headed than later on. I figure the hydration during the night plays a part. Is there a time of day where you're feeling it more etc? Best to call your nutritionist or surgeon just to make sure everything is good etc. Hope you feel better soon!

    Hi, Newbie Here

Welcome NancyW! RNYTalk has been one of the friendliest sites I've been on. I had a LapBand from 2006 to 2010 and used Alex's LapBandTalk website. After my band came out I naturally looked for an RNYTalk thinking.....I sure hope Alex created one and he did. I was so excited to find it. I know exactly what you mean as far as unsuportive help on some websites but, this isn't one of them. Everyone here has been very helpful and friendly. If you have a question you can just post it and you're bound to get at least one answer but, in most cases several. Welcome to the boards!

    Newbie Questions?

First step is to call your insurance company to make sure they do pay for bariatric surgery when all requirements are met. Then after your initial information meeting they'll probably provide information you need to get your appointments started. Each bariatric group is different and require different tests before THEY will approve you for surgery. Generally they will approve you when they know your insurance will agree with their decision and they'll submit all the paperwork for you to the insurance company for the approval. They will also work with your insurance to get the approval should your insurance wants more info or requires more testing etc. Because each bariatric group and each insurance is different it's very difficult to pin point what is required for you to get approval. Your BMI alone is already high enough to get approval from most insurance companies. Adding co-morbidities such as high blood pressure just about assures it for most insurances. Some insurance do require a minimum of 3-6 months, some a year, of supervised weight loss weigh-ins. Your bariatric group can help with that. Good luck!

    Lump On Incision Site

Definitely call your doctor and ask. There is no harm in it but there could be harm in it if you don't ask. Coming from a gal who had an infection in that same site. I'm sure glad I asked.
  25. Thanks jenneliza, Quite the strong bugger isn't it. My doc told me if I soil any clothing it should be washed in soap, water and bleach. Hoping I don't soil too much because I have mostly dark clothing and that and bleach won't go well. I bought some clorox wipes so I can wipe down the bathroom often. I'll have to mix some bleach and water in a spray bottle too. I told the guys not to go into my bathroom but, they can be thick heads. I can only do so much. I've always been careful with hygiene, Thank God but, it sure makes me nervous that it's spreadable. We cancelled a cookout my husband planned for his friends this weekend. I told him I didn't think it was smart to have people over. Besides the fact that these antibiotics are making my stomach and intestines more uncomfortable right now. Hopefully that gets better too...if not my surgeon gave me her cell phone number so I could call her over the weekend if need be. I thought that was nice of her.
