Can't Seem To Get Past The Word Shake :-/

Unflavored Protein powders still have flavor. Most are made of soy or whey and everyone I've tried still has the flavor or soy or whey. shakes can be tough after a while that's why it's so important to find a few that you really like before you have the surgery. Then also get flavorings, SF pudding, SF torani syrups, Capella Drops etc. They all help change up the flavors so you don't get tired of them. One of my favorites and PB2...it's powdered Peanut Butter. I put 1 tablespoon to my chocolate shake and its heaven when I want something savory. SF pudding mixes help flavor the shakes as well. You only need a tablespoon of it or less and there are lots of flavors out there.

    Does This Seem Right?

KA...we all have that work to do! We got here for reasons we sometimes don't realize. Sometimes it's just what we learned as we grew up. food was a reward for good behavior, a soother for sad times or a replacement for shortcomings somewhere else in our lives. It's also the center of celebrations of every kind and for social gathers. It sure makes it hard! Definitely looking into it though helps. It has helped me quite a bit and at least makes me stop and think most of the time before I eat it. Believe me......I'm far, far from perfect and I've had a bite or sliver of some things but, each time I did I thought about it before I did it and that's probably why I didn't eat the whole dang thing. It was something my therapist and I worked on....one day she asked me....what do you think we can do or say that will instantly make you stop in your tracks and think before you do it. I scratched my head and said I have no CLUE! hahaha But that sentence, that question sticks in my head every time I look at something I shouldn't have. I don't believe there is anything I CAN'T have...but, I do know that a lot of it has to be in moderation. Because if I think I can't have it...I want it all the more. It becomes an obsession so to speak. Like when the plumber comes and shuts the Water off.....you want water or have to go to the bathroom. right? hahaha. Tell me it's wet paint and I want to touch it to see. LOL Anyway......it's a battle but, one worth fighting! Hugs to you and YOU CAN DO THIS! Feel free to PM me anytime. We'll fight it together!

    Blah

How did you cook your eggs. I scrambed mine when I had that happen. About 10 times before ate them with no problem, then one day wasn't even halfway through and dead stop. the YUCK feeling came and bingo it all came up and it wasn't pretty. Haven't eaten scrambled eggs since. Hubby googled how to make poached eggs for me and he's been making those instead. They are alot more moist and go down easy. Yum!

    Is The Sky Falling?

Also when you're losing weight, there are hormones stored within that fat you're losing. Those hormones start moving around and run through your system as it leaves your body. I know at around 3 weeks I was feeling weepy but, started moving more and walking harder and faster with music in my ears. It sure helped

    Does This Seem Right?

Well...I'm not quite sure what to say other than SF fudgepops are liquid when you take them in, frozen cherries have natural sugar so maybe you didn't over do it on those so your system accepted them. You must be chewing well because I would think the skins on those would have been tough for your system to digest. Frosting free cupcake, yes cupcakes have sugar in them but, not everyone dumps. I've seen folks who have had this surgery never dump no matter what they eat where as others take a bite or two of a sugary or fatty food and bingo they're in trouble. Since you realize that you've "pretty much cheated everyday" you might want to think about and work on why? You had this surgery for a reason and one of the toughest things we all have to work on is the Head hunger. Believe me I know all too that whole head game and the fight it takes not to let it get out of hand. It was always a struggle for me so I worked with a therapist who specializes in food/weight issues. There are lots of great books out there too.

    Question About Post Op Complications

Ask your doc for a different pain med. Maybe the one you're using isn't the best for your body. I didn't have gas pains but, I have a high tolerance for pain (so I've been told) but, I know many have and walking helps it move along and out of your system. Hope you feel better soon!

    What Was Your Breaking Point?

I've struggled with my weight all my life. I turned 40 and was still overweight after saying I didn't want to be overweight when I hit 40. Finally had enough with high blood pressure meds and getting even bigger but so afraid of re-routing my organs. I remember seeing the commercials for it and I kept saying if there were something less evasive I would go for it...then saw an add for lapband. I went for it just before my 42 birthday. Well 6 years and a revision to a bigger band, a really bad prolaps and emergency surgery to take the band out...I was done and figured I was going to be overweight but, at least feel good. Well the big 50 is around the corner, the weight started coming back on again because the band was gone and I finally said....I just need to do this. The medical world has gained 6 more years of experience performing the RNY surgery and taking care of patients and it's become so much safer - I'M GOING FOR IT! I need help to help me stick to eating right and getting healthier. So......I want to be healthier for my 50th birthday! Started the process back up last year with the same surgeon that did my lapband but, discovered that was part of the problem...he didn't listen to me. So after going through hoops and being left on my own with them, I changed bariatric centers and started again. TOTALLY different experience and I couldn't be happier with my surgeon and the bariatric center she works in. I'm down over 40 pounds - it's coming off slow but, I know that's how my body works but, at least it's coming off and coming off healthily because I'm following the rules. The best part is I'm no longer gaining so to me that's worth it all!

    Fall Clothes!

Thrift stores and clearance racks will be my friend. I'm down over 40 pounds since I started this process but still don't have the confidence to even try on clothes in a store yet. Does anyone else find it frustrating how the same size differs depending on where you buy them? I'm looking forward to the day I actually like shopping for clothes. Slowly but surely it's coming

    Rash?

I thought the rash I had was from all the tape I had on my skin but, I had that combo of meds as well so there's a chance that's why it was worse.

    Terrible About Vitamins

My nutritionist says no to gummy Vitamins because they don't have as many vitamins in them as the others. There are a lot of nutrients missing or are lower in the dose. I take daily 2 flintstones multi vitamins, B12 subliguil, D3 and Calcium. I'm having a hard time getting the calcium in though because of the wait. If I could take it in the morning with the others I'd remember but, I have to take 600 a few hours later and then another 600 2+ hours after that. I keep forgetting though.
  24. LosingItForMe2011

    Dumping

I'm told flu like symptoms....combo is different for some...but, can have cold sweats, shivers, throwing up, poopies and then the real need to sleep. Not everyone dumps though. Search the boards for dumping and you'll find more info as well. Hope you're doing ok.
