I can take a few bites from his plate and be full. hahaha So he's on a diet whether he wants it or not....he actually loves it because it's helping him lose weight too. Good luck on your journeys!

    3 Wks Post Op Tomorrow!

Everyone has there own journey though and everyone's body is different. But...it's only been 2.5 weeks and I can bet even all the Water weight and swelling isn't gone. You're body needs time to heal. While healing it will sometimes retain Fluid to do so. If you're sipping your water and getting the right amount of Protein in......the weight will come off. Oh I know all too well how we can't help looking at how everyone else is doing and comparing ourselves but, it's a terrible path. It really is true that each journey is different. I'm a notorious slow loser on any diet so the doubt is hard to push away but, as my surgeon said....if you're following the eating and exercise plan, I've never seen it not work. I trusted her with my life during surgery so I trust her words now. Take it easy on yourself....be kind to yourself......and most of all be patient. YOU are SO worth YOUR effort! Go for it! Hugs

Need Some Answers Headed To Er.

Lactose intollerance is not uncommon after RNY surgery. Folks who never had an issue with "milk" products can find that they do for a time after surgery. After being away from it for a month, you can try it again to see if the intolerance goes away. If you're now eating your Protein vesus drinking it and the problem went away, that may have been it. Hope you're feeling better.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

If you're doctor recommends that you take in Protein shakes after your surgery I highly recommend find one you can tolerate now. Often the shakes do taste too sweet even though they have low sugar. I know for me taking in at least one shake a day post-op was necessary to heal because it has high protein and I wasn't able to eat the protein for a while. For my Water after surgery I wasn't able to drink plain water at all. I think because my taste buds really changed. I bought Mio and other SF flavored things to add to it. They all helped a lot and I had to change it up frequently. Hope you find the right combo

    Diet Thoughts?

Atkins and Southbeach are low carb. Atkins is high Protein. Basically eat your meats/proteins first...then veggies...then fruit and stay away from white flour, sugar, white bread, Pasta, rice and potatoes.

    High Iron

I haven't had high Iron but, my B12 is high. They made me stop taking it daily. My surgeon recommends 1000 mg per day but, now I'm on 500 at least until my next bloodwork visit. Are you taking a supplement/vitamin that has iron? I'm assuming no if your doc is ordering bloodwork.

    Attitude Adjustment

Hi nikkiba - how far out from surgery are you? Losing weight rapidly can make for havoc on the body and brain sometimes. I definitely noticed changes in my mood and stress level. It was pretty tough for a few days..heck maybe even a week. But, I kept trying to keep myself in check and you know what.....when I was finally alone I just let it all out and cried my eyes out. Sometimes crying cleanses the soul. Then...it was over and I went about my routines. You're not alone.....you're not losing it......you're going through changes and it's natural

    Clearance!

    Lap Band To Gastric Bypass

Johnnybots...I was a lapband to RNY revision. My lapband came out 2010 and I had my RNY 7/11/2012. My lapband prolapsed and emergency surgery had to be done to take it out. I had suffered through a lapband revision 2 years after I had it put in and then the 2 years later the prolaps. I too did well with it but, after it came out I gained some back and decided I needed to stop the weight gain before I gained it all back. I've had a few infection issues with the RNY but, I don't regret having it done. Looking forward to when I feel 100% with it all. So far the weight loss is going well. I'm a slower loser but, still happy with the results. Good luck with your journey

    Hospital Stay And Anxiety Issues

If it helps the hospital stay isn't bad at all. They come by to check on you, take your blood pressure, make sure you get up to walk etc. Everyone here, as far as I know had to stay in the hospital at least 1 day most 2-3. I stayed 2 nights and was released around noon time the 3rd day. It's always best for the nurses and doctors to know any issues or concerns you have. They can help you better that way.

    Messed Up

Oh no...doesn't sound like fun. Hope you feel better soon! Emotional eating is one of the toughest things to learn how to control. After-all our emotions can be quite strong. For me I have to remove myself from the situation...go for a walk, go to another room and grab a book or play some music. It's certainly not easy but, it's do-able.
