  1. Happy 39th Birthday agchick96!

  2. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary agchick96!

  3. I didn't know this or wasn't told this until after I had my second fill, but it is best to go back to liquids for a day or two after your fill. My doctor didn't tell me this, but I found out at a support group meeting. But it seems like anytime the band is "messed with" there tends to be a little swelling. But your doctor or whoever does your fills may tell you something different. Good Luck!
  4. Hi Lynne. I had the lapband done at the Physicians Centre in College Station by Dr. John Mason. He's an awesome doctor. I would highly recommend him. I'm not sure about the cost at present. Sometimes they have "specials" if you are self pay. They might also finance it. I don't know much about that since I was fortunate enough that my insurance covered it.
  5. Hi Everyone, I was banded May 31, 2007. 3 weeks ago I had "officially lost" 45 lbs. But due to being really sick I had to have my band let out. I'm less restricted than I was at about 3 mos post op. I while I seem to be able to eat what I couldn't eat when filled, I do notice that my stomach has shrunk some. I go back this week and get a fill and am looking so forward to it. But I feel that I am losing it very slow when I do lose. Like in the 3 mos time prior to my last fill I had only lost 10 lbs. I'm hoping that when I'm back to where I was fill-wise I am able to be more careful about what I eat and more motivated about exercise.

I went through the same thing with my last fill and everything I ate hurt or came back up. I was overfilled. I suffered with it for almost 3 weeks before I went back to get an unfill. I go back on Tuesday to get some of what was taken out put back in. If it lasts very long I would go back to your doctor.

My support group leader mentioned taking extra zinc if you are losing alot of hair. That it seems to help it come back or slow down the loss. This is in addition to the protein drinks. And it's just the cold-eze losenges that you take to prevent a cold.... It's worth a try.

What do you mean you start your TOM?

    May 2007 Banders

Well evidently I was overfilled. I had my third fill three weeks ago (up to 1.5 cc measurable)and the day after I wasn't feeling very well. I had a hard time getting anything down or keeping it down. This went on for a week and a half and finally I was able to eat. Well this weekend I couldn't eat anything and keep it down. So I called my doctor and they were able to work me in this afternoon. The PA took out the.5 cc that she put in last time and told me to see how that works and come back next week (like I was already scheduled to) and she'll put back around .25 cc. All I know is I was very miserable during this time, but the good news is that I lost 4 lbs during the ordeal. The PA told me that most people that are too restricted tend to gain weight... I hope everyone is having a good week.

I went through the same thing. I went from 2 cc to 2.5 cc and could barely eat anything for almost 2 weeks. Just yesterday I have been able to eat w/o any problems.

This probably going to be a stupid question, but how exactly does it feel when you reach the "sweet spot". I've had 3 fills, totalling 2.5 cc. It's been a week since the last fill and sometimes I have problems such as excessive belching after I eat or drink anything and sometimes I don't have any problems at all. I can't have solids until the evening. So I drink a protein drink for breakfast and usually have some sort of soup for lunch. By the evening I can usually eat something solid. But yesterday I felt like or thought I was hungry and so when I got home I had a few "100 calorie oreos" and i felt so miserable, but I've had them before since the last fill and didn't have a problem. I guess every day is a different day and the band has "moods". Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
  12. I'm from Bryan, but Klovermom is from Temple.
  13. My doctor used the small band (4cc). At first I was afraid it was going to work because after the 2nd week I was extremely hungry and even felt hungry after my first fill. But my doctor assured me that it was normal, that not everyone was the same. After the second fill, again 1 cc, I noticed more restriction than before, but yet I was still hungry. I have had my 3rd fill of .5 cc and this one really did it. I did the recommended liquids for 24 to 36 hours and just today (Friday) am able to eat a little around lunch time. I continue to drink the liquid protein drinks (that's usually my breakfast). But in the evenings I guess my band finally opens up and I'm able to get a little more down. I know when I first had the surgery I was stuck at having lost only 13 lbs. and I stayed at that number for what seemed like forever. But now I've lost a little more. I've even been able to go down 2 sizes, which I had never done before with any diet I had ever been on. Good luck to you.

I just had my 3rd fill on Tuesday of this week. I definitely feel more restriction than before. And when I drink anything i gurgle. I hope this goes away soon. I'm wondering if they put too much in this time and if I might have to have a little taken out. I'll give it until next week and see how it goes over the weekend. Congratulations on losing
  15. Congratulations!!! And starting a low-carb program before the surgery is the best way to go about it. I only did mine for 2 weeks but I was on glucophage and so my liver wasn't storing fat anyway....
