  1. Hi everyone! I have not posted on here very much, but I look at the other postings pretty often. I had surgery on 11/08/07. I have a 14 cc AP band. I have only lost about 27 lbs since surgery and most of it was in the first couple of weeks post op. I am starting to get discouraged. I have very little restriction but am scheduled for a fill 02/20/08. I guess my problem is knowing what to eat. I have a whole book on what not to eat, but not what you can eat. I guess I am having problems with meal planning. I find it difficult to find things that are low carb AND low fat. What are some meal suggestions? Another problem is eating things I shouldn't. How do u guys keep from eathing things you shouldn't? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I am not 'fat' enough??!!!

Hey, don't lose hope yet. I was in the same situation, (actually my height and wieght is the exact same as yours!) I had a sleep study done and was diagnosed with sleep apnea and got approved due to the sleep apnea. I am just waiting for a surgery date now! Good Luck!
  6. Hi everyone! I am new to the site and just found out today that I am approved for the lap band.....I am very excited....and nervous. I have been looking at the post on "complications" and I guess it has got me somewhat worried. It would be horrible to have to have your band removed, but I still think that the band is the best choice for me. I would appreciate any advice anyone has to give! Thanks

    New and Approved!

I never really thought about eating alone being difficult, but now that I think about it I guess it would because you don't have someone to talk to and help pace yourself with eating to fast. Are you exercising as well? I have turned into a couch potatoe and don't excercise that much anymore.....that will be another thing I will have to change. I used to love to take kick boxing class at the Y, but that has been years ago. You are doing great with your weight loss!

    New and Approved!

Thank you guys for your encouragement! I know that this is the best option for me to prevent future medical conditions, I have never had any surgical procedures before, so I guess that is also adding to my nervousness! How did everyone adjust to not being able to eat like you once did? Was going out to eat difficult in the beginning? Thank you all again! Darlene
  9. Hi everyone! I just found out today that I am approved for surgery, I don't have an exact date yet, but I am pretty sure it will be in October. I am so excited....and nervous! I am 25 yrs old, live in Kentucky, work at my local hospital as a RN and have a wonderful supportive husband. My surgery is going to be done by Dr. Timothy Wheeler in Ashland KY. Good Luck everyone! I hope we can all be each others biggest fan! Darlene

Hoping to be an October Bandster

I am probably having the lap band in October too! (I just found out today from my insurance company that I was approved and wasn't able to reach the doctors office today, so I am assuming it will be in October) I am 25 and have a BMI of 38, I'm so excited to be approved and can't wait....but still a little nervous......I have never had any surgeries before and also afraid that I won't be successful. Good Luck to Everyone!
