    wanting to much too soon.

Girl, this is super hard to read!!! What I think you are saying is it's going too slow for you? Enjoy the process...you will appreciate it all the more rather than waking up thin one day. You have lost a ton already! I'm 3 weeks out and have lost only 6 lbs since surgery. I just try and not let it get to me.

    Protein bars ?

Shmily, would you mind sharing your 400 calorie, 90 gr protein menu. I'm running at 600 calories and can't seem to get more than 70 gr protein. I log every bite on myfitnesspal to be sure. I'm only 3 weeks post op though and actually expected to hit 800-900 calories minimum by week 5 so will probably get easier then.

How to deal with people, specially family

Oh wow, you are starting off this path on the wrong foot if you put down payment but haven't even talked to him yet. If you want to be successful and have his support, he should be your #1 go-to person.

    gallbladder removal and upset stomach/diarrhea?

I had severe, unexpected diarrhea for about a year after my gall bladder removal, and that was before my sleeve (talk about fun!!!) anything and everything could set it off. I did find a website finally that told me to take a calcium citrate 3x a day because it is excess bile in your digestion tract since the gall bladder is no longer storing it and shooting it out as needed. The bile is supposed to cling to the extra calcium and solidify. It took a week or two, but it did help tremendously.

A vent about where I'm losing inches from...

My belly is shrinking but my hips are staying put. I have some stuff that you can fit both my hands into the waist plus have room but the hips still fit great. Hate it!

Newbie here, 3 weeks post op

Welcome princessdi... I recognize you from the other sleeve website (don't think I'm allowed to mention it here) This forum is great, good to see you here. I'll be 3 weeks on Wednesday.

    help.! not losing

From what I've read, your body won't use that whole 50 g at once, it will "dispose" of the rest. You might as well go with a smaller tasty one with less protein that's easier to get down. I like Premeir protein. The chocolate is thick so I mix it with 1/2 c skim milk. Makes it about 35 G protein. Not chalky to me at all. Tastes like chocolate milk. I often do 1/2 at a time and it only takes 10-15 min to get down. Then I can go back for the other 1/2 and it's still nice and cold. They also make strawberries and cream. It's thin enough that I don't add milk and I can get it down quickly. 30 G protein. Tastes like strawberry milk but not as sweet. I also do 1 cup skim milk mixed with a scoop of unjury chocolate splendor. I heat it up and add a little sugar free hazelnut Torani syrup. Tastes like fancy hot chocolate. I do have to drink that from a lidded stainless steel up to keep it warm and keep me from smelling the whey protein.

    help.! not losing

I wouldn't call losing 31 lbs "not losing". That's over 15 lbs a month, I'm sure you probably haven't done that before! Do you know why it's taking you so long to get a shake down? Maybe try a different one? I'm less than 3 weeks out and it takes me about 1/2 hr usually but mine are yummy. Make sure you find some you really like and play around with them if you have to.
  9. Wow, thank you for sharing your story. No leak here...so far, so good and praying it stays that way. I'm so glad you're doing better. There are complications if you search for them. I just dontt see them on here daily if you are looking.

    baby food

Baby food is fine but I opted for blended soups, malt o meal (thinned with some chocolate premier protein shake, protein shakes, canned carrots are easily smashed with your fork, mashed potatoes w/ cream of chicken thinned with unjury chicken broth, no sugar added applesauce, sf pudding, sf jello, etc. Much more appealing to me. My doctors not all that concerned with carb count that first month when you're doing all you can to just get food in.

    11 days post op- liquids

I'm surprised you weren't given an eating plan. Definitely go by your surgeon and not other peoples eating plans. Everyone on here goes by different plans based on their own surgeon recommendations,
  12. You are also brand new to thyroid meds. I've been on them over 20 years and have learned the hard way that you need to be on a certain dose for 6-8 weeks to see how your body handles it. At first, mine got adjusted every few months until the levels were good. The meds do not really help you lose weight, my dr said basically they may give you a 5-10 lb loss and the rest is up to you. Being hyperthyroid doesn't mean you will lose weight either. My level is currently .01 (we are working on bringing it up) and I lost nothing from that. It's been there about 6 months. My body feels the best at about a 1 so that's where my dr aims for even though some other doctors would call that hyperthyroid. I also have pros and insulin resistance, those are mostly caused by being overweight and will at least partially resolve themselves just by losing weight. It's kind of a vicious circle! I don't know kg but I've been sleeved 2-1/2 weeks with a very high starting weight, BMI of 55 and I've only lost 6 lbs so far. We are all so different. Keep your chin up!
  13. Sleeveless in seattle

Ok whats wrong with me ! LOL

Currently at 42 lost and no size drops either.
  14. At the seminar they told me to aim for BMI of 25 as goal so yours sound good.

    Day of surgery turned away

My surgeon has turned people away for not following the pre-op. Has even gone to start surgery and backed out because their livers were not shrunk. The only reason I can think of turning away losing too much is if they were starving themselves and not strong enough for surgery.

    hmmm

Mine gave me a water bottle with a straw straight after surgery. No issues. Center of Excellence too.
  17. LyndseyD, I just now noticed your update last month. It sounds like the cause of death was just what you needed to help you press forward a bit. Your words show me the growth you've had since your original post. I'm so thankful for your story, for both sides of this surgery to be told even though most of us only want to hear about the sunshine and butterflies. I pray that you can keep pressing on to live your life to the fullest, help those kids to remember mom in a positive way and not stay stuck in grief. Enjoy your new healthy self, knowing that your sister would be so excited to see you this way. God bless.

I hate not drinking while I eat.

The hardest part about not drinking while I eat is I'm not getting in even 1/2 the water I used to. I need to work on that.

    Surgery tomorrow...ahh, the nerves!

That was me 2 weeks ago!!! I ended up kinda going into auto mode and not think about it. Did my normal routines as best as I could and extra housework to keep busy. The day of, I was totally fine.

    Why no drinking 30/30?

My surgeon eliminated his "no drinking 30 min before" rule as he said research has shown the water goes through fast enough not to worry. He has astrong stance on not drinking for 30-60 min after so that it doesn't come back up (from having nowhere to flow through) and doesn't flush your food out, leaving you hungry.

    Are You Dealing With Regain?

I'm just curious did you have the sleeve or DS. Says DS but not sure what it meant that you were fired from DS surgery.

How much everyone lose in the 1st week?

By the end of week one I had gone from 311 (surgery) to 319 (day 3) to 306 (day 7). I guess technically I could claim a 13 lb loss but who am I kidding....I lost 5 lbs. just finished week 2 with only a 1 lb loss. Seems really low for my starting weight and what I'm consuming but at least it's in the right direction I guess.

    My EVERYTHING itches!

I had that happen when I was jaundice from gall stones causing problems in my pancreas. Probably not. Your case but figured I'd throw it out there.

Favorite Unjury flavor and sleep apnea...

I like the chocolate splendor mixed with skim milk heated up with a tiny splash of sugar free salted caramel Torani syrup. A real treat and perfect breakfast as I'm less than 2 was post op. I also have the chicken broth one. It was just okay alone but was like a yummy gravy when mixed with water and cream of chicken soup.

    need help with protein.

Check with your surgeon, you should have a list or plan or something. I was ok for no chunk, fat free Greek yogurt and day 4 post surgery. I've been eating Dannon Light n Fit Greek.
