  1. Me weight loss speeds up when I increase my calories too! Sometimes I can only get in 600 (I'm only 2 months out) but the weeks that I hit 800-900 multiple times I lose up to twice as much!!!

    What is 5:2 diet plan

I believe there's a whole thread defining and discussing it. Try the search feature or veterans forum. I'm not on it so can't give you details.

    has anyone else had....

I see your surgery was March so no reason to steer clear of raw fruits unless for some reason they bother you. I've never had issues with them and my surgeons office reccommended starting to add them in at 5+ weeks. There's no reason they would cause bleeding in stool, so I'm agreeing with others who said call doctor. Unless you're constipated or straining when you go because that could definitely cause it.

    Hypothyroid & sleeve

I still have my thyroid technically but dr said it is virtually useless and I'm almost fully relying on Armour. Been sleeved for two months, lost 35 lbs pre-op (over 5 months) and 31 lbs post op. Slower than many who started at my weight but I'm pleased. I'm smaller than I've been in 15 years!

    Start regular food next week

Yes I still measure everything and log it all on myfitnesspal. For example, the taco meal, I almost finished my dish of 1.5 oz meat, a Tbsp beans, tbsp yogurt. Spaghetti squash, I do about 1/3 c meat and space with a heaping Tbsp squash. Fake lasagna, 1/4 c cottage cheese, 2 Tbsp sauce, 8 turkey pepperoni cut up, 3/4 oz mozzarella. Grilled or roasted chicken, 1 to 1-1/2 oz plus a few bites of the veggie. Hope that helps.

    Insurance Denied

Insurance wouldn't cover for me so I financed over $18,000. Sucks but nothing I can do about it but move on.

    Start regular food next week

Some meals I've had this week: (I'm 2 months out) I eat what my family does only sometimes altered. -ground turkey & marinara over a small amount of spaghetti squash -taco meat (turkey) and black beans w/ cheese, Greek yogurt and salsa (no tortilla) -turkey deli meat and a slice of cheese (in a hurry & on the run) -grilled chicken & zucchini -insides of a chicken enchilada (Mexican restaurant) -roasted chicken and carrots -cottage cheese w/ marinara, turkey pepperoni & mozzarella (I call it fake lasagna)

    Oxygen and Frustration

Never had oxygen after any of my surgeries. Not sure what you're meaning.

    When did you try salad?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered but the search is not working well for me right now. How far out were you when you tried salad and fresh veggies? I need some variety and roughage in my diet

5 weeks post op and slow weight loss

If you have been on here long, you will notice a post almost identical to yours just about every other day. The first month I only lost 1-2 lb a week also. For me it picked up at the time I was able to up my calories. If I can hit 800 calories that's when I get my biggest losses. Your protein seems a little low to me. I aim for 75 minimum but try for higher. Be patient, the scale is moving and will continue to as long as you make wise choices.
  12. No offense but your before and after look like you and your mom, or at least a much older sister. Congratulations, you look great.

5 weeks out and had severe pain

Oh no, that is terrible? Did you have any other symptoms beforehand? That's definitely scary to have happen after you probably thought you were out of the woods with complications. Praying for a speedy recovery.

  15. I thought it was my imagination, but I noticed I'm getting some darker upper lip hair that wasn't there before. I'm guessing it's hormonal.

1 week post op-need more calories?

I didn't estimate my calories, I logged, and still log, everything on myfitnesspal. The first week I was at 250-350. The second week I jumped up to 450-500, and ever since week 3 I've never gone below 600 or higher than 800.

    Re-Sleeved, anyone?

I'm sure there are others because I've seen posts like this before although I don't recall ever getting a clear answer as to the circumstances. Curious why the need for a re-sleeve, too.
  18. Start 347....goal 180 Want to lose 167 Surgery day 312. (Almost 21% of goal weight loss) One month 297 (almost 30%) 7 wls (current) 286. (36.5%) Thank you for suggesting this. I feel so much better about my progress now!! FYI, these percentages are based on my realistic goal weight of 180, not total excess weight.

    Birth control fluctuation?

Yes, my doc said the pill can cause mild weight gain at first because of the hormones.

8 weeks post op down 27 pounds. Am i on track?

I started at 347, lost 35 pre-op. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 25 post-op. Our numbers are fairly similar. I feel like a slow loser compared to many people who post but, honestly, I'm enjoying losing steadily but not having it be so in your face, if that makes sense. I know I'm eating what and how. Much I need to but I'm not doing great at water intake so that's what I'm focusing on improving at this point.

    How Many Calories @ Day?

I'm at 7 weeks and mostly getting 600-700 with 75 G protein. My NUT wants me to aim for 1300 calories when I can, but for short term at least 800-900, which is stil hard. I do find that the weeks I am able to eat more that I lose more. The first few weeks when I was only getting 250-400 calories, I didn't really lose anything.

    Death

Duodenal switch is a sleeve plus intestinal re routing. It is a much riskier procedure, I believe stats show it is the riskiest of all weight loss surgeries. Most insurance companies won't cover it because it is so high risk. The surgery centers around here refuse to do that surgery. I wouldn't worry, she had a different procedure than you, plus had already had bypass, which is also riskier and more complications than the sleeve. I'm sorry she passed but try not to let it affect your decisions and weight loss journey.
  23. Felt very empowered after my surgeon visit and NUT visit. Had to find creative ways to pay also as my insurance also has an exclusion. Made me more anxious I think but hopefully helps me appreciate this opportunity more.

    One Month Post-Op: Nauseous & Light-headed

Sounds pretty normal for someone who's not eating or drinkng much to feel light headed and sick. Pump fluids as much as you can, if nothing else. If your doc won't prescribe it, you can always do over the counter omeprazole. Seems a lot of sleeve patients are on that for a while for reflux or heartburn. I'm 2 months and still on mine.

    One Week post OP questions......

I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time so I had double that tight gurgly chest feeling. I would take a small bite and wait to see if I had room. I never got sick and never threw up. My surgeon wants us to do anything in our power to not throw up the first month, so I certainly wouldn't be forcing myself to do it. Eat 10x slower than you think you should and way smaller bites than seem normal.
