Self Pay Peeps - Anyone elect to sign up for BLISS?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to virtualpisces's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh, another thing... The BLIS rep called me before my surgery to verify if I wanted additional policies. They are very selective about what surgeons they will even offer coverage to. It is more an insurance policy on the surgeon than yourself. They are offering the insurance because your surgeon has a proven track record that says there is little chance they will have to pay out. Still, it did reassure me that I had the policy. -
Self Pay Peeps - Anyone elect to sign up for BLISS?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to virtualpisces's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was self pay and my surgeon included the 90 day leak and infection policy. I was given the option to add longer timeframes and other coverages but they were expensive and I opted to not add extra. -
Failing miserably at post-op diet
Sleeveless in seattle replied to hollandkaitlyn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You've gone too far to fail at this! Let yourself heal by following the plan, don't "try"I vs just to see if you can. That dr got paid a lot of money to give you a tool. Follow his directions and use that tool! You won't feel guilty or miserable that. You do not want to be the sleever who feels worse or who throws up all the time because they push boundaries. You realize you did wrong and sound like you want to fix it, so make good choices and you'll be fine. -
new foods?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to ALLGODSGRACE's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do chicken and veggies often. Spaghetti squash style spaghetti with salad last night. Monday was taco bowl (taco fixings without the tortilla for me). Fish n veggies, turkey burger (no bun) n veggies...get the idea? Haha, I'm boring but luckily my family likes most of what I make. I'll throw in sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes once every week or two for them for a change. -
When can i?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to xojessny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shouldn't be a problem now that you're a month out as long as you have no open wounds. -

Premier Protein Shakes-only 1/3 protein absorbed?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to onajournee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My nut highly recommends them. I'd do my own research and formulate an opinion from there. -
Not losing fat on outer thigh?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was going to suggest a damaged nerve also based on my husbands experience with having it in his leg. Maybe the bigger leg thing is just a coincidence. My right leg is very noticeably larger than my left and has only gotten more noticeable since surgery. Sorry, no advice just wanted to say I understand. I'm definitely not losing where I'd like. -
Difference in surgeons is like night and day
Sleeveless in seattle replied to TonyaNKy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was allowed to drink whenever I wanted until I was on "regular food". I don't know that I've heard of anyone on her who wasn't told to restrict their drinking in some way. Some say no drinking an. Hr before or after, some 30 min, my doc says drink up until you eat then stop until an hour after. There are a few reasons for it. -

Wouldn't we feel full longer if we DIDN'T chew quite so thoroughly?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to JeanZ_RN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do know when I eat certain meats I stay fuller longer. I haven't been chewing my food to applesauce consistency for a while now. I've just kinda felt my way through. Never had anything bother my stomach but I do joke that I have a sleeve of steel, -

Sleeveless in seattle replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Feeling bummed...3 weeks stall...LOST!
Sleeveless in seattle replied to QueenA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
34 lbs in 3 weeks?!?! Of course your body is going to stall. That is a crazy amount to lose even with the surgery! Your body is probably in shock. Don't worry, stick with the plan and it will start coming off again in no time. Just to compare...I started surgery day at 313 (lost 34 lbs before that) and in my first three weeks I lost 9 lbs. I never did have a stall maybe because I lose slower. I'm almost 13 wks out and have lost 43 since surgery. -
I could eat tender steak at 4-5 weeks. You can enjoy it soon!

Gallbladder
Sleeveless in seattle replied to pacheka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had sever bathroom probs similar to dumping syndrome after my gall bladder, too. Did lots of research and it seems that it's from the extra bile flowing free since it's no longer stored in the gall bladder. I found a website that suggested taking calcium citrate pills. Apparently it binds the bile to itself. I'm no doctor, but it took less than 2 weeks of taking a calcium pill at each meal and my symptoms went away. Got my sleeve in March and still no bathroom issues (other than some sever constipation at week 4...resolved, thankfully). -
Anybody else tired of the attention?
Sleeveless in seattle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm tired of my weight loss being the topic of every conversation I'm in. I try and steer it away and it's not working. People I hardly know feel free to comment all the time. I haven't even lost that much yet, I started at 347 and am currently 274...still a long ways to go. I'm sure most of them are well meaning but it doesn't always come across that way and sometimes I'm not sure what to say in response. Tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't love weight loss attention... -
well I told my parents..didn't go well
Sleeveless in seattle replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow,your mom is okay with having plastic surgery, just not with surgery that will affect your health?? Quite a double standard! Hopefully she's just worried about you and will come around. -
BM problems at 4 1/2 weeks out
Sleeveless in seattle replied to beachplum's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Water. Lots and lots of water. I had the same prob at 4-5 weeks out and realized I wasn't drinking even 1/2 the water I was supposed to. You are about the same weight I was and our water needs are huge at this weight. Stool softeners usually work by pulling fluids in but if you don't have the fluids to use then they don't work. Try milk of magnesia as a last ditch effort. Supposed to work quickly and better than the mild softeners. As I added more foods and fluids my problem has about disappeared since month 2. -
Good info. Everyone's body is different and I for one don't process carbs very well so I do limit them, otherwise I don't feel well, crave sugar and weight loss stops. It's good to hear what works for different people, though, because it gives people options to try and they can hopefully figure out what works for them since weight loss is not one size fits all.

Who eats McDonalds post op?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out. If I end up at McD, I eat a cheeseburger with no bun or a chicken snack wrap minus the wrap. It's not very often and those are decent choices for being in a pinch. -
