  1. I can get more than that now, I was speaking of my experiences so far. I've never hit 1200 but can regularly get 950 now. I'm 3-1/2 months out and my surgeon and nut are pleased with that. I'm working my way up as I can. They want me eventually at 1150-1300. It's funny, because I've seen people on here talking about eating 600-800 calories at a year out and I think why so little.

    Pain on left side

The stomach portion cut off was on your left side. Probably just normal healing but call just to be sure.
  3. I wasn't advised to do this but it worked for me many times so far. Was getting 600-700 but if I hit 900 once or twice a week my weight loss was always better.

Sleeve Leaks ... Any fatalities reported?

I'd be interested in reading the stats of leaks happening years out...

My butt is in serious denial...

The way my body has chosen to lose the weight so far is killing me!!! I've lost over 80 lbs this year and I'm pretty sure 70 of it has been my top half. My butt is in serious denial that I ever got this surgery. I'm down 4 sizes in shirts from a 30 to a 22 but my bottom half can still wear 26/28. And I'm getting ready to need to go down another shirt size as the 22s are starting to fall off my shoulders. I look so out of proportion it's ridiculous. Problem is with the size of my butt and hips I can't get smaller shirts because they are skintight on that part. Even the 22s that are getting too loose on my waist and shoulders are a little snug on the hips. Dressing and buying clothes is getting to be a chore. Don't get me wrong I am so blessed to be where I am versus where I was last year but I would enjoy actually looking like I lost 80 lbs and less like a weeble (you know, weebles wobble but they don't fall down). My vent for now...

    Percent of excess weight lost?

My doc says 65-75% excess weight which leaves me still overweight. This averages everyone...those who lose 100% along with those who make bad choices and lose little. I'm hoping to lose more but guess I should be happy if I hit 70%.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to follow your journey and see how it goes.

    Terrified

I'm curious what they have told you to make you believe weight loss surgery will cure an autoimmune disease. There are no known cure for auto immune diseases, only treatments. I was diagnosed with Hashi's when I was 12 and have constantly had to up my dosage of meds my whole life. I have been able to slightly lower my dose from losing some weight and hope to get to lower it more (lost 80+, 80+ to go) but that is due to having less body for the hormone to have to run through not because my condition improves.

    MFP goals

    I'm at 45% protein, 30% fat, 25% carb....no, I don't always achieve that but I do try.

    License to eat- interesting problem

I didn't really lose anything week 1-2 and have not been a fast loser in general but there is something to upping calories to achieve weight loss. I lost way better once I hit week 4 and could add real food, thereby also increasing my calories. Doesn't work for everyone, but I definitely lose better when I hit 850-950 calories. Unless you're a giant or workout very hardcore I don't know that I'd aim for 12-1700 a day until you're farther out towards maintenance.

    MFP goals

I'm 3-1/2 months out and get a minimum of 75 G protein and eat 750-950 calories a day. I love my fitness pal and think it helps me even more than my surgery at times.

    Update

Sleeved a week before you and down 49...looks like we are right on track with each other! Good job!
  15. Sleeveless in seattle

How often do you step on the scale?

At least twice a week but I only log it once a week on the same day to stay consistent.
  16. Sleeveless in seattle

is there anyone else who does NOT own a scale?

Maybe it's not important to weigh yourself often in the quick losing phase but you will probably want to weigh fairly regularly when you hit maintenance and want to make sure you're not gaining. I'm still losing well but I weigh myself once a week as a precaution.

Maybe change surgery from RNY to Sleeve?

My advice would be do the sleeve if it's an option. It is a less risky surgery with less complications. I technically had 193 lbs to lose to be healthy BMI and my surgeon said sleeve would be his first choice for me. I'm 3 months post op and have lost 82 lbs total, 48 of that being post op.

    7 Month Surgiversary Surprise!

Wow, that's so low! My surgeon and NUT both want me hitting 1150-1350 as so as I can. I'm 3 months out and manage 750-950 a day so far. Stay safe!

    7 Month Surgiversary Surprise!

Good for you!! So. How low did you have to drop your calories to in order to drop weight again?

    1. Surgery will not help or hinder your hypothyroidism. You may be able to lower doses as you lose weight just because there is less of you for the drug to run through. I was diagnosed as a child and while it does make it harder to lose weight, it hasn't been too much of a problem so far. I lost 34 in2-1/2 months prior to the sleeve on a low carb, low calorie diet. I knew I could not follow that long term without the sleeve, knowing I was preparing for surgery really helped. I'm 3 months post op and have lost an additional 48 since the for a total of 82 lbs since January 1st. 2. I was never a meat fan. I'd rather have the potatoes, veggies, rolls, etc. I know I need the meat now so it hasn't been a problem. Your faves are veggies, fruits and nuts....on a normal diet fruits are high in sugar and nuts are high calorie and extremely high fat. With the sleeve I can enjoy a few bites of fruit or 1 oz. of nuts and be okay with it. I only eat them as Snacks as I need Protein at my meals to meet my needs. 3. I rarely had heartburn before the surgery but during my endoscopy the dr saw signs of reflux. I took omeprazole for one month after surgery, had reflux when I stopped taking it so was pit back on for 2 months. Just went off again so we'll see how it goes. My dr office said some only need it the first month as they heal, some need up to 6 months and a few need it for good. 4.im not anemic so I don't have much to say on this. I thought meat was good for people who were anemic so maybe adding that will help. 5. I started bariatric chewable Vitamins at 3 weeks post op. They're kind of gross but oh well. Recently switched to costco kid chewables. My dr. Orders labs at months so I guess we'll see and adjust then if needed. 6. My first 4 days were miserable and every day was better after that. Everyone's recovery is different and there's no way to predict how yours will go. I was back to mostly normal by 2 weeks though.

    10 weeks out.

Depends on the food. I can eat 1-1/2 to 2 oz meat, but a 5.3 oz Greek yogurt. I'm 13-14 wks out and have never had a stall. Might get more responses if this was on a different forum other than ladies gone wild. Just sayin...

I have three questions concerning the sleeve

    - have never had a stuck feeling. Never been sick or thrown up either. -never had a rapid heart rate although anesthesia can cause that - I was super tired for a few weeks, feel normal now.

I think I maybe having regrets

I've never felt sick or threw up. I was verycautious with following the no drinking rule and also chewing small bites very well. Moist food helped a lot too. Hope you figure it out and get to feeling better!
