*acid not avid...
-
My surgeon requires the meds for 30 days after so avid doesn't get in the way of healing your tender new stomach, and then will keep you on them on a case by case basis.

Taking it day by day!
Sleeveless in seattle replied to cdmcnair18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am exactly one week and although we all heal differently, here has been my progression so far. Day 3 was my worst, I felt dazed and in pain, not even wanting to do anything but sleep although it was hard to get real sleep. I stopped the pain meds that night because I think they were making it worse. Day 4 I was much more alert but the diarrhea kicked in, oh yay! Went to church for an hour in morning, rested all day, then back for 2 hours in the pm. Not terrible. Day 5 (Monday)I felt so much better, like it had been a whole week of recovery overnight. Yesterday was like a normal-ish day, no naps, minor pain, drove for the first time, still restricted on movement but I've got older kids who made dinner, did light chores, etc. improvement came so quickly after day 3! Honestly at this point my back pain from hunching and not a ton of movement has been the worst of it today. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. -
ONE MORE POUND!
Sleeveless in seattle replied to Z28ChevyCamaro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please tell me the surgery date on your info is wrong...did it really take over a year to get where you are at? I mean, I would be thrilled with losing 40-something pounds in a year normally but with the help of vsg I would hope it's faster. I hope I didn't offend you, just really hoping you mi-typed the year. -
Post op and seems surreal
Sleeveless in seattle posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 6 days out today. Most of my pain is gone, just uncomfortable to sleep at night still and the dealing with what I can and can't have, etc. It doesn't seem real, though. I read these forums now and it still hasn't clicked that I had the procedure done. It's a really weird state of mind. It actually creeps me out a little bit that I had it done even though I have been researching it for 20 months. Maybe that is it? I spent so much time researching it that my mind is still stuck in that phase? Sound familiar to anyone?? -

Average Weight loss on Pre Op diet
Sleeveless in seattle replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 2 week pre-op diet of 3 protein shakes and a 250-350 calorie meal. I only lost less than 10 lbs but I had already dropped my carbs a calories for 2-1/2 months prior so my body wasn't shocked as much as if I hadn't. In those 2-1/2 months I lost 28 total. -
Anyone just starting their sleeve journey ?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to Megan00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To prepare, I read this forum daily, upped my water, gave up most breads, sweets and soda 3 months prior and starting exercising 30 min 3x a week. I've lost 34 lbs so far. I feel like I've given myself a good start. -
Do you have a pension plan you can take a loan out on? That's what I did. It is at 3% interest and I'm paying it back to myself. Way better than any of the medical finance company's.

I'm scheduled for surgery first thing Wednesday morning and ever since last Wednesday I've been getting more and more anxious each day. It has freaked me out that my countdown is in days, not weeks anymore. My stomach is "ugh" feeling all day long. I'm emotional, feel like crying several times a day, not like myself. My head spins and I think of everything that could go wrong. It doesn't help that I'm self-pay, I keep thinking of long term complications that could happen that my insurance won't cover. I have had no doubts and felt complete peace about this procedure until this weekend. I've been very overweight since I was a child and well over 300 lbs for at least the last 13 years so I know I need this. I'm hoping its normal that I'm feeling this way but it still is no fun!

Any regrets?

I'm scheduled for Wednesday and am very nervous too. Nice to hear from others who are recovering well. -

Thank you everyone. I'm hoping these nerves die down a bit. I feel bad for my husband and kids. -

Sleeveless in seattle replied to Tammylb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was anxious too but it was a breeze. It felt a little weird waking up but other than that my throat was sore the rest of the day and I was tired. I went home and took a 3 hr nap. -

Sleeveless in seattle replied to shelly513's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for being so open and honest in sharing your journey. And my favorite question....how is the skin doing???? I'm the same height as you and not too much under your starting weight with 180 as a goal. -
How much weight did you loose, before you could really notice a change in your apperance?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to takingaleap's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow, you drop sizes quick!! I started a size 28, have lost 26 lbs and am still a size 28. The bigger you are, the more loss it usually takes for people to notice. -
How many calories on pre-op diet?
Sleeveless in seattle replied to Jen40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is no more than 870 calories for 2 weeks. -
I read somewhere....
Sleeveless in seattle replied to jujube's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut said it is not the coffee but what you put in it that could be a problem. Also that it does not count toward fluids. -
Im so upset!
Sleeveless in seattle replied to rosie13182's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't let your surgeon get you down...that is 13 lbs! No small feat, right?! I'm guessing because of your starting BMI which is very high, about the same as mine, and I'm expected to lose faster at the beginning than someone who has a lower BMI. But don't sweat it (my dad always used to say that), the weight loss will keep going and one day your surgeon will be saying "wow!". Personally, I'd almost rather lose a little slower than "normal" just because that will give my skin a better chance and I won't draw as much attention as if I'm losing massive amounts right off the bat. Just my thoughts... -
Thyroid changes can happen with hormone fluctuations (so I've been told...I'm not a doctor). For instance, it is not uncommon to develop thyroid problems right after giving birth even if you had no problem before. It usually evens itself back out by around 6 months from what I've read. I'm curious what your doctor had to say about it.

Having my GS surgery in March
Sleeveless in seattle replied to Magician44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for March 19th also! Starting my pre op on March 5th, not looking forward to that too much. Have already been watching my intake and starting exercising the first of the year to help get me prepared which has led me to drop 15 lbs since then. I've lost 22 since I took the first big step of scheduling my seminar and getting the process started 5 months ago. Excited to have started losing but sure seems like I should have lost more with all I've cut from my diet and the activity I've added in. Oh well...story of my life so far, but not for long!
