    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi other December sleevers! I'm sure everyone can hardly wait...I know I can't! I'm scheduled for dec 9th. I'm 39 and weigh 250ish (how sad I really don't even know). Good luck to everyone!

    contraceptive question

Since I had my last kid 17 years ago, I've always had the IUD. Only took it out when it was time to exchange it. It was slightly uncomfortable during insertion but nothing too terrible. And it felt like I had bad cramps the rest of the day. I love mine.

    REJECTED!

It's hurtful because you probably always wonder if this person would have liked you in your heavier body. It's sad that he can't seem to handle it and just say something nice! I know how you feel though. Previously I had Lapband and was pretty much normal weight. I was out with my then boyfriend. Him and another guy starting joking about these big girls at the bar. I was mortified. I told him after that was the size I used to be and it was very insensitive. I always think fat people are discriminated more than any other group!
  7. It's funny how everyone can have completely different experiences with the same operations. I was a little nervous about getting the sleeve (mostly because of the time I need for work). I've had Lapband, revision, removal, and gall bladder and all of them was super easy. Went grocery shopping when I came home. Hopefully I will feel this way with this one too.
  8. I have had 4 surgeries (3 related to Lapband and 1 gallbladder removal). All the scars were in the same place. Even with having surgery so many times, it faded so much that I hardly notice them.

    Coconut Oil

I like using it on my face at night. My daughter has been using it too and believe it or not it helped clear her acne. I was trying a spoonful a day but that didn't last long. I felt nauseated.
  10. I looked into it a little bit but must of those active suits I checked into weren't accepting new clients. Not only did I experience a lot of pain with Lapband but I had 2 additional surgeries to take care of it and mountains of medical bills. My insurance only covered my 2nd and 3rd surgeries at 50%.

Surgeon trying to talk me into band.

I know my answer will be biased but I was so completely miserable and sick with the band. I had 2 surgeries after I had it put in. I think I suffered needlessly for months. I have many personal friends that have had Lapband. Of the ones I know, they either had it removed due to complications or just haven't had much luck with weight loss. When I lost on Lapband I did lose quite a bit but I also worked out 5-6 days a week of very strenuous exercise. Either way I'm so anti-Lapband!!

    Band to sleeve success question....

It's so reassuring to read threads like this one. I had Lapband in 2009, revision surgery in 2010, then had it removed in 2012. I have since regained the 90 pounds I lost with the Lapband and just anxiously awaiting my sleeve!
