dfwtxmissy replied to morgan53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use My Fitness Pal...have for a couple of years. -
Oh Hell no..LOL..sorry but I watched several of my co-workers have to go thru a second and third surgery and made up my mind that this would not be my choice...Sleeve it was and very glad I made this choice...45 pounds down and looking forward to the rest of it coming off without issue.

I love the meatballs..I order those and the balsamic asparagus and have left overs for the next day. Didn't know about the whole wheat Pasta however. -
Surviving when life sucks
dfwtxmissy replied to southernsoul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My prayers are with you. I understand the grief. We lost our 4 month old granddaughter in December and the pain is unbearable. I grieve for my son and daughter in law. It will get better and talking to someone is the best thing you can do. I cannot even start to understand the pain you are going thru but it will get better. Give it time and be positive. You are a strong person and will be ok. -
Zip line. And have the hubs throw me over his shoulder.

I haven't lost any. I am going on 4 months now.

Foods you can't tolerate since surgery
dfwtxmissy replied to kmiller13137's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
eggs and jalepenos. Haven't been a fan of eggs to begin with..Now I can't even stand to smell them. Loved peppers but evidently my stomach didn't. I haven't had bread and won't even try it. Sugar bothers me which is good. So I just stick with what I know I can tolerate. -
Whose start weight is 255 or more?
dfwtxmissy replied to cheyenneb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 255..Surgery date was October 7, 2013. 5-3. Now I am at 210. It's a slow process. Be patient. -
I was doing the chewable Advantage and gagged everytime I would chew one...I switched to Celebrate capsules ....I am hooked...but this is just me...try each one and use what is right for you.

Squid, I asked him about the Biotin and he said that was not the issue. I have Rosacea and will be using Metrogel and oracea which is basically an antibiotic that is used for acne and facial breakouts....yep...puberty...LOL
-
8 to a size 7...from wide to regular...12 weeks out...
-
Ok..no hair loss but I feel like I am going thru puberty again...My face is erupting and yes...I take Biotin. I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Monday...gonna ask if it's the biotin and then go from there.
-
I started taking Biotin 10,000 mcg before I had surgery..hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones and not lose.
-
I haven't started losing hair yet and it will be bad cuz my hair is already thin as it is...I have started using Nioxin which is made a big difference...just keeping my fingers crossed....

General anesthesia...time warp feeling
dfwtxmissy replied to gmanbat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok...I got no time warp...As they were wheeling me out of the preop room, it was "here is something to help you relax" and next thing I know I hear, "her blood pressure is too low". I barely recall opening one eye and seeing a form of a person and then closing said eye. Then I wake up in my room with the hubs whispering in my ear. Whatever happened between these 2 points, I have no clue. -
10 days.

Something Beautiful for Mums...
dfwtxmissy replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow...I made the comment to my husband as I got my hair cut, colored and highlighted, that this was a boost for my self esteem. I have made this comment many times before and he said he doesn't understand why I had low self esteem to begin with. This letter makes sense and I try to think positive about my looks and weight.. Thanks for posting this. -
Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
dfwtxmissy replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am going on 3 months post op. I am down 40 pounds. I do not regret getting the sleeve. My only issue is eating seems to be more of a chore than enjoyment but I am sure that will change in time. There are "good" food days and "bad". I laugh and just say to myself my stomach is a fickle female. Can eat something one day and be fine and the next day not so much but that's ok. I will get better. I am enjoying the shopping tho mostly resale because I am going thru clothing so quick. I am enjoying the gym and knowing I can do anything there I want to. My fav is the eliptical machine and am working up to a Zumba class. I am enjoying finally seeing the difference in the mirror. I enjoy the compliments I get at work and my family. There are so many pluses to this surgery. Wish I had done this sooner than wait till I was 50 to finally take this step. Don't give up! -
RESALE...it's greatness and I don't mind spending the money because I am going to go back and put my stuff on consignment so I can get more...
-
I have days that something goes down fine and then again I have the same thing and I can't finish it..I call them good and bad tummy days. It happens...

Can't Wait For It To All Come Together.
dfwtxmissy replied to Shrinking Tammy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi...I too am a tomboy..even at 50. Now that I have had the surgery, I am trying to dress more feminine...If my sister has her way, she will die trying to get me in a dress....she is the girl in the family. My hubby is pretty sure it won't happen. If you are like me, I know you're not, but I had this wild idea that the pounds will fall of and I may have to fem up a bit. Hubby again..hopes this will happen but ain't holding his breath...LOL... I started at 255 and knew with the health issues that run in the family, I needed to be proactive. Diabetes and heart disease. You will be nervous..I almost ran out of the preop room at the hospital. You will do fine and a whole new you will emerge with new ideas. Make this about you.... -
So What Exactly Is "normal Eating?"
dfwtxmissy replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still working on building a normal. Abnormal eating got me here. I am not quite 2 months out so I am still in my learning process here. -
The Food Police Were Out In Full Force Yesterday!
dfwtxmissy replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awesome..I have been lucky enough not to hear any of this. I had Thanksgiving at my Bff's house and since she was sleeved 6 months ago, we know what to eat and both hubs had no comments nor did her kids. Sunday I will be having yet another holiday dinner at my aunts house. I am sure no comments will be made there either. She knows what I have done and joked that she has a childs plate ready for me...Gotta love her...LOL -
I would love to get others opinions. I was sleeved on Oct. 7th and everything is going great. My only dilemma if you want to call it that is that it seems that eating is more of a chore than pleasure. Maybe it's just me. I sit down wondering ...is this going to upset my stomach? Will it settle? Will I be able to sit here and endure it for 30 minutes? Don't get me wrong. I get all my Protein in with no problem. Just curious. Chime in.
