Unexpected NSV - I'll take it!
dfwtxmissy replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You go girl! And I get excited when I still get carded at 50...LOL... But seriously. The little victories that we win whether someone noticing us or we noticing the little things. I can feel the bones of my hips and I can wear necklaces that are shorter in length and I can feel my collar bones and my rings fit and my feet are shrinking. I can go on and on but I have to say the greatest thing is feeling closer to my husband when he holds me close. You have inspired me to look closer at the little things we are going thru. Please keep your stories coming. -
feeling good but stall out a lot.
dfwtxmissy replied to Babiebleu44's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalls suck but I try to look at the inches I am losing, not so much the weight. I measure myself once a week and that's where I see the results which makes me feel much better. -
I am at 203 and can't wait to hit the magic number of 199. My hubs has prepared himself for the celebration and shopping spree...LOL

eggs..can't stand them. Love my coffee. Thanks goodness that hasn't changed. Also found that I like mayo where I didn't before. Just a tsp tho. Evidently it is not unusual to have your tastes change. Which may not be such a bad thing..LOL

I paid maybe 600.00 out of pocket. The rest was covered by my insurance. And I live in Texas.

I am right there with you. I hate to have my pic taken. We did one at work the other day and couldn't even look at it. I know it will get better but alas...not yet...

Where/How/When did you get your motivation?
dfwtxmissy replied to aNewTanya's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My motivation was:Evelyn, Aiden, Jolynn and Brady Ann...their parents Chris and Geri, Sarah and Adam. My kids grandparents didn't live to see them grow up, graduate high school and get married so I am making sure I get that opportunity. Bad habits are pushed aside and it's a new start, new adventure. A bit mushy and I apologize but I am happier and healthier every day and it only will get better. -
You will be fine. Mine was 4 months and it goes by fast. To me the worst part was the last 2 weeks and the Protein shake/soup only diet. Then it's all down hill. You will do fine.

Good luck to the both of you.

What are some of your goals?
dfwtxmissy replied to Shortcake's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. For my husband to throw me over his shoulder. 2. No more plus size clothes..which I am achieving. 3. Make it out of my fifties with no health issues. 4. Wear sleeveless tops. 5. Not be disgusted when I look in the mirror. -
10ways I knew obesity has ruined my life...

So I came to the realization this weekend that I am for the most part, out of the "Plus size" title. While shopping at my favorite plus size resale shop, I found that alot of the awesome, cute tops I was trying on, were too big. I discovered 1X which loosely translates too 18-20 in the plus size world. I also figured out that this size can also be found in the misses sections of most store as opposed to plus size areas. I also realized that I can wear a 16M as opposed to 16W. As I stood dumbfounded in this epiphany, a sense of fear and nervousness washed over me. Silly you say? No, not really. It has been many years since I have worn these sizes and tho elated and almost teary eyed, standing in the middle of Walmart in the Misses section in pure shock, it almost seems unreal. Laugh if you want but I know there are some out there that feel the same. Thanks goodness for the resale store where I take my clothes. Just means I can shop more until I reach the size that she does not carry.

I can't believe I am there. It makes me nervous but I am sooo excited. I can get capris in a size that the legs actually touch me and not be big enough for both my legs to go in one side. I have chicken legs and this has always been an issue in plus sizes.

Awesome...gotta love him...

What's For Breakfast Today?
dfwtxmissy replied to one_more_time's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3 pieces of turkey bacon, shredded cheese and salsa in a whole wheat tortilla. I am not a fan of eggs. -
Congrats. You have so much to look forward to. I have to admit there are down days..I call them bad food days. But it's an adventure. You will do fine and I am sure you won't be the first to "fess up" about eating.

16 days Post-Op, Sad & full of regret
dfwtxmissy replied to LoveNKindness's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am going on 5 months and tho I cannot gulp, I can drink more and more in one single "swig". It will get better. I find it easier and easier every day. You will find that you won't notice the little nuances that come with the sleeve and it because second nature to you. Don't give up the faith. It gets better. -
I really didn't believe it was happening. First I lost a shoe size. Then realizing what I thought was my size was too big. It's awesome but scary. I told my hubs it was like leaving my comfort zone and never going back. Now to find some fun pajamas. LOL Oh and where are my manners. Thanks and you too will be here in no time at all. When in October were you sleeved? I was on October 7th.

Thank you so much HHHappy.

My preop diet was Protein shakes Breakfast and lunch and Soup for supper. I could have 2 Snacks a day of fat free cottage cheese, sugar free pudding or Jello. It was interesting but I lived to tell about it...LOL
