Please keep in mind that most people don't have the ability to leave there jobs for months on end to be on a TV show, and as inspiring as that show can be, even some of their contestants gain the weight back... I've done it before with diet and exercise too. I lost 76 pounds and then I gained it back and 11 more.... This surgery is a tool to help us in our journey to health. Don't feel guilty for choosing to make a better life for yourself, if you insist of feeling guilty do it over not doing it sooner! But I still think you shouldn't feel guilty for either. This site is great for support and if you need some extra, I hope you accept and join our facebook group, we'll hold you up when you feel like you can't do it yourself.

This is where I was in June, my sugery was scheduled for July... I am 39 and was 287 when I started... I dropped 50 pounds in 4 months and went ‘Hey, I can keep doing this' as I really didn't find it that difficult at first, so I cancelled the surgery. Shortly thereafter I gained 15lbs in about a month, just eating larger portions. It leapt back onto me and held on tight. It's taken me almost 3 months to take off that 15 and 5 more but it was my wake up call! I know now that I need this tool in order to succeed long term. It takes courage to recognize when you need help, and great strength to accept and move forward with it. :-)

I did wait 7 months after my referral for my first visit. To be honest I had pretty much written it off during that time. But once I had my first consult in March it was really fast moving as their center is relatively new so their list is not typical. I managed to drop the required weight really quickly so they offered to put me in over the summer due to cancellations but because I was doing so well I thought I'd just continue to do it the old fashioned way but it didn't last long after that so I changed my mind in Sept and they pencilled me in. I realize how spoiled I am compared to the majority. It is a 3 hr drive one way to apt's but so worth it. Are you nervous about being so far from home? And are you going alone?

I have heard many ppl also suggest ear plugs, lip balm and an extension cord if you have possible need for one. :-) Good luck!

I know you are not alone in your date! Go scrolling through the November buddies thread. There are a few ppl that are on that day :-):-) Sorry I can't recall who, but they exist lol

I use my weight from my first bariatric clinic weigh in, which just happens to be my highest known weight. I say known, because I avoided the scale for a long time prior to that so who knows if I weighed more at one time. I always lost weight during my 3 pregnancies, but as soon as I was the only one digesting the calories, forget about it.
