2024 - You can find my 10 year surgiversary update here on https://www.ae1bmerchme.com/blog
2014 - I've only recently began to look into this surgery. I never thought I could get coverage so I never looked into it. I have been overweight for the past 16 years after having my daughter, I never lost any of the weight and hence began my downward spiral.
I have been in the range of 260-290 with ups in downs in that same range for about 10 years now. I never realized how big and unhealthy I was because I loved myself and my body so much. I love my shape but my size, not so much, my clothes, not so much, my eating habits, not so much. I began to realize how out of hand it was getting when one day I had to call out of work because I cried all morning because I couldn't find one thing to fit me correctly, while looking good on me and that I would be comfortable wearing all day. So I stayed home to cry and vowed to change my life.
Once a "friend" revealed to me that she had the surgery and before we met that she had been close to 400 lbs, I was amazed and after speaking with my doctor, I had officially begun the research. She had told me it was the best thing she ever did for herself and she looks amazing. I would have never even guessed it. So now with my BMI being almost 48, she has decided to see me thru this process, I have begun the classes, attended a few seminars and support groups and I am following the plan with my nutritionist and I hope to cut down this 6 month process as much as possible....Wish me luck!! Same to you!!
