I hate to see this so often and I haven't even had the surgery yet but when I speak of it with a smile, I'm surprised how quickly others can wipe it right off my face!! Don't let them determine ur pride...stay happy, you've done a great thing!

In your 6 month supervised diet, did your nutritionist count days ?
KeeWee posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told there was some issue about not meeting 180 days in the program and that there may be another required visit to meet the day requirement. I only have 164 days in by my appointment on 2/7. I heard 6 mothly visits, never 180 days...anyone else hear of this? -
Because my NUT went into labor and left all her patients hanging, seeking help from nearby facilities when she covers all 3 immediate vacinities, now my appointment has been pushed back AGAIN and I have to go to DC from Baltimore just to get my 6th and final appointment. I'm sure hoping to not get a bunch of issues and just move this thing right along..such a difficult and stressful process but soo worth it. Looking for an early March date!!

With Kaiser's 6month program...did u have a weight loss requirement?
KeeWee posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What happens if u don't meet it? Additional visits or denial? -
Everyone may have different answers but im curious about what I should expect..

Thanks, I was concerned if they would check to see if I'd been takin my vitamins. I planned on taking them once approved. I hate pills and since imma take these for life, I just want approval first. Just hope my levels meet requirements...imma start takin them this weekend. -
Which insurance do u have?

Who did you surprise or impress the most with your results?

Who had the most to say? the most negative reaction when they heard of the surgery? who didn't think you could do it? Who do you wish could have seen your success and why? -
Thanks. Oh yeah Nancy Lum, she works with my surgeon Dr. Averbach. Unfortunately I have Kaiser and thats only because we must complete their 6 month program and use only their providers to get approved to see the surgeon. So the closest I can get to is Capitol Hill in DC. Thank goodness everything is covered 100% and with this being my final appointment, I'm just ready to submit and get this part over with. I do wish I could just go right to Averbach's group...this would be much quicker....but I'm moving right along..made an appointment for first week in Feb now. Thanks.

Thanks...ugggg

Which insurance did you have? How's Averbach's team? What are his requirements? I have Kaiser but I chose him as my surgeon at St. Agnes, Kaiser has their own requirements but how long did it take you to meet Averbach's requirements?

Good luck to you!! Looks like Imma need a rant post....I had to do the 6 month program at Kaiser and get down to my 6th and final appointment where we submit my paperwork and to find out...my nut went into labor, with no coverage and I cant go to another surrounding facility because she covers all 3 in my general area...Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County. They told me, we don't know what the plan is now. you may have to wait for us to hire another nut or for her return...why didnt they have back up, she was obviously very pregnant but with this surgery, you will see they dont have the same respect for our plight. My only option is to sit and wait quietly and patiently or go to Capitol Hill, D.C. to another Kaiser facility. Ummmm, do I need to say which I chose???? Hey I never been to D.C. on foot...lmao, I took the day off to make a day of it... #endofrant#

Regret to REJOICE! Newbies listen up :-)
KeeWee replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh goodness thank you for a glimmer of hope...it all looks so agonizing in the beginning but as long as it passes, Imma be ready to rejoice, soon hopefully!! -
How can we complete this extensive 6 month program, 7 for me due to a mistake on their part when scheduling but then when I have my 6th and final appointment and prepared to submit my paperwork, they say oh your nutritionist went into labor, we don't know when she'll be back, we don't have anyone to cover for her because she runs all 3 locations in Baltimore, also we have no further information, this will be a waiting game....WTF?!?!?! I have my preparations made, my job is ready, my coverage is ready, my support system is ready, all my supplies and supplements purchased and I should have gotten a date for mid Feb. but now...will i have to just sit n wait quietly for another 6-8 weeks?? How is this fair practice? Right now, they're sure not meeting my requirements...wish I could punish them for an extra month!! GRRRRRRRRRR

Heard it thru the grapevine that you should have met 180 days in the program for approval but at my 6th visit, that only makes 165 days. Another user said that her nut had to use specific wording to try to get her accepted because she also only had around 167 days. Then the nut mentioned that she may be required to come for another visit. Anyone ever heard or dealt with this? Can we possibly be approved anyway??
