So glad you switched too...that was horrible how they treated you. Did anyone ever call you back after going to the joint commission? -

KeeWee replied to jasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Did u end up with a stent also? Are u eating/drinking ok now? Sorry for your pain...get better sooner! i had a stent for 4 weeks, it wasn't in long enough to close up the hole, they just placed a clip on the hole this last friday, i am on a j tube feed. and ice chips. I'm so sorry to hear this. I know this has to be hard to deal with and all you wanna do is get ready to live you new and improved life...what a set back...but not a failure so don't be discouraged. Praying for your healing... -

Well nice to meet u. That's really messed up not to have support at a time that makes u so happy and will change ur life so dramatically. I don't anticipate a great response either from family as their judgements are usually most harsh but I just have my husband/best friend of 18 years and our 16 year old one and only. There all I need but with 8 sisters and 5 brothers u would hope I could feel comfort somewhere there. Either way I started my journey in Aug at 277 with my highest weight of 290. After 8 long months of meeting requirements, I finally got approved 3-25. I have my first appointment with the surgeon 4-11 and hoping to get my preferred date of 4-24! I've researched my poor brain to death...now I just wan.a go and get it done already!!!! I'm beyond ready...

How Long From After Approval Did You Get Surgery Date?
KeeWee replied to ibelieveinme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update- for me 1 week and 1 day!! -
I'm hearing that Kaiser is great when it comes to Bariatric Surgery. I hear that when we complete the mandatory 6 monthly appointments we will pretty much have met all requirements and won't be denied but they just may add additional appointments before they put your case up for approval. I have Kaiser Mid-Atlantic and I wonder how long after you submit paperwork will you get a response. Once you get the response, how long before you get a date??

Update- I actually waited one week and one day...

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that. I just re read this entire story again from beginning to end knowing it ended well and had a huge smile on my face which is what I was seeking just weeks away from own date....and then this....another leak victim....I'm so sorry. How was your outcome? -
My job sure knows how to turn a smile upside down...Smh. So I find out from them, the day I get my approval that as of April 1, I will switch from a Kaiser Select plan to a Kaiser Signature plan. Which means for me that instead of going to any surgeon out of the 8 and any hospital out of the 4, now I have only 1 option for a hospital and 2 options for a surgeon. I've researched my surgeon and patients of my surgeon for over 7 months now and my approval came before the switch so why can't I proceed with the plans I gave on my referral request. I want this doctor and this hospital because I feel comfortable there and its literally minutes from my house. I don't drive but I would get all the way to the borders of another damn state to go there...is like 40 minutes on the Amtrack Vs. the one I can walk to. This is really bringing me down, when I was literally just on cloud 9. I want someone from Kaiser to be on here and save the day and tell me, don't worry, the changes won't apply to you since you've already been approved for that Dr. I waited so long and Kaiser is the one's that have me this late, I should have been sleeved by now, would have been in FEB if they had coverage for their very pregnant Nutritionist but NOOOO, they send me outta town to complete the process...is there no way to fight this?

I got my first appointment with my surgeon on 4/11/14. I have Kaiser-Mid Atlantic...anyone else? I'm just dying to know what else will be required. I'm so anxious.
-
wow, that's a huge amount. goes to show you weren't as big as some that's all. the bigger you are, the more you lose since the surgery is suppose to help you lose 60% of your excess weight. I've seen happy people that lost way less than that and are not losing anymore at a year. Cheer up and keep your head in the game if it's not enough for you!! Good luck with everything!

WOW, cant wait to not sleep for that reason instead of not sleeping waiting for it..lol. Congrats to you! What do they keep bothering you about? I hear they make you walk the floor 2-3x per hour. Is the pain easily alleviated with the meds? what are they feeding you or is it just IV?

Updates please! Ladies how are u progressing? I'm on my 8th month..long story..couldn't make the weigh in but finally my papers are submitted and I'm waiting on the approval. my surgeon says he can get u in in 2-4 weeks...and his only additional requirement beyond the Kaiser 6 months is for u to attend a nutritional class with his nutritionist. Then we can schedule, I want April 24. -
Kaiser-Mid Atlantic patients, Let me make your day!
KeeWee posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started this research, I wanted to know every single step ahead of me but even more, I wanted to know what are the final requirements that needed to be met. A major requirement they wont tell you until you're close to the end is that in Baltimore, you need to be at or lower than your initial weigh in!! Remember that...Good Luck! Well lucky for all you pre-opers, like myself, my Nutritionist is completely lazy and almost incompetent for her position so she gave me the entire Submission Summary for me to navigate thru my own chart and get all the answers. "THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN DONE" is what I'm finding out from another Nutritionist. You should not have to do any paperwork, just adhere to the program rules. This nutritionist likes to laugh every time she finds a new way to slow up your process, saying oh well, at least u got this far...well for this 6 month program to be almost in my 9th month isnt anything to laugh at when I'm doing all the work but she cant do something simple like call the number provided to her and not in the medical record because I have a new phone...she read the number back twice and still called the wrong number and then said instead of playing phone tag with you, I just submitted whatever I had and if they deny u, we can just do it again...mind you OWG only meets twice a month so what should take 2 weeks is now 4 weeks and she still laughs...I'm not sure she understands the mindset of a person in our position, this is not a game and you're pushing my stuff back...sitting all skinny and happy and not caring what I'm going thru is the worst feeling ever! She seemed so inconsiderate. If anyone wants to know what Nutritionist not to see in the Capitol Hill office, I will tell you!! P. S. Here's the summary the Nutritionist must complete for submission......Make it count!! (Not viewable on cell) 20140319104905881.pdf
