Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?
KeeWee replied to KeeWee's topic in Insurance & Financing
Glad they told you ahead of time...but that's bad news to someone like me, last minute after I spent all my extra money toward preparing at home for the procedure. That's a lot to pay though, glad it all still worked out for you because if that was me, I woulda been heading to Mexico...lol. -
Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?
KeeWee replied to KeeWee's topic in Insurance & Financing
Guess i'm just glad it's getting done now and that the office was so helpful in getting me approved with these great benefits while I still had them....as of May 1st, my plan changes, which would have changed my hospital and my surgeon to a place about 3 hours from me and my deductible starts over so I would have paid $1200, but luckily my boss pays half of that too. either way....YAAAAAY for today's victory!! -
Has anyone else ever had to pay 2 copays for their surgery?

Ok guys, glad I did my homework...I called member services myself and I urge you all to do the same when it comes to the unforeseen fees from the Dr's office. So what they told me is...I have a $250 copay for my inpatient stay at the hospital and that I should not be forced to pay that inpatient fee for the surgeon's office also unless it was a standalone clinic and I was sleeping there. It's not, I'm going to the hospital. Member services helped me greatly, they informed me that since I've paid my fee for the hospital, the surgeon's fee will be paid once the hospital has been paid and any remaining fees will be my responsibility but it looks like after I pay the copay, I am covered at 100%, so I am all good. Luckily I had the staff call member services at Kaiser to tell her what I owe because she said she got her information from the guy at St. Agnes(the hospital) and he only quoted her what I owed them and she thought I pay them the same. Just remember, you don't know the skill set of the person you are putting in control of your business, know when something is not right and ask as many questions as it takes until you have a full understanding. I just got my apology call and I am more than forgiving and thankful that it's all cleared up but heed this head up warning!! Surgery is a go for 4/23 and I'm as ready as I will ever be to get it over with...lol. Good luck to you all... -
Vets, what is the story with the loud sounds the stomach makes?
KeeWee posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How loud are these sounds and would others around me be hearing this? How long did it last? Please tell me that goes away with the excess gas. Just don't wanna be on bus with my stomach growling at folks or out to dinner bringing attention of all the patrons. -
How's it going today?

Rapidly Gaining Weight 2 Years Post Op Sleeve Surgery
KeeWee replied to nikki042's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a friend who was sleeved 6 years ago and since had 2 children and gained more than half of the 130 lost right back but she was honest in saying she ate whatever she wanted and never worked out. Well last year, she got serious again and has lost almost all the weight again. Maybe since u still have ur backup tool, u still have a better fighting chance than most when it comes to losing it again, she looks great now. She said she can control her weight now because she's so in tune with her body. -

Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed
KeeWee replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I said all that to say that this is what they do to prepare for bypass surgery for ppl with fatty livers and it works even better so it's now it's own stand alone procedure. You will be fine If you ate a lil bit but if u tell, protocol may have rescheduled. -
Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed
KeeWee replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well last night I saw a special on Fox news about a lil girl that had a disorder that caused her to always be hungry and she went from 50 to 200 lbs before they wanted to do the gastric bypass but her liver was too fatty so instead they did a sleeve and she begin to recover and was no longer hungry and had already lost 15 lbs the day she got home. It was perfect that my husband and daughter got to see that. I pointed at the tv and said see....the sleeve saves lives...lol...proud sleever moment! -

I just saw a story on the news about the sleeve!
KeeWee posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A young girl with a metabolic disease was suppose to get a bypass but doctors decided since her liver was so large that the sleeve would be best. Since then, her mother says she's much better now and losing weight and is no longer consumed with the thought of food. What a great thing to see on Fox local news days before my surgery. So many people only know the first few bad weeks as the entire experience and it annoys me beyond belief to get so much negativity any time I speak about it.. I understand they don't have the knowledge but I sure wish they chose to learn before they judge..Smh. -

Don't wanna share WLS but need to say something?
KeeWee replied to elfnow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I felt uneasy telling people since I got horrible responses some places and plenty of negativity but once I knew the people that mattered supported me and were happy for me then I gained a new perspective....now when co-workers ask what surgery, I just answer truthfully because they will no doubt notice the difference and I found that many of them have researched the surgery themselves and didn't know we were covered. I can tell I won't be the only one in our office very soon. Wait until u see how much of an inspiration u are...maybe u will want to share. Good luck! -
Yes I believe it's normal, I know I just scheduled mine for 4-23 and instantly fear set in..smh. I know it will be ok but it's still a scary thing to go thru... Congrats to you! Feel a awesome...I know.
