I was having the same problem and my doctor put me on prilosec and it has really helped. I only have thrown up twice in the past 3 months that I've been on it.

I was type 2 before surgery went to the doctor last week and my non-fasting sugar was 83 my doctor now says I'm hypoglycemic and need to get my sugar up some. I've been off meds since the day of surgery. I was taking metformin and glipizide.

So went for my 2week post op appointment yesterday I have lost 23 lbs my doctors goal for me for the month was 23 lbs. The whole office was excited. I'm just thankful to lose anything and to be off all my diabetes meds. Finally on to the next stage.

We were told that caffeine makes you hungry and that drinking carbonated drinks cause discomfort. I use to drink soda daily since my sleeve on Friday I haven't craved it yet and I mean everything I use to drink had caffeine in it.

So 5 days post op today no pain just still trying to get water in having no issues with protein shakes, having sugar free popsicles and yogurt with no problems but I was never a big water drinker so its hard to even get 16 oz down I think I will never meet my 48 oz daily goal.

I was just sleeved 1/3 came home yesterday didnt sleep well last night couldn't get comfortable wound up in tge recliner mych better today not as mych gas pain as yesterday for the most part doing well haven't taken any pain meds so far todaym. Can only get better from here.

I only have to do liquids tge day before my surgeon only requires a pre op diet if you weight 300lbs or more.

So time is flying by, and before I know it Friday morning will be here. I am first thing in the morning have to be there at 5:30 am. I have been cleaning my kitchen all day rearranging everything cleaning out the cabniets and even the fridge, I know my husband and daughter think I'm going crazy my OCD is definitely in full force today just want everything in irder before Friday not trying to come home to a disaster. Bad enough I am gonna gave to depend on a 13 year old to cook and clean since my husband burns water they'd probably starve uf it was up to him. LOL.

Getting excited go to my education class tomorrow and then sleeved on Friday.

My pshyc eval was horrible the lady was overweight herself but kept saying why dont you hust diet and exercise. I wanted to say why don't you. She was very rude abd if I could just diet abd exercise I wouldn't be obese in the first place, its just not always that easy. Then my surgeons office tried to reach her for 2 minths because her evaluation wasn't clear to if she had approved me. I had to call her office manager to even get her to call my surgeons office back.

I have my date but I don't get my time until my preop appointment on 12/30 I also have my education class that day and they'll tell me about aftercare only have a liquid diet the night before no preop diet.

I'm finally scheduled for January 3rd after almost a year started my journey on 1/14/2013. After a denial on 11/18/13 had to file an appeal and finally approved and svheduled yesterday. Having it with Dr. Anthony Terracina at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News Virginia. Very excited and so ready for a healthier me for the new year, my best friend was just sleeved Wednesday ready to join her on this journey even though we are 7 hours apart. So I know I haven't updated in a while but I just got the call yesterday and I got approved finally the surgeons office had to get fiestey with my insurance company they said BCBS use to be the easiest to get approved but now they are one of the worst. But I got my date 1/3/2014 at least I get to start the new year off right was suppose to have gone on a mini vavcation with my husband and best friends but that will have to wait this is so much more important for my life.

I was told by my pulmonary specialist that it is recommended for use before and after the surgery he said even people with mild sleep apnea such as mine can have difficulty breathing after surgery and use of your CPAP before and after lowers the risk of problems.

Yeah I'm not putting anything under yhe tree until Christmas we have 2 pitbull/lab pups tgat chew everything surprisingly though they havent messed with tree but our full grown lab gets under the tree snd tries to yse it as a backscratcher and knov ks ornaments down.

Thanks he probably does we have 4 dogs and he has to always be the center of attention but lives up to hus name, Prince.

On November 1st my surgeons office tried for approval with BCBS but on submitted the date of surgery and nothing else they blamed it on new changes the insurance comoanies submittal process. Then they had it voided and on November 14th resubmitted this time they did not submit any supporting documents from my PCP or regarding my comorbalites whhich I have several. When I spoke yo my surgeons office about my denial letter and that it stated they were informed by my Dr office that I was only requesting the surgery due to my weight she said she was not aware of the reason but that this was the only reason correct I advised her not it was not that I have Type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, PCOS, and high cholesterol. She said if that is true than she doesn't understand why they denied me as she had not spoken to the insurance company. So I called the insurance company and was informed that the very person I had been speaking to at my surgeons office was who had informed them of the weight being my only issue and tgat they never received anything regarding my ither issues. I am so angry that I was lied to by her I called and spoke to the office manager and she acted like this wasn't an issue. What should I do? My surgeon is the best in my area I dont want to have to change doctors but I can't believe thid ud happening in January I eill have been dealing with this gor an entire year.

They do deal strictly in bariatrics and are a center of excellence. I agree it is ridiculous that they have no clue on what they are doing they keep telling me that they deal with insurance daily and know what they are doing but, I surely can't tell by their actions that they know anything at all, they even tried to use my EKG for surgery clearance instead of the letter from my PCP. Hopefully today I will get some kind of resolution. My insurance did file a complaint on my behalf on the office staff members that created the issue.

I spoke to a case manager at my insurance I only have about 25 days left to appeal she tried to call tge surgeons office with me on the line and got the run around too so I will be going there tomorrow per her and my friends advice and push the isdue.

I thought about that too I think I have to make an appointment to speak to him not sure but good idea. Your right he probably has no idea about whatss is going in my friend is gaving similar issues toobwith same office staff

So I'm very upset on Wednesday I got a denial letter from my insurance saying my drs office informed them that I was only requesting the surgery due to my weight, so not true I have diabetes, sleep apnea , high cholesterol and PCOS. I called my surgeons office and they claimef they had no idea why they said that. So I called my insurance company and thry informed me that they were told by the very person I have been dealing with at my surgeons office that this was the only reason that person also told me thst she hadn't spoke to th he insurance company I also found out that they never received my PCPs notes or any information regarding any comorbalities. So Friday I called the office manager and she doesn't see where they dud any wrong but this is yhe second time they have tried to get approval the firdt time they inly sent yhe date and no other documents and blamed that on Anthem changing there system do they had that one voided. This time we have to appeal the decision and this week is Thanksgiving and tge office manager and the insurance persin bith gi on a weeks vacation on Wednesday. I am so irritated I having been dea ling with this crap since January half the time the office staff doesn't even return calls I dint want to have to find another surgeon as he is one of the best in hud fueld fir this area. I don't know what to do. Help. Sorry to ramble just frustrated.

Hi mswisdom hope all went well with your surgery I'm still waiting on insurance approval friday will be 14 days since submitted and I have BCBS and they told me the decision can take up to 14 days hope I hear sonething soon been going through this for a year this month

I will not miss going into a store like Forever 21 or Charlotte Ruse with my teen daughter or to buy for her and people stare like what am I doing on there because nothing in there would even come close to fitting me or they stare and ask am I looking for something.
