I have been heavy or overweIght most of my life since the age of 9 years old. In 2006 I was diagnoised with PCOS and have never been able to get it or my weight under control. I was diagnoised in March 2012 with mild sleep apnea, then in April I was diagnoised with hypothyroide disease, on top of all of this I was told that I have high bad cholestrol and low good cholestrol. In December of 2012 I was at work and could not function I went on like this for about a week and finally some coworkers said that I definitley needed to see a doctor, I went to the doctor and found out that my blood sugar was 427 and that I had full blown Type 2 diabetes. Fortunatlley, I do not have to take insulin I am able to control it through medication and proper diet they did blood work periodically and they found that I have fatty cells in my liver and sugar in my kidneys from my sugar spiking so high. I had attended a educational seminar about weight loss suregery in August 2012 but didn't persue it as my husbands health insurance didn't cover the obesity rider, I found out that the insurance through my job did so I joined during open enrollment. I didn't discuss it with my PCP right away until I had my first appointment scheduled and I went for an appointment and he asked had I thought about weight loss surgout my upcoming appointment and he was completely delighted at the decision I had made in the right direction. On my first appointment I had already made up my mind that I was going to have the sleeve, it's been a long ride and now I'm almost there my surgeons cordinator is waiting until my new insurance kicksd in on Nov 1st to file with insurance for approval and I'm hoping for a late November or early December surgery date. I feel like I am well on my way to a healthier life for me and my family.
