  1. So ever since I started on the high Protein diet pre-op, my boyfriend has been telling me that I have a bad odor... He says it has gotten worse the past 2+ weeks post-op where I have only had protein and fluids... He says he can smell it everywhere we go, though it is worse in small areas (car, in bed, etc.)... My hygiene has not changed at all (I shower daily); he seems to think it's the protein seeping out my pores emitting the bad smell... Has anyone else experienced this?? It's a little embarrassing, but if there are any suggestions as to how to stop it they will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! Meg

    October Sleevers - Who else

. Can you add me too?? Amva010@gmail.com. Thanks! Should be all set- let me know if it doesn't work!
  3. Have faith everyone! I felt the same way- I'm just over 4weeks post-op now, but my first 2 weeks were HORRIBLE- I was even readmitted for dehydration! I have never felt as lousy in my life, and I considered regretting everything, but don't believe in regrets... Then suddenly, out of nowhere, I had a ton of energy! Not sure why or how, but turned the corner and have been doing great since (save for this terrible head cold I have going on... I could have lived without it!)! Just do your best on protein and fluids- I set timers to take sips every 5 minutes. Plan for little trips... My daily trip to walk around CVS to get a different med or to the grocery store to try a different mixer for my protein (I hated/hate them all too) was my daily exercise. Just keep going, don't give up. Every day that passes you are one step closer to feeling and being better (and I promise the days will go by!) take it one day at a time

    Help!

Is it close to an incision? I had excruciating pain and it ended up just being a tight stitch (and me overdoing myself with walking too much)... It took a few days of rest then self resolved.

    Iphone App

I'm having issues with the iphone app too... Each time I open a current thread, it says it's on the most recent page but it displays the threads first page...

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Find a high protein drink that you can tolerate (isopure RTD arctic grape is my flavor (which says a lot because I hate most)- 40g in 20oz), set an alarm clock for every 5 minutes for an hour. Take a sip (as large as tolerated) each time alarm goes off... It will be done in 1-1.5hrs, guaranteed! Do that 2x a day and you are set- more than halfway to fluid goals and 100% at protein goals It helped me a lot when on liquid only diet and I had no interest in drinking/eating... Now that I'm on soft foods, I'm finding it a little more challenging to get it in with food... Will probably try to do 1 isopure a day and eat the rest in "real" food!
  12. Basically DITTO. Same thing- all I eat is protein, but in doing so, I'm having a hell of a time getting in my fluids... I'm under goal every day, and while I know a protein shake will fix both problems, I don't want to live life only drinking my protein- 3 weeks was enough!
  13. Water timer worked great for me- I set an alarm every 5 minutes to take a sip- helped get it down without issue!

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

My doctor prescribed it to me too' date=' thinking it would be the best for me, but my insurance company wouldn't pay for it!!! It was going to cost me $350 for 1 month... That being said, I've been using Prilosec...

    OCTOBER bariatric beauties

    B12 Injections

They are carbonate- I don't use them any more- used to pre-op but now I will do citrate as well. Luckyvitamin.com has a few options for chewable calcium citrate- I just ordered some online.

    Best Friends

I just wanted to start a post to acknowledge how great my best friends have been throughout this process... Although one of them is a size 0 and two others are size 4 (they were all blessed with great genes and great bodies), they've all been so incredibly supportive to me. Even as their (self-proclaimed) "fat-friend," they've never once judged me or made me feel bad about my weight or body. From day one, they've helped me weigh my options regarding surgery, and have been cheering me on every day since... Although they live all over the country, their calls texts emails of support, and to check in on me to see how I am feeling, have meant so much. In the spirit of thanksgiving, I am so incredibly grateful for them P.S. I can't wait until we can shop in the same stores again!

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

My first post-op appointment is today and I am so excited!!! Have 3 weeks really already gone by?!? I can't believe I survived the 3 weeks liquid diet... Hoping (fingers crossed) I will be advancing to soft foods today after my appointment! While I know I'll only be able to tolerate a bite or two (as even now yogurt/ pudding goes down like a brick), I'm excited for different flavors/textures!
  20. Same' date=' except for me it's with my best friend (who is a tiny size 0)... It's always been fun to help shop for her, so I can't wait until when we can shop in the same stores!!

Viactiv chewables- not bad at all! Like a less sweet candy, but gets the calcium in

    B12 Injections

I used to give them to myself, though recently my levels have been staying up so I no longer need too... I'm a nurse so I would either bring the vial to work and have another nurse or a student give it to me (the nursing students love the opportunity!). I also brought a few needles/syringes home from work, so I gave it to myself in my thigh a few times... Basically get all ready and then hover over my leg for the longest time before just going for it... For some reason it's so easy to stick other people with needles, but difficult to stick myself!!! It comes from the pharmacy in a vial (if it's injection, you need a prescription) I think some pharmacies will give it right there; other clinics will charge $20 or $25 to give it to you... I've also seen it advertised at med-spas for crazy amounts of money (the MD at the med spa prescribes and gives it), with the idea that it will help with energy, metabolism, etc...

    Remove threads from current page?

Hmmmm... It got rid of it on the full web page, but not on the mobile version on my iphone... Any thoughts?
  24. How do I remove threads from current participated page? I have 39 there that I have participated on, though several are old/outdated and no longer being used... Would make it easier if I could edit the list so only the threads I want to more actively follow show up...
