Hi Lindsj83, I'm 4 weeks out and down 26 lbs. I'm trying not to crazy with the scale. Someone told me to remember to drink Water, water, water. It flushes out the fat. I've noticed my skin reallllllly dry, and then I realized I'm only drinking about 40 oz. of water, which really isn't good. So, first thing in the morning, I make a cup of hot tea and pour water into a 16 oz. (measuring cup). I drink both while getting my Vitamins down (very slowly) and my thyroid meds. Then about an hour later, I'm ready for Breakfast, which I'm doing a shake. I have always been on the go and have done shakes, so I'm continuing my routine. I noticed, that once I started adding food, my lbs. on the scale stopped or dropped from 2 lbs. to 1/2 Lb!!! Bu, in my head I'm reasoning that the scale is at least going down and not up. It's really difficult, because we all want the quick fix. Feel free to email me if you need someone to talk to. I know I can use someone at times too. ssifonte@hotmail.com

My new plan to reduce snacking habits/ increase weight loss
Mycloice2lose replied to mamamareli's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I'm 4 weeks out from RNY surgery. I found that when I started eating last week I stalled. Then the next day I did 2 shakes and dinner and I started losing again, even if it was only 1 lb. So, I think until I get more weight off, that's pretty much what I am going to do. Today, shake for bf. Around 2 1/2 hrs. later I had an applesauce, lunch shake, Dinner sm. piece of flounder and some squash. Have you girls been doing something better? Any suggestions are welcomed. Sue -

Was losing regularly when just on shakes, now that I've added food I gained??? I had shake for Breakfast, scrambled egg and applesause for lunch then I made a turkey chili for dinner an had 2 oz. Drinking 48 oz Water, tea, Any help or suggestions? -
Nov 11th was my surgery. Did Protein drinks for 2 weeks then started eating slowly. Threw my guts up, the pain was horrible. Like something was ripping through my stomach. Nurse told me after throwing up, nothing for 4 hours then start tea and see if it stays down. If I throw up again to wait another 4 hours until the stomach calms down and the swelling goes down, then back on liquid diet for 48 hrs. So, I did that and have been going slow all week. Today, started good, then for lunch a small piece of chicken (really chewed good) and some applesauce. Well for the past hour or so, the pains, like before, are coming back with a vengence. I haven't thrown up but it's ripping through me. My 2nd appt. is Wed. so I'll see what they say. sigh.......

November 2013 Post Op
Mycloice2lose replied to Janifer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 11/11/13 too. Had some ups and downs but feeling pretty good. I was down 24 lbs. but this morning I had gained 1.5 which freaked me out! I was on the shakes longer than expected. I thought I had to be on them until my 2 week follow-up. The dr. said I should have already been on some foods, so I started and ate something that clogged my opening!!! Talk about PAIN!!! I thought I was going to die!!! I called him at night and he said to ride it out. I threw up my guts then dry heaved for half of the following day. Then for 48 hrs. back on liquids. So, it's only been a week since I started baby foods, yogurt and stuff like that. Then the gain grrrrr..... Today, I just had my shake for breakfast, 1 oz grilled chicken and applesauce for lunch, and dinner broth and having a shake. I'm going to look at some other suggestions on what everyone is eating. -

I haven't had my surgery yet but I do know that the bariatric team is there to help. Get in touch with your group. The other thing, carbs make you hungrier and are empty calories. Get back on track and take control of you! You make the decision of what you put in your mouth. Find out why you are eating, frustration, boredom, depressed.... Remember, it's your health that is going to suffer in the long run. We are all here for you for support too, but you have to decide what you want to do. What I have started doing is BEFORE I eat something I say to myself..."why do I want this cake, candy, whatever?" Then I think.....I'm frustrated, sad, upset, etc." and it's been helping. -
Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
Mycloice2lose replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm in the process of getting all my clearances, cardiology, pulmonary, etc. So ready for this. I'm hoping for 2nd week in November. Current weight 260. I'm a solid girl so many people tell me I don't look this heavy, but I am going to be so happy when I can strip off the layers of clothes that I hide under.
