Has anyone not lost hair?
nynewlywed replied to asmaclare's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 1/2 moths out. Very thin hair, no hair loss yet. I take extra biotin out of fear of it coming out. I've heard that making sure you're getting your protein in and drinking your fluids will also help prevent this. It's a scary possibility. -
Did any of you have food funerals prior to starting your preop diet?

I agree with it just being gone. I've found post op that i can cook and eat my healthy options instead and that the joy is in the cooking, not necessarily the eating. Also with over indulging, i now find that i'm more glad i have this new tool that makes me feel comfortably full after only a little. I do not miss my unhealthy behaviors from beforehand, seems i actually feel more free to enjoy other things without the food binge regret. A long time ago a friend said something that really stuck "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". I'd rather stick to my diet and be a healthy person and enjoy my body and life without being glutenous. -

I was itching like crazy for a couple weeks.. It eventually passed. I would wake up in the night violently scratching. I got all my fluids in. All i could do was take benedryl and put cortizone cream AROUND the incisions. Not on them. Keep them dry.

My big fat bucket list
nynewlywed replied to KristieAtkinson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't wait to have a new years resolution other than "lose weight" for the first time EVER in my life. I also can't wait to be thinner than my mother so she stops giving me the nasty looks and looking me up and down as she sucks in her stomach EVERY TIME SHE SEES ME -

I had a food festivus! My wonderful husband actually asked me what meals i wanted for dinner every night for 2 weeks and we planned out a schedule. Since i'm a vegitarian and my husband hates veggies, there were a lot of dishes i knew i could never have again (even as a bite from his) because he would never want/eat it. 1 week before surgery we went to Mexico for our wedding anniversary and i drank my face off. Funny thing is, it's been over 3 months since then and i really couldn't care less about not having alcohol. It was cathartic for me to indulge and eat at excess for the last time ever. Don't feel guilty. This is a big step and it's forever, so do what you need to do to feel comfortable with your new life style. I'm down 62 lbs from my heaviest and i'm 2 1/2 months post surgery and i don't regret a single fat meal i had before my pre-surgery diet. I never cheated on my pre-surgery diet, i was locked into the mindset. I allowed myself the time to go crazy, now it's time to get healthy and love how i look again. -
Part of my recovery in the hospital was to get up and walk 4 laps around the entire floor every 2 hours. I got the hiccups during every walk. The nurses told me that was good because it was the gas coming out. If it is painful be sure to grab a pillow tightly around your stomach to keep everything from moving. When i had air caught i would walk and everytime i would put both arms up in the air (while walking) the gas would burp up.

Hey everyone! I was sleeved on Oct 8th so i'm currently 15 days post-op and i'm down 30 lbs from when i started my liquid diet 2 weeks prior. My question is, does anyone else get nausea when they have their first meal/protein supplement every morning? For the last 4-5 days i've gotten super nauseous. It passes but ut happens regardless of how slowly i drink or eat..

Awesome, thank you! I'll have to look into that.

My surgery is on tuesday and i'm in day 9 of 14 and i'm down 15.5 lbs. i'm shockingly rately hungry from all the protein packed in my shakes. I will only be on liquid diet for 1 meal after surgery and then i go immediately into pureed diet for 4-6 weeks
