Protien Shake For The Lactose Intolerant
Mlh replied to suchsh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink rockin' refuel by Shamrock Farms. It's lactose free. However, it's not whey protein. I couldn't stomach that stuff no matter how hard I tried. -
What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
Mlh replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for advice a t the celery. My doc sent the question to his nutritionist who just said " too much fat so don't eat" which didn't answer my question. I don't worry to much about fat and calories right now. I'm barely eating anything as it is! -
What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
Mlh replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 10/23 and still have trouble with lots of foods-- too hard, I guess-and some liquids. I hope to be able to eat bites of turkey. Question--I was told not to eat celery now. Can I purée a bite of stuffing and still probably be okay even with some celery in it? -
Everything I Eat Or Drink Hurts
Mlh replied to bosoxgirl1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 4 weeks, I started having this roaming stomache that's just shy of nausea. Been going on for a week. Worst is when I drink water, but I can eat fine and drink protein. Glad to hear that others have similar strange phenomena (not glad you hurt, but it helps me feel a little more normal). Only thing that's really helped is very small doses of nausea med. lets all hang in there--it's only temporary. -
Good luck starting your new life.

I was on 2 insulins, Invocana, and metformin. I left hospital on half my met and 40% of my lantus insulin. The doc said if numbers trend above 180, add 5 lantus. If they trend below 140, subtract 5 lantus. I'm now 5 wks out and am on 10 lantus. Stuck there for a couple of weeks now. I could go lower, numbers usually in the 120s, but I don't want them to go higher and this isn't causing any lows, so I'm leaving it. Our bodies make and (supposedly) use sugars and insulins all the time, so I guess that's what we see when numbers go up and down. Stress is definitely a blood sugar raiser, for example. Remember,, these instructions were for me as an individual. You might talk more specifically with your docs based on these ideas, if you want.

Thanks for the calcium tip, Txcalico. I'll try it. I hit the 3rd week wt loss slump, too,, but I remember that losing weight has always been uneven and fickle, so what's new?

I sleeved on Oct 22. A couple of mild bouts of nausea and diarrhea so far that seem to be reactions to a pill or to milk. Can't quite tell yet which. Lost 28 lbs since surgery and more before, but the REAL thing for me is that I'm down to 2 blood auger meds from 4-- 1/2 of my metformin currently and down to 10 units of lantus (100 pre-surgery). I'm so happy about that I cry. Also have dropped one of my 3 blood pressure meds, too. Having trouble getting the calcium in. Already take lots of pills, and those things are HUGE. Working on this. Different topic-I'd like to join the Facebook page, but PMing megabucks889 seems to be beyond my skill set. Can anyone help?

Me,too with the low energy. I get shaky after 10 mins or so.

Any replies abt getting off meds? I sleeved Oct 22 and left hospital on 30% of my lantus. Added 2 metformin back so far. Not taking Novalog or Invokana now. Not wildly happy--wanted to leave hospital on no meds, but at least it's less. I'm hoping not to add a third metformin pill back. How about you?
