  4. I was banded on July 10th. I am voluntarily on a liquid diet. At four weeks I started to add some protein snacks with my shakes and tried to chew real well. At first this was working and going down fine...However I have on a few occasions ate too quickly and too much and it seems like the food got stuck and then went down (salami, beef). When it went down there was quite a bit of pain. Is this normal? Could I have damaged my band/stomach? My doctor has never done any type of xray etc. to see if band was placed properly? Should I request this before my first fill? Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

So far so good! Banded Tues. July 10th. I have lost 14lbs. in 1 1/2 weeks...counting my pre op diet (4 days prior to surgery). I am so excited that I finally made this decision. It was really only painful on the first day after surgery, a little nausea (after taking the nausea med. and suppository it went away) and lots of soreness. Everyday has been much better and I stopped using the pain medication as of Sat. 5 days post op. I really think walking has helped heal and relieve the gas. I walk 20 min. 4x per day. I am following a 3 mo. liquid diet. It is a new program (voluntary) that my doctor is trying. It puts you in Ketosis (like Atkins) so you have an accelerated weight loss. I get 4 protein shakes per day and some sugar free jello/pops etc. I have good energy and have just started wanting food and realizing it will be a while before I try it. Good luck to all July banders. Started 242 Lbs weight now 228 Lbs. Goal 150 Lbs.
  6. Hi I was banded July 10th.Everything seems to be going good. Has anyone ever heard on New Directions. My doctor mentioned it to me and said it will accelerate my weight loss and still give proper protein/nutrition etc. It is a diet consisting of all shakes followed weekly by a doctor. I decided to try it. It has been kind of difficult but is getting easier now that I have been banded. It is a High Protein low carb shake. I have read that returning to solids as soon as possible is important. Does anyone know why? My doctor is not to concerned about this and says I can start my regular phases puree/soft solid/solid when my 3 mos. is over. Just curious is anyone else has tried anything similar with the band?:nervous
  7. I am so glad I found this website. I will be banded on July 10th. I am 240lbs with 90ish pounds to lose. I am looking forward to finally suceeding for good at this weight loss thing. Pre op Diet......Has any of you had a doctor who was not real concerned about it (other than the clear liquids for one day prior to surgery)

    Pre-op Diet

I am new to this board and thought this would be a good place to start. My doctor has not mentioned anything about a pre op diet yet.... I will see the physician assisstant for pre op on Tuesday so maybe it will be mentioned then. I have asked him before and he said that it is not imperative????? Anyone else not have to do pre op diet? I do have to do the standard clear liquid diet the day before surgery though.
