  1. Thank you. I've been lying here praying for a time machine. Helps to know that others had nausea this long! I'll try drinking more, I know I haven't been getting enough.
  2. I had gastric bypass on November 6. Since then my hormones have been crazy, I've had a rough recovery due to a rough surgery and I've felt like a crazy person. I get nauseous easily, everything I'm allowed to eat tastes terrible or I just end up psyching myself out that it will taste terrible, then I don't want it. When I do find something that works, I get excited, then discouraged because it may only work for one or two meals. I'm getting better day by day and continue to work on it. Last night, my boyfriend (for lack of a better word) made one of those Totino's Party Pizzas (Combination style of course which was my favorite) and I'm sitting at the table, trying to decide what my new pouch will tolerate and I lose it. I start bawling like a baby. So I lock myself I the bathroom (don't want him to see me crying and feel bad about eating) and I call my mom. As I'm feeling sorry for myself and asking her for a time machine, I hear him start to curse. I ask him what's wrong and he says he burnt his finger and dropped the pizza. I start laughing. This crazy maniacal laugh and I have no idea why I'm finding this so funny, but I seriously can't stop! I keep picturing it I'm my head and cracking up! I think I was happy (not about the burning, but about the loss of pizza) lol. Turned out he only dropped one piece. He felt bad when he figured out I had been upset. I told him I needed to get used to it and that it's hard. I don't want anyone handling me with kid gloves. I swear it is aggravating knowing the hold that food had/has over me. I can still picture the taste in my mind. I did much better today but it comes and goes in waves. Just had to share my momentary, pity party meltdown because now, of course it's funny. ????

    Party Pizza Meltdown

Thanks! I have some recipes pinned on Pinterest like that. One using slices of zucchini as the "noodles". Cannot wait to get to that stage! C'mon Monday!!!! Lol.
  4. Surgery was 11/6. Can't wait until I can have real food! Not blended and strained! Lol.
  5. Same here. One minute I like something, the next minute I don't. It's aggravating!
  6. Is anyone else having to force themselves to eat? Any food I'm allowed to have sounds terrible and Id honestly rather eat nothing which is not possible. Just wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing.

    Party Pizza Meltdown

Geesh! I have no idea! Between him eating pizza and cinnamon toast crunch and my other family members FaceTiming to see how I am, then chowing down on their chicken nuggets from Wendy's, I'm not sure how I haven't lost my dang mind! I'm counting down the days when I can go back to eating "real foods." I've found some good recipes on Pinterest that look AMAZING and now I'm excited for that but stuck in this stupid full liquids phase...???? I do need to add that everyone has been supportive and I don't expect them to change their lives, I'm just venting is all even though people can duck out of view while stuffing their faces while FaceTiming! My mom had even said that she wasn't going to make certain desserts/candy for Christmas this year. I told her that's not fair to everyone else and that I need to have will power. She also knows I will have natural consequences if I did happen to give in. Considering there's only one bathroom, that's not an option!
  8. That looks amazing!!!! Ugh....still in the full liquid stage but now I have something to look forward to!!!

    Need something new

My pouch seems to like less flavorful foods right now. My favorite has been Campbell's Cream of Potato soup with 1.5 cans skim milk and a healthy scoop of cottage cheese. Blend it, strain it (not much left to strain after I used the liquify setting lol) and then I put it in a travel coffee mug. For some reason I have an easier time getting it down that way than using a spoon. I think I slurp in too much air and it upsets my tummy.
  10. Hmmm. Wonder why? That is strange. At least I know it's happened to others regardless of the time. Just gotta tough it out I guess! Thanks!!

    Any Fun Hospital Stories?

OMG, I miss those sponge lollipops. I would walk the halls with them because I would get such a bad case of dry mouth! Wish I had them at home for when I'm nauseous at home and don't want to drink anymore! I had a family member of another patient come up to me and tell me he kept seeing me pass by her room over and over. I imagine it looked like a horror movie. Nurse said I did 30 laps around the unit my last night there.

    Not eating enough

I'm only four days post op and I started crying when I realized how much I needed to eat. I get overwhelmed and full just taking my pills and drinking water. I'm slowly getting better, made some super runny instant chocolate pudding with vanilla protein powder. Tastes a bit like a frosty from Wendy's. I'm struggling with 3-4 sips of broth and 2-3 tiny bites of jello. I'm trying to increase every day though and have been walking like crazy. Im trying to make some protein pudding pops in my freezer right now because I do the best with sugar free Popsicles so I'm hoping the cold will also help with that.
  13. So I happened to be one of those 1% people. Surgery took an hour to an hour and a half longer than expected. Dr. said my abdominal anatomy was not "typical" and one of my abdominal walls were really thick. I ended up being in recovery for 2.5 to three hours extra than usual as well. Other than the excruciating pain, all my other stats are perfect and my pain level is finally heading down! I was definitely envious of all you guys who seemed to have a fairly easy recovery. I wasn't going to share my experience on here, but I highly doubt someone else has screwed up belly anatomy and it's what this site is for! I'm doing better now. Struggling with knowing I'm full of water before I get that nauseating feeling. That comes with time I guess. Finally leaving the hospital tomorrow!
  14. Just panicked a bit. Bawled like a baby in the parking lot of Wal-Mart (needed some non-slip slippers, I hate wearing socks) for about 5 minutes then I was fine. I don't even know what part of this whole process I'm scared of anymore. I think doing my living will/medical power of attorney papers really freaked me out. I know the risks are low compared to my risks of long term obesity. I don't even really know what started it. So glad my surgeon said I could take a Xanax in the morning! My surgery is at 11:55 am...ahhhh! First day of my healthier new life!
  15. Congrats!!! So happy for you!!! I'm hoping my liver shrank enough. ???? when are they letting you go home?
  16. Congrats on your successful surgery! I'm starting to get terrified again! Mine's Thursday. ????

    OVER 300 lbs

Shark week made me laugh out loud. I say that too!
  18. Yay!! You will do great!!
  19. Anyone freaking out yet? The first round of November surgeries is about to start (unless someone's hospital does weekend surgeries)!!! Can't believe I only have three more days of work, then I'm having surgery!
  20. Unjury has a protein powder that is chicken soup flavored. You could add it to chicken broth.
  21. Do you have a certain number of dietitian appts or anything like that? I saw that your insurance only required preauth from PCP. I know at Riverside they have everyone do at least three months nutrition/dietitian appts. If you aren't required to have those, you should move along pretty quickly!
  22. You're a lot nicer than I am! My surgery is 11/6 and I refuse to cook for anyone even at this point (liver shrinking diet). Not having kids probably makes that stance A LOT easier haha. My mom has a "Buttered maple syrup" candle and all I wanted was waffles or pancakes or French toast while I was at her house. The worst part is the scent invaded my hair and clothes and I had to smell it all the way home! Haha. I'm hoping I crave less after surgery!

    Please Add Dr. Roelant

Also if you could add Dr. Nirav Rana. He is with the Weight Management program at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio! Good idea! I requested from my page but had no idea to put it here!
