Oh my god! You look absolutely fantastic! And with so much weight lost, your skin looks amazing! What is your secret?!

Just a quick question. I do not eat a whole lot, I am averaging about 900- 1000 calories a day, and measure out my portions usually. When I am finished eating my meal, or even drinking my protein drink, I am usually pretty full. Not totally stuffed but I can feel that I cannot put another bite in. Should I be stopping before I get to that point? It's hard to tell, and I am usually eating about 1/2 cup. By the way, I am 3.5 months out. Thanks for any thoughts.

So bored by food
susis replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well......try this: I take canned chicken, and make it like tuna salad............except instead of mayo, I use plain greek yogurt. Double the punch for the protein! Then add onions, if you can tolerate them, garlic and tons of spices like basil, oregeno, whatever you like. That is very good, and easy to pack in a little tiny tupperware dish! Let me know how you make out! -
Awww, happy birthday to you proud grammy!

Congratulations! And also, you might not realize it, but you are very fortunate and smart to have done this at such a young age! You have your whole life ahead of you, and with two small children, you will be able to do things with them, things that I as an overweight parent, was not able to do. And that means a lot! Congrats!

Congrats on it going so well for you! Keep up the good work!

2weeks sleeved and still no energy. Is this normal?
susis replied to nana2mo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me that it takes 2 weeks for all of the anesthia to completely leave your system. I felt that way also after my surgery. -
I am 3.5 months out, and I enjoyed my wine every day! Like you, at least 2 glasses, usually more. I have not had a drop of alcohol since Sept. 25, 2013, the day of my surgery. Do I miss it? Yes, like hell. But I am not going to jepordize my future. I have worked too hard at this to fail because of alcohol. And yes, I am now the DD in most occasions. You honestly get used to it. Just like with not eating cake, you don't drink alcohol. It's just not worth it. And plus, the bonus is, I wake up feeling great!

Thank you guys all so much for your input! I honestly don't seem to have any signals, but I think I do know, I just choose to ignore it! At this point, still, all I am eating is Protein, so that is probably why I fill up so fast. I just hope I am not stretching my sleeve out.

I really don't want to sound uneducated or whiny on here, but I have an issue I want to discuss. I had my surgery on Sept. 25. Doing really good, with a total of 54 pounds lost by Christmas. I follow my Dr.'s plan, although usually do miss the H2o goal daily, mostly due to work constraints. I have a scale that measures body fat, bone density, etc.I have had a fair amount of stalls here and there, but this week, I have actually gained 4 pounsa., 2 one day, and then 2 the next. It's...
-
to gain 1 pound, you have to eat 3500 calories.....so did you overeat by 12000+ calories? ......if not, then it could be sodium, TOM or you just need to go potty.....stay the course.....to lose weight, you must not eat more cals than you can burn off.....whatever WLS you have......hang in there and keep doing what your dr told you......DEF drink A LOT

That's funny you should ask that question at this time! I started out at 275. I have lost 54 pounds, and at 221 I am looking pretty good. ( I think! LOL). Although I still have a lot to lose. I just went to my three month check up yesterday and asked my surgeon about how much I should weigh, because, I , like you, was looking at the BMI chart, in which I should weigh 135. That, for me, is still about 95 pounds away. Compared to what I look like now, a 95 pound loss would make me look almost dead. And my dr. agreed. He said that if I were to weigh 135, I would look like a runway model. (And I don't think he meant that as a compliment! LOL) He said it was better to go with body fat percent. GamerGirl gave me some good comparison pics last week, and she also figured out how many more pounds I should lose to get there, and she was right on target with what my surgeon wanted!! So, in answer to your question, you look great, and really, listen to your dr. Your health will thank you for it!

I have a math question for all you math wizards out there (this is for you GamerGirl!! LOL). When I had this surgery 3 months ago, no one gave me a "Goal Weight". My dr. only told me that statistically I would lose about 60 percent of my extra body weight. I pulled a number out of my @## as a goal weight to be 150, not basing that on any science or math. This weekend, I did some calculating on my own, and came up with a healthy goal weight, which is considerably higher than I thought it should be. Can anybody help me and see if I am correct in my calculations? I am basing these calculations on equations that I found on the internet. Ok, here goes. Starting weight: 275 Current weight: 225 Height 5'5" Current Body Fat: 39 % (I have a scale that measures these out. I know they might not totally accurate.) Current pounds of fat: 89 According to the calculations that I found, (I am at work right now, so I don't have them) to have a healthy body fat percentage, I should weigh between 177 and 207. Does any one have any idea how many "pounds of fat" a healthy 46 year old female should have on her body. Not only percentage, but actual pounds? thanks for any help.

Oh yes, it certainly does! Thank you so much! You don't know how much I appreciate that! I really wish I could do that!.
-
Although, looking at those pics you posted, my body (which is 39% fat, supposedly) looks more like the 45%.
-
Hey, thank you TBodmer71. I am def saving that! Ok, GamerGirl, I am gonna be honest.......I like the look of the 30% body fat! Are you telling me I won't look like that?! LOL! Those pics really helped put it in perspective! Thanks again!

What are you having for Christmas Dinner?
susis replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just learned to make "mashed cauliflower" on Pintrist! Everyone loves them! I make them in place of/just like mashed potatoes. They really are great, and look like mashed potatoes! -
I ate a piece of pizza last night..... And I liked it!
susis replied to xmarycontraryx's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yep, that's how I think. I am 3 months out, having been sleeved on Sept. 25. I have yet to go against medical advice, or have any sweets, or carbs. It really and truly is just Protein for me. Am I seriously craving a glass of wine? You betcha....I look at my wine rack every night when I come home from work. But for me, like FluffnoMore, I know that once I break that abstinence, it will be much easier to justify to myself to do it again. I am not trying to sound like I am better than anyone, by any means, that is just how it works for me. All or nothing, that's how I roll!! -
What is a compression suit? I am a nurse, and I have been on this site for months, and I have not heard anyone speak of them! I mean, I can pretty much tell what it is, but I really didn't know they had them for us!
-
Hi! I was sleeved Sept 25, 2013 and I am down 47 pounds! Starting weight: 275 Current weight: 247 Goal weight: 150

Extremely Discouraged.....
susis replied to mamoojack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks a lot for that formula, GamerGirl! I tried it and it really does put it into perspective! At 44 pounds lost, I find that I have lost 35% of my excess weight. That is a lot! And all in two months! Thanks again! -
Pros and cons six and a half weeks after surgery
susis replied to loobylou238's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I find that I also do that with drinking: I will take a "large" (not really, but normal) sip, and then slowly swallow it. It helps me with getting less air in my tummy. All that "sipping" added a lot of air!
