Doing PROTEIN SHAKES FOR A MONTH!
woo woo replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think your progress is fine. After the first 6 weeks, I remember losing a couple pounds (0 to 3) per week. Usually I would not lose anything about one week a month. The weight loss is steady but does not stay super fast like it is in the weeks right after surgery. Also, who cares what they think? You are paying for their services. Which they aren't even responding to your calls. If anything, they should worry about what you think! The weight will come off as long as you keep doing what you are supposed to do. Please don't start crash dieting! Not necessary [emoji4] -

I have had a few autoimmune issues since surgery. Not the symptoms you mention exactly, but they are bothersome enough that I posted here about it a while back. I now have a photo allergy (allergy to sun) as well as some other skin issues and a couple other possible things including face rash. I'm interested to see if there is anyone else. I have been suspicious of a link to sleeve, but it could also be that I'm into my 40s now. I am 3 years out from sleeve, first symptom happened at 6 months out. I haven't gotten sick in a long time, even with working at a school.

Carbonation after WLS?
woo woo replied to ebroms17's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes it is the pressure, for sure. I drink sparkling waters and prosecco if I'm having alcohol (with Dr blessing) and it makes a real difference to me which brands I drink. The more bubbly it is, the less good/comfortable for sure. If you like sparkling mineral waters, I find that Pellegrino is delicious and has little (smallish) bubbles [emoji4] Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Paralyzed leg with weight gain and Dr freaked me out
woo woo replied to Happyinside45's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was on gabapentin a couple of years ago and I would find myself eating large amounts of chocolate, like 10 to 20 Hershey kisses several times per day. As soon as I quit the drug this eating stopped. I also cried a lot on gabapentin (not usual for me at all). I think there are a lot of possible side effects with it. I'm 100% sure weight gain is one! DANG.IT. likely looking at a RNY revision
woo woo replied to mi75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Sorry that you are having to deal with another surgery, but glad you have settled on a plan. Please keep us updated on your process! I had Gerd myself pre-sleeve. Currently three years out (this week!) And I take an acid reducer 2 x daily to control it. So far it works, but who knows in the future. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Risks of being former smoker
woo woo replied to healthybarb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was never told anything like this. What I was told was that pre-surgery Gerd that can't be controlled with a ppi means that sleeve is not a good option due to risk of continued/increased Gerd after sleeve. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Can I change surgeons after approval?
woo woo replied to alexandraaa14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you can. Get the approval paperwork from the original doc and give to the new one. They will just have to resubmit but it should go through fine. I don't know if this will save you time, but it can certainly be done as I had to do it because of a move. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Obsessed with weight loss
woo woo replied to crawford8903's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal and, imo, healthy. Getting obsessed and staying obsessed is how you are going to lose the weight and keep it off. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Has anyone NOT lost their hair?
woo woo replied to RHmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hair loss happens around month 7 or 8 and lasts a few months. My hair is very thick also but I could tell by how much I was shedding. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -

3 weeks out and horrible diarrhea
woo woo replied to SassySwede's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Suggest another beverage if plain water is giving you nausea. Hot and cold tea and the water flavor drops worked for me. I had the opposite problem after surgery, but I have heard that either lactose intolerance (can develop) or dehydration can cause diarrhea. Sent from my SM-N910T using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm 30 months out and rice still gives me a stomachache. I never liked it all that much anyway though so I'm okay with it!

Anyone have their surgery at Baylor Plano?
woo woo replied to New Me 31317's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had a really good experience. I stayed one night and left about 1pm the next day. I liked the nurses and the facility. I had to remind once that my pain meds were due but she got them for me right away. This was Sept of 2014. -
Anyone have their surgery at Baylor Plano?
woo woo replied to New Me 31317's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I did. Sorry, just noticed this is in bypass area. I had gastric sleeve there, not bypass. -
Don't let them rush you into surgery! If insurance approved you now, there's no reason they won't do so again a month from now.

Numbness in legs and stomach, tingling in feet
woo woo replied to Kaitlin Ashley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I remember seeing that too. I had severe pain and numbness from my hips around to outer thighs plus one leg was very weak and I kept falling while using steps. This was almost 2 years ago, but it was about 9 months after my surgery. I was in agony and could barely walk. Anyway I thought it was that maralgia thing but it ended up being 2 herniated disks in lower spine. I had to have an mri to diagnose it. Eventually it went away but it took like 2 months. Numbness in legs and stomach, tingling in feet
woo woo replied to Kaitlin Ashley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@leslaine I'm not a doc but I believe that meralgia paraesthetica is a very serious condition that often involves incontinence. If you are just having numbness/pain in your outer thigh it might be just nerve pain or even a herniated disk in your lumbar spine. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
The love that you are worried about losing is the one you had, not the one you have. This thing that you have now is not love. You are not pathetic. You are stuck in the cycle of abuse. It is horrible but the good news is that you can get out. I wasted 8 years that way. 5 months after finally throwing him out of my life I met my dream man. This was 12 years ago and we are very happily married. Please stay safe and make a plan to get out. The sooner the better. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
