    This is it!

I began Metformin several months ago and after surgery they took me off. My husband is a 30-year diabetic with terrible problems. We have HOPE that things will be better! I have dieted all my life but finally lost that battle. Add in asthma, knee replacement, the diabetes, high blood pressure, well you get the picture. I have a wonderful New Year's resolution! I resolve t start living. Simply put. I was sitting in a chair all year, this first year of my retirement, seeing no quality of life ahead. I was afraid to travel because of my husband's diabetic episodes of low blood sugar, or high blood sugar. Here's (CHEERS!) TO US! BEST WISHES!

    Weight gain on soft foods?

RELAX! I felt the amount of food I was eating should have caused me to weigh 50 lbs lol. Your metabolism is changing. Don't focus on the scale, focus on living. Just follow your doctor's advice. Stay busy! Happy New Year!

    Sleeve this morning!

Yes!!! The pain will be 10 times less than you expect!!! Relax. The unknown is what is scary. I am 67 and used 1 dose of pain medicine at home. I was in the grocery store 4 days after surgery, and I was shopping 2 hours, 2 weeks after surgery. I have not slowed down since. I have so much energy and finally out of the chair I had slumped in for the past year. Loving life again!!!!! Best wishes!!!! First day of the best of your life lol!

    Nervous

Your health problems worsen as you get older, like me and my husband. Life has been downhill but I am happy to say we have been sleeved and no more sitting around being depressed. Best of luck!!!!!

    I Am New Here...

15 years ago my niece had gastric bypass. My husband and I felt it was too invasive for our serious health problems. We opted for the sleeve and so happy!!!!! You will find lots of needed support here! Best wishes!!

    Slim Fast Pre Op Diet

Did your doctor recommend (do not think so). I do not think you will enjoy this, you will want more. Your doctor gives you a good diet to follow. Usually a shake and two sensible meals. We did a shake a day, and 1 meal, which was what we were used to. You need 1 meal a day to look forward to. A small grilled chicken breast is yummy! Treat yourself in small ways! Best wishes!

    alcoholic beverages

I gave up alcohol in June and I do not miss it one bit! I plan to drink Water and enjoy it! There are SF Torani syrups you can plan to experiment with, and Skinny Free SF mixers. Wine can be diluted with a little water and ice cubes. So many choices!!!! Happy New Year!

    Pre Surgery Jitters/ Excitement

Relax. Use this time wisely to get your house in order, gathering your Vitamins, and making sure you are stocked with low sodium Soups and other things you will need. If you keep busy this time will pass quickly and smoothly. It was a piece of cake for me because I was so thankful I qualified for the sleeve along with my husband. I am happier than ever for many years. We were sleeved 11/18 and 12/2 and life is soooooo good. I think we all have anxiety problems LOL but again, busying yourself will help you immensely!!! Like cleaning the garage! Yes this site is awesome and you will need it, trust me. And your experiences will help others!!! Happy New Year!

    This is it!

I think you made a wise choice. My husband and I began seminars 10 years ago. We passed on all the surgeries until the sleeve came along because we felt it was the safest way to go for us. My husband has many health problems and surgery is very scary. We have both been sleeved now and our future is finally brighter for us. We highly recommend the sleeve over anything else and following years of researching. Happy New Year and best wishes to your new future!!!!

    Gout?

I am post op surgery 11/18. I am in agony since yesterday with my big toe joint and the ball of my food underneath the joint. Has to be gout. Never had it but I know people who have. I cannot walk. Will call doctor tomorrow but I see on the web there are a few links concerning bariatric surgery and gout. Anyone experience this?

My husband and I were both sleeved, me 11/18, him 12/2. I post for him, not is thing LOL. But I am thankful to this site because everyone who has experienced anything has posted, and it is most helpful. Best wishes!
  17. We are all learning here from each other, and it is good support. I choked on a piece of soft chicken 1 month post op (ate too fast, did not chew well) and I thought it was a HEART ATTACK. I am serious. Please do not make my mistake!!!!!!

    Asking for Positive Thoughts Please

You will find there are others just like YOU! Go to group and you will see. We would not be human if we didn't still have the same challenges we had before surgery and after. We will forever have to watch ourselves during the holidays, but thankful we have a new sleeve to assist us. Yaaaaay!!!!! You have reached out here so that is the first step. Tomorrow is a new day. Relax, we have all been where you are, LOL!!!!! Happy New Year and good luck!
  19. Good that you called. Just take it easy, the less you move the less pain you might have. But again, take care of that body and when in doubt, call the doctor!!

    Any Florida Sleevers?

Call your doctor to be safe!!! Don't risk our opinions for your health. Seems you should not be having this feeling so soon since surgery. The bloating would be normal, being we all had gas problems probably. We pay these doctors a lot of money. Better safe than sorry. Good luck!!!!!

    Vitamins?

Caution, do not buy a lot when you are deciding. You may not like something. I was able to give my husband the BA multivitamins as the chalky taste doesn't bother him. I think they are too pricey also.

    Gout?

Thank you! I know there is a med and hoping I get through the night with this pain lol. I quit drinking months ago before surgery. I will find some cherry juice! Happy New Year!

    Is my FEAR founded?

I was sleeved 11/18 and felt the same way. I went from 205 to 180 , creeping. Scale has not moved in ? 2 weeks. But I went down 2 sizes in my pants, and feel fantastic!!!! So I am doing my thing, and not focusing on the scale. Best wishes and Happy New Year!!!
