4 week stall...UGH
LindafromFlorida replied to onedaycloser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I steer clear of sodium, and ham, but over Christmas, 5 weeks out, I nibbled a bit. I weigh about 3-4 days and my scale is barely moving. I think we all hit those thoughts of what am I doing wrong. Now I am laid up 5 days with gout in my big toe, cannot walk, and am praying to get on the move again. Happy New Year! Thankful for my blessings and my sleeve! -
I bought the Protein powders from my doctor at first for the convenience. I discovered EAS Protein powder at Walmart which our nutritionist approved. We were told make sure the word "blend" is not in the powder description on the label. Also, nutritionally speaking about protein (with very low carbs and sugars) Quest Protein Bars have been my choice. 1 bar will feed me and my husband if we are away from home several hours, and were to need something. There are a lot of so called protein bars that have more sugar and carbs than protein, so read those labels!!!!! You can get unjury protein powders online, unflavored. The problem I have with Unjury is I like HOT Soups and food and you can only heat it to lukewarm as far as I am concerned. Or it gets lumpy. I bought the chicken Soup packets and it sits here. I do not want lukewarm soup. I will experiment with it soon I guess as I don't want to waste it. Vegetarian refried Beans and any kind of beans is good protein and goes a long way. They will be on your diet following surgery. Best of luck!

Wanna Rant About Spouses & How Clueless They Can be sometimes?
LindafromFlorida replied to HotButterFly's topic in Rants & Raves
LOL. I ranted about mine from the time she was 10 to 20. She has been my dearest friend and support ever since. There is hope! She is now 47 years old and we have an amazing bond nothing can touch. You probably raised her to know right from wrong so now give her a little rope and be supportive. Happy New Year! -
Protein Shake Pre Op Diet
LindafromFlorida replied to Photo925's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where are you? We are certainly blessed here to have everything at our fingertips almost. I am wondering if your doctor or hospital has given you guidelines to go by, as far as eating. If not I hope the rest of us can help you the best we can. I hope you have access to bouillion or chicken broth, especially after surgery, or make your own broth, just chill after cooking and take the fat off. Honestly I cannot having the surgery without all the reading material on eating that we have had here. Which surgery will you be having? I hope you can find someone through your doctor or hospital who has had this surgery because you need good support. It will be about 3-4 weeks after surgery before you can eat pureed or minced foods, so Soups will be on your diet. Refried Beans are wonderful, to eat alone in small amounts or to make soups with, using fat free chicken broth and seasonings. Best of luck! -
This is it!

Thank you! Our goal is to be on the boat this year. It has sat in dry storage one year now. I am so excited about that! I am off Metformin now, and my husbands blood sugar is running 110 instead of 300-400 every day. Blood pressures are great too! I am happy for you that you are having this surgery. I lived in total fear of losing my husband every day with his out of control diabetes. God Bless you! Do you have a surgery date? Keep the faith, this is awesome not being hungry. I read a lot of posts on here to try and stay informed. It helps. What are your resolutions? Happy New Year to you! Linda -
Protein Shake Pre Op Diet
LindafromFlorida replied to Photo925's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can order online, the Premier Protein shakes, SF Torani syrups (all flavors, and in the grocery stores), and even EAS Protein powder can be ordered from Walmart online. But since you are having surgery January 7, how about yogurt for breakfast? Beef or chicken bouillion is great for the hunger pains, even for breakfast. Have you prepared for after surgery, and gotten your shakes, FF soups and items ready for the after surgery diet? -
Slim Fast Pre Op Diet
LindafromFlorida replied to dublinwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I were told no citrus/fruit. but due to his diabetes and low blood sugar on the diet, he was allowed the fruit to maintain his blood sugar during the nights. Check with your doctor. -
Please Help me. Food addiction. Binge eater. I probably should not have had surgery
LindafromFlorida replied to toocheeky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will say we all have a problem otherwise we would not be here. I feel your pain and I hope you continue your journey to conquer this. My husband and I are on this journey because of morbid health problems. Being retired this year, we don't have to face challenges outside the home. I am saying a prayer for you toocheeky because I don't have the right words..... but I wish you happiness and success. I just wanted you to know I am thinking about you tonight with a heavy heart. -

Telling my family?
LindafromFlorida replied to ImReadyforThis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I look at things this way. I have spent most of my life taking care of others, children, husband(s), Moms & Dads, co-workers, bosses....... We all can relate. I am finally at a point in my life I am living for myself and my wonderful husband. I refuse any more negativity in my life since I lost my sister to ALS 4 years ago. Life is too precious to waste a second of it letting anyone get me down. The rest of my life is mine. -
Missing food right about now.

Poor girl, it must be so hard with the kids. My husband is 3 weeks post op, I am 5 weeks, and our daughter showed up from out of town with a chocolate pie. I bought turkey and ham, all bagged in the freezer now. I had to cook for 5 (our 2 kids, spouses and 1 12-year old) and when they left I put it in the garbage and got it out of the house. No choice. Realized we cannot have it in the house. I hope you can manage some healthy meals for your family so you won't be tempted. I have already made turkey chili and loved it. That crockpot will come in handy also for you, with chicken, lowfat soups, etc. Happy New Year! -

Have not heard of Oh Yeah Bars but will check them out. I have read and compared so many labels I feel like a label. I even went in GNC and compared their labels. We are both diabetic so I want the least carbs and sugars. -
Entire new life?
LindafromFlorida replied to Sofficial's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had more energy since sleeving Nov. 18 than I have had in 6 months. I seriously have shopped several hours. I am so happy, and losing 40 lbs. -- can you envision me carrying 8 5-lb. bags of sugar and trying to shop? I am awesome and amazed!!!!!! Best wishes! -

The refried Beans are yummy, and add a dollop of Laughing Cow White Cheddar cheese and melt! Love it. -
Telling my family?
LindafromFlorida replied to ImReadyforThis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband decided he didn't want an audience to his surgery and that also meant my sleeving. It was very easy to pull this off and I agree with your posts above, no one else's business. It works great for us!!!! -
Your favorite PROTEIN BARS?
LindafromFlorida replied to JanetBP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a small insulated bag and pack SF pudding, SF Jello, cottage cheese, small plastic containers of mandarin oranges found in the fruit section, there are just so many ideas for us. I do not eat Peanut Butter, but they have the PB to go small packages. My husband and I were both sleeved and if we go off for the day these are just handy. Now I can have lowfat cheese sticks. The jello and pudding are off the shelf and not even refrigerated. -

Quest bars - I ordered from Amazon and got the sampler so I can try them all. So far I had one, and it lasted 2 days. Most people recommended them. A lot of others are more sugar and carbs, especially at the grocery store. Very deceiving. Happy New Year! -

Nesa, that would be an awful/wonderful meal to be around. I am craving Mexican food since surgery Nov. 18, and tasted a piece of canned tamale. Heavenly and soft. I celebrated New Year's Eve with 1 piece tonight, and ice Water. Happy New Year and good luck!!! -

Relax, relax, and relax. Trust me, you all will be fine. The unknown is what worries us. I was sleeved 11/18, my husband 12/2. Read your doctor's instructions over and over. I did, every day LOL! And read posts here. It has been a breeze compared to what I expected! You will eat, I promise you! You will feel wonderful and renewed! Happy New Year!
