    Surgery Date set 2-3-14

I honestly had no pain after surgery, after 1 night in hospital. I took nothing for pain once home, just took it easy. The unknown is what scares us. I had soreness in my navel. 1-2 days of rest and you will hardly know you had surgery. Serious!!! I am 67, surgery was 11/18, and I have walked more since surgery than I did the year before surgery. I am shopping and having so much fun! You will be back in the deer stand before you know it, and you won't have to come down to eat, LOL!!!!!
  2. Love this Ree, sounds like me! LOL. That great diet you are on will run smoothly in the hotel. Don't forget a small insulated bag for excursions. I love the little "go" packets of Peanut Butter, SF shelf Jello, pudding and applesauce. String cheese. Protein bars, shakes with or without ice. Refried Beans. Little packs of Laughing Cow cheese. 1 serving Crystal Light packets for a bottled Water. Room should have a fridge and microwave for cottage cheese, Soup, etc. Take disposable spoons and small paper plates. I make and love crustless Quiche, and love it warm or cold. I make it in a glass pieplate and it is several days of meals or snack. Used to take it to work for lunch. It is an easy go idea, but refrigerate. Sounds like an adventure to me!!!! Have a wonderful time!

    15 Days Until Surgery!

Seems like 11/18 was ages ago when I was sleeved, and how I remember that anxiety! The physical pain was almost nil, just a little soreness. The unknown is what is hard I think. There are so many wonderful supportive people here who are ready to jump in and answer questions. Ask and you shall receive! Just get your Vitamins, Proteins and necessities ready and this will be fabulous, I promise. Best wishes!

What can i take for this cough

Homemade Remedy: I usually get bad bronchitis with my asthma, so I saved this from a search on Barefeet in the Kitchen. You mix ginger, cayenne, cider vinegar and honey. I plan on trying this if I need it, she swears it works, and it won't kill us! I hope that you feel better.

    The Boomer Chat Room

Cheryl, tomorrow is day 9. I called surgeon's office first on New Year's Eve, and the following weekday. They were not interested in this lol (not their "field"), but from what I read it could be associated following sleeving. I went to emergency care and was given steroids, antibiotic and tylenol with codeine. Pain is worse than ever today. If not for the liquid oxy my sleeve surgeon gave me, I do not know what I would do. I took no oxy following my sleeving and a small bottle with this toe. I am not one to take this type of pain med. Will go to my primary tomorrow, for reassurance. No way I can walk. Thanks for putting up with my ranting. Sure wish we all could sit in a room and chat and get to know each other better. I would love that. Linda

Lucky, I thought the same but found out the hard way. It was almost too good to be true! Be cautious and follow plan!

    9 days pre surgery

Simple advice lipstick, I thought I said it well. And I said good luck and love yourself enough. Why do you want to be critical?
  12. LindafromFlorida

    ANYONE?

You will be so busy with yourself and what is going on with you that you will not care about anyone else. Just rest and get through the surgery, and then you will find great friends here to travel this journey with! Relax, it will be good.

    9 days pre surgery

No one can help you stop smoking. You have to love yourself enough. Good luck.

    The Boomer Chat Room

Since I can barely walk for the past week, I am glued to this laptop and anything else that can occupy my mind for the past week. I looked at and joined a couple FB private groups, just to keep busy since i cannot walk right now. I cannot believe the number of young women who discuss things like When can I drink alcohol When can I have bread, pizza and Pasta I am drinking my Coke no matter what I have not lost any weight, I am gaining I have been thinking how blessed I am to be 67 years old and be where I am right now, and not worrying about what I am missing. Only thing good about old age I guess.

CA I can tell you I am short tempered right now from pain. I have throbbing horrible gout pain in my big toe and I could chew a tree trunk I am so agitated. Maybe you are just stressed out, or not feeling right?

Keep up the good work! This is wonderful!

    My journey, days 1-5.

Could be blood pressure or blood sugar, or just the body reacting after surgery.
  21. LindafromFlorida

    Never doing THAT again

I thought I was seriously having a heart attack from the pain and panic. From one bite, ate too fast and did not chew sufficiently Brought my happy self to REALITY that I did get sleeved!

    My sleeve Day 1

Amanda, my husband is a 35-year diabetic and was sleeved 12/2. Doctor gave him permission to have his fruit at bedtime until surgery to keep his blood sugar from dropping to 40 during the night. He has had NO fruit since surgery, no carbs, and his blood sugar is about 110 every day, and not 40 or 400. Thank you Lord. This is the best thing ever. His blood pressure is finally stable also, so my life gets better and better. I was put on Metformin about 4 months prior to sleeving, and came off Metformin 11/1 when I was sleeved. No more for me! Scary vut it all worked out perfectly. Best of luck!

    Cheated?

I didn't cheat, but I had mushy chicken 4 weeks out and did not chew it well, and ate too fast. The heart attack I thought I was having, and the choking/unable to breathe/panic I felt, scared the living hell out of me. I do not want to strangle on a piece of bread people keep talking about. Maybe I am glad I learned this lesson since I did not even feel I had surgery or a restriction.

    Patiently waiting!

LOL Reborn, I am married to the 65 year old hunter and fishing manly man, and I can relate. I bet there has never been the look of fear on his face as there was at the pre-op doctor appointment and as he walked in the hospital the morning of surgery! No elk ever scared him, for sure. Glad you and he survived and I hope you both get to climb a tree again. Proud of you and him both for taking control of your lives and getting the surgery! Best of luck!

    Patiently waiting!

Get busy doing something you have put off. I started cleaning closets lol, and my spare bedroom. I found that being busy kept me from thinking about being nervous. Also, I spent much time going to stores and taking my time reading labels. This site will also keep you busy!
