Did you keep it a secret?

We were with our neighbors last night several hours for the Superbowl game, who have no idea we were sleeved. The topic of the night was our diet, what we eat, what we drink, and it went on all night. Damnation I am sorry I even told them we were dieting. I have said before, glad we only have to discuss the sleeve with 2 relatives and a nurse friend! I thank my husband for making the decision to keep it private!!!!!
  3. I read reviews on the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup and decided this would be a Godsend since I love soup. No matter how lukewarm this soup is, it clumps and is in the garbage. Who wants tapwater soup??? These companies can bankrupt and worsem the people giving good reviews, I give a thumbs down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I hated the week of headaches prior to surgery but found I was dehydrated. I think the pre op diet does this to most everyone since there are lots of mentions. Best wishes! Cheers!

Did you keep it a secret?

That is why I respected my husband's wish that I not tell we had the sleeve. It has become similar to "gossiping about you". Let it go, get your surgery and REJOICE. Cheers to a better life, and keep your thoughts positive!

Happy... but I miss rice. I shouldn't, right?

Maybe it just globs up in your stomach when you eat it. I am convinced I am not experimenting with it.

    Crude comments

Like I said before, women can be snarky. I choose my friends and conversations wisely and stay away from the rude idiots. Best of luck!

New to group, 58 and getting cold feet

Please do not let anyone make this decision for you. If you get cold feet you can back out. But it takes guts and faith in God to move forward with this process. Our families are afraid, yes, but the risks of not having the sleeve are high too in some cases, like me and my husband, We are 65 and 66 and doing fantastic, and we love being sleeved. We researched the band 5 years ago and decided no. Please read and read some more, and listen to the stories that people tell you, and make an informed decision. God Bless, it is scary for you, but this process has been 10 times easier than we expected.

    Pre-op Diet Vent

SF popsicles, SF apple cider, SF Torani syrups to flavor your shakes - even Gingerbread flavor lol! SF Jello. Hot chicken or beef broth! Water, Crystal Light. I scoured the stores looking for anything I could find. Keep busy.
  12. Gary, the only problem my husband had was a prostate problem with the catheter. It had nothing to do with the sleeve. Sleeve was a piece of cake!
  13. Hi Linda, Thank you for reaching out! The positive stories are so helpful.... Any advise that may help prepare for the 1st week post-op? did u or your husband have any complications you would be willing to share? Gary Glad to help Gary! My husband was sleeved 12/2 and doing great at 2 months post op. He read about the sleeve and viewed videos while I am the writer, and ended up here for advice. He is 6'1", was 320 lbs. His life consisted of going a month on broth and Crystal Light and massive amounts of fruit to keep his blood sugar up, losing 20 lbs, gaining 30. Overweight since a baby. He is 65. He has had a heart stent, diabetic 30+ years, sleep apnea, HBP (3 meds), back and leg problems. 10 years ago we started seminars. He was afraid to have the surgery, I was afraid if he didn't, and the doctor agreed with me. He did great with the sleeve, hardly any pain after 1 night in the hospital. He is off one BP med, and has had no fruit since surgery, no sweets to keep him conscious through the night. He has lowered the insulin dose. No snacking required to keep the blood sugar up. Post op 3 weeks we were on shakes and liquids. Our doctor urged, Don't eat 3 meals a day, do not eat unless you are hungry! It works. You will find post op that the broth, shakes, SF apple cider, SF popsicles, are your mainstays, but you kinda want to get to that 3 or 4 week mushies stage. When you get to different stages here, just ask, and everyone will jump in with answers! Take it easy and rest the week after surgery. Keep your mind occupied. No lifting for a few weeks! You will experience that head hunger you read about here, because we are used to being hungry. But relax and distract yourself, just Water sometimes. We both agree we feel no hunger pains. Unbelievable. This surgery will transform you and your life. It was 10 times easier than we expected, just the unknown is what scares you! Best of luck to you!

Eight weekers! How are you feeling?

My husband and I are both over 8 weeks out and could not be happier. Over 40 lbs. down each. I used to envy a man I admired for saying I eat to live, I don't live to eat. I swear I can now say that and mean it. I don't have that screaming pain my my stomach anymore that says feed me! Good job everyone. I wish I could have had the sleeve 10 years ago, not at 66. But thankful still.

Did you keep it a secret?

Thank goodness we can talk when we want here and shut it off when we tire. Most people here are supportive, not judgmental. I agree, I did not want to hear horror stories.

    Pre-op Diet Vent

Remember, most of us have done this, and we understand. Before you know it you will be sleeved, and then on to the next phases. There will be lots of support here.
  22. Husband was on 3 BP meds and I was on 2, we are both off one BP med each. Our BP is excellent 2 months post op, and after surgery. Seems they would be finding the problem at the hospital. Have they done kidney tests on her? Google kidneys and HBP and research. Best wishes to you both.

    Failed bandster planning for sleeve

Hello there, Just wanted to say so sorry for your problems. I would say we would not have any long term health problems if we had not done the sleeve 2 months ago, as our health had worsened so much and I was afraid my husband would die. We are 66 and 65, and began WL seminars 10 years ago. Until the sleeve. Thank God. Life is fabulous! The stories I read here make me thankful he would not do the band. I am 100% for you changing to the sleeve before your health worsens.
