Hi Katie, 66 here, hernias for me and my husband also. Seem to be pretty common here. Sounds like you are doing good. I have had a knee replacement so I am doing the recumbent bike. Just bought myself a gorgeous bicycle and cannot wait for warmer weather to ride it. Best wishes on your journey, I am celebrating my new life every day. Wish you lived near me so we could bike together lol!

R there any Dec 2013 sleevers
LindafromFlorida replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try dry roasted edamame - I absolutely love this as a little snack. -
Farmgirl, Seems like those cruel words he spoke 25 years ago shaped your marriage. I wish you nothing but the best in getting healthier for yourself and your medical problems. You are a wise woman. God Bless.

R there any Dec 2013 sleevers
LindafromFlorida replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved 11/18, my husband 12/2. Because of diabetes, we decided to forego rice, bread and pasta. No wraps. We have no more fruit either. Honestly there are so many great protein options we have not gotten bored with our diet. I read a few stories here about bread and rice and besides it not being healthy for me, I am scared to try it. One small piece of soft chicken stuck in my esophagus making me think I was having a heart attack, so I will take no chances. Good luck. -
3 ISSUES......PLEASE HELP!
LindafromFlorida replied to cangudz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Cangudz, I would say relax a little. I read posts daily and we all have in common that we worry about things. I pretty much drink water without ice now because I prefer it. You might try leaving the cold drinks alone and try room temp. I do not measure my water but I drink all day. No problem drinking. You just had surgery 3 days ago, so take it easy on yourself! We discuss head hunger here a lot. You think you are hungry...... Best wishes, and rest up girl! -

Depressed after losing weight?
LindafromFlorida replied to Jouselle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jouselle, there is a time in our lives we have to reach out for professional help with depression. I have had serious issues with depression losing my son, so I sought the help and I thank God that I did. You have taken the steps for your health, and I will pray that you will seek out a mental health professional as soon as possible. You should read your post to them so they will put you on a priority list. My wish is for you to be as happy as you wanted to be when you started your weight loss journey, and you can do it! Bless you friend. Linda -
How did you handle telling everyone about your surgery
LindafromFlorida replied to vincereautmori's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Linda. I met my goal in Nov and have been working to maintain it at this point. It's been a fun challenge over the past 3 months. If I don't lose another pound, I'd be okay. I see that now. Well, just keep on inspiring us. Very proud for you. I cannot wait for the summer months to come, and this year I won't be sitting indoors being depressed. I want to be where you are! -

How did you handle telling everyone about your surgery
LindafromFlorida replied to vincereautmori's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I Love hearing your stories everyone. Almost feels like having conversations, except there are no distractions. It is wonderful to have others' perspectives when we are worrying over things and trying to make it more complicated than it really is. Have a great weekend and here's to more weight loss! -
How did you handle telling everyone about your surgery
LindafromFlorida replied to vincereautmori's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lisa you will lose weight rather slowly, over months. My husband has lost 50 lbs., no one has noticed. I have lost 50 lbs. It came off slowly. We are dieting. We quit drinking. We quit eating full dinners when we went out a couple times. We eat no carbs, no sugar. Our diet is working. No need to lie about anything. We changed the way we eat. Works for us! Good luck!! -

LindafromFlorida replied to vincereautmori's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Since my husband decided it is no one's business, we have not told. No one missed us 1 night in hospital. The weight has come off slowly over the past 4 months. My husband has lost 50 lbs LOL and even his 30 y/o son has not noticed. Life is good. We enjoy not having to explain our surgery and have gone on with life, focusing on our eating plan. Our life has been a dadgum diet of some sort for so many years, as our friends and neighbors know, that it is the truth to say this diet is working and we are eating less. -
When in a new place, just ask the locals their favorite eateries. Sarasota is beautiful. Lots of seafood. Tallahassee is a college town, FSU. Not much going on there for me. But in 2 weeks you can drive a few miles West and see Destin, FL, which has the most beautiful beaches in Florida I think. I hope the weather is good for you!We have had a lousy winter.

Hang in there Farmgirl and Countrysweet. You will figure this out between you. I could write a book on horrible marriage, no love, no attention, and the rest of the funk. I figured it out, you will too. God bless and love yourselves. I found the love and happiness my life was meant to be.<br />

Went kayaking! I challenge you to a sport!
LindafromFlorida replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No matter what we do, the point is to get off our butts and MOVE!!!! When I get rid of this gout, my goal is to walk. But being on Tarkin Bay in Pensacola, seeing dolphins, a deer at the water's edge, the many egrets, a bald eagle, and skimming the water in the kayak made me feel giddy with laughter. I am on fire to get back out there! I live in Jacksonville, FL, my daughter in Pensacola. And I FIT in the kayak lol. Fitnfab go for it! Recycled, you are going for it too! Slow or fast get out there! -
I know it is normal but...
LindafromFlorida replied to Dragonsmate's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will not fail if you follow your plan. Any surgery is scary, with anesthesia. But this procedure for us, was 10 times easier than expected! You will be so happy! It is lifechanging with new rules. Thank God I will never pay Weight Watchers any more monty. Your tears will be wiped away when you start losing pounds! Smile at a new beginning. -
We are all addicted to something, whether it be food, alcohol, work, drugs, adventure, pills, bulimia, sex, etc. Food has been my addiction. Alcohol was my family addiction on my mother and dad's sides of the family. We are here to change our addictions, and I wish I were 50 instead of 66 (when I had better health). But I sure plan on living the best life I can now that I am sleeved! Best of luck Nancy!

I am 66 and was sleeved 11/18. I was not scared for myself, but for my 65 year old husband who had so many comorbidities. I was thankful meds had put my weight up to where I qualified for the surgery, so we could do this together. I was tired of being depressed and watching my weight climb in 2013 when I retired. Now, Life is good. Very good. I would do this again in a heartbeat. The best part is the neuropathy in my feet is gone, along with Metformin, BP pills, and some of my fat LOL. I feel like a new person today. My husband is 6'1" and has lost over 40 lbs. He is doing great. He has back and leg problems, but I am thankful people won't be judging him for being fat before long.

One week till Surgery
LindafromFlorida replied to Sarah Waring2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This will become your second home. No judgment here, just support. I tried about 4 Facebook pages but dropped out. This is the place. Read, read and read some more. There is so much help here! I am happy you found us too! -
Live in Jacksonville, FL here, on the beautiful St. Johns River. We can cruise out to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean in 45 minutes from our home. We can drive to beautiful historic St. Augustine in 30 minutes. We are 30 minutes from the Georgia line, so we have had our share of cold weather this year. Gman, your post stuck out because all I do is tell my family in WV, CO, KS, MN, AK, how sorry I am for their weather. Happy to be part of a wonderful group of people here.

Slow Weight Loss, Feel Angry And Cheated!
LindafromFlorida replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The scale has not moved for me in 3 weeks. But it is not going up either. Thank you Jesus! Hang in there. I have lost slowly and at times the scale did not move but I knew I felt lighter. Right as I was reading your posts I was thinking why am I not losing? I am going to step it up a bit myself. Good luck everyone!
