    Rant!

Set your ground rule. We do not discuss surgery and weight loss again. Enough is enough. If she persists drop her. Life is about being around people who make you feel great, not drag you down! Best wishes!
  2. Just follow your plan, and don't worry about others. You will lose weight. Just focus on you and what you are eating!

    Feeling a bit defeated

    good luck!
  5. I remember knowing I was losing weight when smaller clothes were fitting but the scale did not move. Definitely put the scale away and follow your plan. It will always cause you aggravation!!!!

    LIQUOR>> PLEASE HELP

I would say you deserve a drink. At 4 months today my surgeon said the stomach is healed. Try one. My husband sipped a rum/diet coke for 2 hours, no problem. You wont know til you try.

Kind of a pre op surgery question

I am 67, just retired after 47 years of working. I was shopping at the mall 4 days after the sleeve and a hernia repair. If you need the job desperately and if it is a desk job I think a week off and you will be good to go. I took one dose of med after 24 hours in the hospital and was feeling great! We are all different, however. Best luck with your decision!

Surgery scheduled but family unsupportive need help

My husband and I are 3 months post op sleeve after 10 years of research and seminars. 67 years old and happy and healthy! We can do anything now. Best of luck!
  9. 4 months' sleeve checkup today and all was perfect, especially the labwork I worried about. I will stay on the liquid Vitamin my pharmacist friend recommended (Source of Life Liquid Gold). It cost $50 but it has lasted Dec-March and not empty yet. The pharmacist told me it had everything I needed. I compared the ingredients to Bariatric Advantage multi vitamin and was impressed with the Liquid Gold! It can be found on Amazon or at a compound pharmacy. Now we are off Prilosec. We do not see the surgeon again for a year, and I will miss his wonderful smiling face. Every doctor is different, I have learned here, but I told him today the best advice he gave us was: 1. Do not eat 3 meals a day. 2. Only eat when you are really hungry. 3. Drink plenty of Water. 4. Eat healthy. We have followed these rules and it has been very simple. We eat a little of everything (except fried foods). I am so thankful this surgery has worked so well for me and my husband, and especially the health problems we have overcome. My A1C went from 7+ to 5 and I am off Metformin and a BP med; my husband's A1C went from 12 to 7 and he no longer has to eat heavily at bedtime to keep his blood sugar from dropping to 40 during the night. in fact, he eats nothing at bedtime anymore. He is off a BP med also. Finally, I can say the magic words, "we are eating to live, not living to eat". Never thought I would see that day. God Bless.

    Awesome at 4 Months!

It truly has been awesome doing this together, as our surgeon said today. I qualified after being diagnosed with diabetes, HBP and asthma. Plus my weight kept creeping up after a knee replacement. I could barely grocery shop because I was gasping for breath after a trip to the store. I no longer need the asthma inhalers. My husband had so many health problems, and I hope to never find him unconscious with that 40 blood sugar at 3 am again and have to call rescue. I can shop the mall again! We are truly back to living.

Very light headed- is this normal?

My take is that following surgery your blood pressure gets low and you feel lightheaded. My husband got in the shower (knowing he was lightheaded) and passed out. He cracked 6 tiles, blackened his cheekbone, scraped his arm on the shower door, and hurt his leg. He could have killed himself. I have read others who had this same problem. The BP cuffs are easy to operate these days, but when you feel lightheaded, SIT DOWN. Best of luck to you!

    Vitamin Advice

I have taken Source of Life liquid Gold Vitamin since surgery. It was recommended by a pharmacist I know. It cost about $50, but you take 2 T. a day, and it has lasted over 3 months. I felt I needed a goof vitamin and today I was seen by my surgeon and my lab report was excellent. So I will stay with this. It is on Amazon.com also. I bought Bariatric Advantage multis but way too chalky for me, yuck! So my husband got that bottle lol! Good luck!

    What Happened

The scale has been my worst enemy. Just follow your plan, exercise however you can. Also it helps for us to know what surgery you had, and other information as we all have had different surgeries, with lots of varying weights and problems. I think everyone of us here has gone through what you are, at varying stages. I have been the same weight for ? 6 weeks and maybe this it for me. But I won't give up, I am staying with the plan. I have been on lots of meds lately so could be my problem. Hang in there!

    What Happened

Exactly what are you eating? BTW you will not lose weight every day so you have to get used to this.

    Frustrated and depressed

If they do not know how much it will cost you then how can you pay up front? I would be talking to some different people at the hospital doctor's office, and insurance company! Good luck!.

    Pre-op Sugar Addict... Worried

Continue to eat sweets, or lose weight. The answer has been easy. I have had low sugar ice cream in the freezer 3 months. Doesn't tempt me. We women will all agree we worry so much! There are fruits, SF puddings, SF popsicles, etc. The Bariatric Advantage chocolate Calcium citrates are like a sweet little Tootsie Roll a day. SF applesauce with SF Torani syrup stirred in, along with shakes with Torani syrups. all flavors. The possibilities are endless. My tastes have definitely changed. The SF pudding and Jello sit in the pantry. For some reason I have not wanted them. I hope that you will experience the same. Best of luck! This surgery will change your life.

Helpful info about Pre Op Psych Eval.

My husband and I had the sleeve in a large city in a large hospital with a large bariatric surgery center. The psychologist met with us together for 30 minutes, and it was lighthearted, just being ourselves, and never felt we were being grilled. Just be yourself! We women worry waaaaay too much, including me. Hope I can de-stress you, lol! Best of luck!

Day 3 post op- need support friends!

    Soon to be sleeved

We told no one except 1 daughter, 1 niece, and a nurse friend, because my husband said NO! 3 months post op and I am so thankful. All everyone wants to talk about is our losing weight (over a 5-month period) and I am sick and tired of it frankly. Ignore us like you used to when we were fat. Imagine if they had our surgery to talk about LOL. We are pretty quiet people and like sitting to the side and enjoy looking and laughing and being together. Please quit worrying about what anyone thinks. This is your life and its high time you take control of you if this is what you want. Do make sure you have at least one or 2 people for support. I wish you the very best!

Day 3 post op- need support friends!

Chelsea, You do not mention your age, the date and the surgery you had, your weight, and you may never want to, but it helps sometimes asking for help, for us to know this information in order to have a better idea of what you are going through. Each surgery is different, some more complicated. Wishing you good luck, Linda

Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves

My husband decided one of our local hospitals should practice awhile when they decided to have a sleeve program, so several years later we are sleeved. You read on this site that people have problems even with very experienced surgeons, so why hurry? Just read, study and know what you are getting into. Good luck!
